Sorry but I always thought Glenda Gilson had a face like a horse, and those eyebrows - Jesus - they're like the McDonalds arches!

A thread on AH bashing Irish women and overrating the Easterners?

    You jest, surely

But on the other hand, I don't find so-called stunners, like Lily Cole, remotely stunning. She looks like she should get some sunlight and a few burgers.

Indeed. I wouldnt touch Lily Cole with yours. Nor Kate Moss, she is very average as are alot of the internationally famous ones.

I was talked to in Polish, by a Polish guy. He couldn t believe I was Irish when I responded in English. He said "oh my god, I can t believe you are Irish you actually look quite nice, "

Alot of East Europeans, both male and female, have a tremendous supremacy feeling re Irish women. E European men will go on about overweight Irish women in a sort of revenge for the fact attractive Irish women seem to be point blank uninterested in them. A few E European women I know will similiarly overtalk about they saw this fat girl and that fat girl in the pub the other night. Jealously tbh. Contrary to boards and the meedjia Irish men (and certainly women) generally couldnt give a monkeys about alot of them, and it seemingly hurts.

I have spotted quite a few mingers in Central and Eastern Europe, many of whom wouldn't have been out of place as members of their country's olympic shot-putt teams. Perhaps with their sheer strength, they forced their hot-totty contemporaries to leave the country.

Are models meant to be goo looking, wouldn't that distract from the clothes?

They don't model clothes. They just pose for companies and events. Like wearing bikinis for the Budget Travel sale. In October. On Grafton Street.

That's not how I interpret this topic. I read it as "why are Irish models not that good looking compared to foreign models" rather than "why are Irish women ugly".

The former is a valid question, whereas the latter is the pointless discussion we see here every week.

    There's a difference...

The Irish models we see are over hyped promotions girls. Take the Independent on Sunday, they make fun of the "Irish models" in the opening pages, but turn to the fashion section and you'll see Irish girls who are actually MODELS. They're tall, angular, maybe even gaunt but they're Irish too. No dodgy tans or gel nails in sight. There's also a handful of Irish girls paving their way in fashion cities, but no one would recognise them.

And in general, we're not exactly a sexy race, are we?

The fashion industry in Ireland is tiny and underdeveloped, so if you can "look the look," and "walk the walk," and are brave when young (they prefer late teens or very early 20s), you get an agent in NY, London, Paris, or Milan and leave.

Spot on.... then the pics are put in National newspapers as headlines... Since when did having an average looking girl (with no breasts and visible ribs) flouncing around on Dollymount in the pissing rain make me want to go out and buy something.... Christ even in half backward parts of the world they go into studios and photoshop a lovely beach behind them.... nevermind ps'ing the girl too...

When people can't beat your argument, they will often look for some kind of grammar error or something like that.

    Don't worry about it. :)

I could have easily shattered his argument by pointing him in the direction of Belgrade.

But I wouldn't dream of being disagreeable towards a blue eyed boy.

yeah i do find they have a bit of a chip on their shoulder when it comes to looks. They seem to be quite into their appearance.
I remember my Lithuanian friend was very insecure. She was ok looking but overweight and broad shouldered. She was convinced Irish women were after her man, when to be honest he really isn t anything to look at!
Her husband asked me infront of her could he keep a photo of me in a bikini???. Yeah I know he was a little insensitive towards his wife. I don t know if he was joking or not but it wasn t a nice thing to say!

Funny thing is she blamed ME for it and was frosty with me for months afterwards. I didn t bother with her after that.

I really don't get the fuss about Polish people. I've never met one I considered remotely attractive. The women are hard faced and cold looking and the men look like rough skinheads. I think they're worse looking than the Irish in general.

The Metro/Star/Examiner/Irish Times aren't exactly the latest in fashionwear, now are they? I'm a bloke but do you honestly expect standing in the rain in a pair of wellies and bikini in Kilkenny promoting the Ploughing Championships to be the same as modelling clothes or fashionwear? Not by a long shot.
To each their own I suppose. I'd cum in her wellies. I'd cum in anyone's wellies though, I;m very drunk
