I'm after checking my Eazypass account and found I've been charged €2.80 for some journeys instead of €2.00. I've been on to them and they say this will be refunded (but I think more in a sense of when its pointed out to them rather than automatically). Just wondering is this a fault in the system, or something that just happened with my account - has this happened to anyone else ?

I presume its fairly common then but I fail to understand why it happened assuming yours is a car. Surely, when you registered, they noted that it was a car and the price would be fixed against the vehicle type?

This might be slightly off topic but I drove the M50 for the first time on Friday, since the barriers were lifted. Funnily enough I pretty much had to come to a complete stop just before the toll booths as before. Apparently the Blanch junction is now messing everything up, but I'm not really sure why as both M50 lanes are still open. Any ideas?

Aaahhh, let's see..... Blanch junction not free flow + traffic volumes + donkey drivers :D

Yea, I would have thought that the tag number would simply cross reference with car, but maybe in an effort to be totally sure (and make sure tags registered as cars haven't made their way into trucks) they are trying to also cross reference captured registration with vehicle type on the national vehicle database, but they are reading the registration incorrectly in some instances - actually the more I think about that the more that makes sense. But if the cameras are not getting the reg right, then heavy traffic is not a causing factor as one of those journeys was the day someone tryed to turn the M50 into a pebble beach consequently I was keeping about 20 car lengths clear of the trucks in front.

Whats the story with this, it seems a bit all over the place.

They STILL have me down as over 2tn even though I went and got my van weighed, went to tax office, sorted that, got a new tax disc with right weight, got a new DOE cert with right weight, sent off the reg doc to Shannon and got a new one with the right weight. I'm not paying until it's the right price :)

I have also been charged €2.80 as a car driver. Mistakes all round!

Ah yes, the "must get into outermost lane as quickly as possible after merging" phenomenon so loved by Irish drivers.

Well, it relies on Computer Vision to read the plate properly so in two words, its bollocks! :D

How long does it take to show the charges on the Eazypass website? I have my tag up and went by on Thursday but still nothing on their website.

Ring eflow and ask if the car is showing up as owing money.

Have you tried ringing their lines, every time I tried today it ended in an engaged tone after going through the pain in the ass automated system.

Usually takes a day in my experience.

Anybody tempted to use the M50 now and not bother their hoop paying to see what will actually happen ? A social experiment of sorts :)
Hi.... I'm new to Boards, so this may have already have been dealt with. I went through yesterday & forgot to pay by 8pm today. I happened to enter the incorrect no. for my car & at the last moment discovered it would accept the payment! I entered any reg & it will accept payment, so I'm now not going to pay to see what'll happen..... has anyone else tried not paying (for expiremental reasons only of course)....

Going home from work yesterday at 1330, and the traffic northbound on the m50 was at a standstill well before the N3 turnoff. My eflow tag had just beeped when I saw the queues.
FFS, what is the point, the queues were less when the barriers were in operation. They have just moved a few hundred metres.

IMO it will work when the M50 upgrade is complete. Don't forget that ppl have to slow down from 100Kph to 60Kph and merge into two lanes from four at that junction.

That was always going to happen anyway. The removal of the toll barriers wasn't going to magically finish the widening of the M50 and as the previous poster said, you have 4 lanes narrowing into two lanes as you approach that junction. Unfortunately it'll remain that way until the work is complete.

I drove back from the airport on Friday and used the M50 for the first time since the introduction of this silly scheme. Now, I don't quite know how - it may have been to do with the big trucks on the road of which there were many - but I totally missed the cameras! Was also surprised at the signage or lack of, from the point of view of someone new here etc. I found the whole thing quite baffling.

Now, so immersed with my back from the airport activities - I actually and *genuinely* forgot to pay for the toll. Certainly wasn't intentional, but I was very very tired and it just disappeared out of my head altogether.

That is until the next day when prob with a few minutes to go until a fine was to be imposed - I remembered! Legged it to the computer and have to admit I was surprised by the crappy website. As a developer myself, I had certain expectations of it - for one - I thought it would be a case that I'd type in my reg somewhere - and it would be shown the exact time that I went through? Well, it all seemed a little ambiguous and from what I could see, I felt like I was volunteering the info...

Anyway, that was my first experience of it. It's a terrible terrible shame. The fact that we are being fined after such a short time is crazy. If fines must be imposed, and they don't, it should be after a much greater amount of time - maybe 30 days or something. Now, people might argue about back-logs etc, but like I said, I'm a computer developer, at it's just as easy to cater for 30 days as opposed to 30 mins as data-bases work the same for both. But then, there is that €2.8 Billion defecit.

Yeh and you just manually type in the Number of Toll Passages you wish to pay for. Surely they could have asystem whereby you could see how many tolls are due by your reg???

    .

I also *genuinely* forgot to pay two weeks ago. Not sure what to do now. Didn't get anything in the post yet. Does anybody know how long it takes them to fine you and how much is the fine anyway?

Just tried to pay my toll fee on eflow, guess what? their web site isn't responding on the "pay a toll" page

I didn't bother paying either on 6th September and I just got the notice today 16th. If you went through it before 14th September then you only have to pay €3 but it says you still need to bring the letter to the shop so they can scan it.
Wouldnt work in the shop, wouldn't work on the net and it doesnt work when you ring them, couldn't be arsed paying now at this stage!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,103 ✭✭✭Neil_Sedaka

Yeah, mine wouldn't scan in the shop either!!

I went through the toll last week. The next day I went to pay for it online and I was met with that system. I disliked the fact that it doesn't show you what is due and I decided there and then not to pay and just see what will happen...

    Well, what happens is this:

They send you a bill (several pages of wasted paper) telling you that you owe them 3 Euro a pop.
And, whilst it's entirely within their rights, the won't charge you the extra 3 Euro a pop, for not paying on time, out of the goodness of their hearts.

So, for making a trip over the bridge and back, one would essentially owe them 12 Euro, were it not for their big heartedness!

Joe Duffy was talking about this today. Loads of people are being wrongly charged having not been anywhere near the place!

I wouldn't be surprised if someone without a car got a bill in the door! (Even without a reg, it seems likely that someone might be charged!)

The problem is that when selling/buying a car no id/proof of address of any sort is needed. I could buy a car and register it to anyone.

Just signed up for a new account but I think I might have made a mistake.

I think I might have put myself down for a tag account by mistake. I've gone in afterwards and it doesn't tell me anywhere which sort of account I have.

It tells me I have no tags but that's it.
