I only recently became aware of this channel and really enjoy it. This is my first time posting here: Great Tit, Blue Tit, and Coal Tit at the peanut feeder.

Got the chance to play with the new Panasonic LUMIX G9 and the Leica DG 200mm (400mm equivalent) f2.8 lens at a PR event in Dublin's Botanic Garden's last Thursday. Quick, responsive, solid and remarkably compact -- looks like a fantastic mirrorless option for wildlife.

Just a shame the only squirrels available were non-native greys... :(

You'd probably need c€5k+ to buy the pair

Somewhere around that, I think -- which is pricey, but compared to roughly equivalent spec DSLR gear it doesn't seem such bad value. Equivalent full frame Nikon body, for example, would cost you c. €3.5K, and the Nikon 400mm f2.8 will set you back a cool €12.5K... plus you probably wouldn't want to carry it around with you for the day.

Very impressed with the new Lumix in the short time I got to spend with it.

Today with Second hand Nikon D 800 full frame camera 780euros ( this delivers a 36mp image -great to work with especially in RAW)
Second hand Tamron VR lens 150-600 - 450 euros

The VR lens gives a 2 stop advantage - bringing it close to F4 and I find that with a monopod I can get close to F3.2 equivalent
Plus you have the advantage of a zoom feature

Not a professional's gear - but great for the price

Great shot... and a great setup. I normally shoot with a Nikon D7200 DX frame body, and had the Tamron 150-600mm G2 on loan for review the tail end of last year... cracking lens, giving a staggering 900mm equivalent focal length on the D7200.

Grey-cheeked thrush on Galley Head in West Cork last October shot handheld using that setup.
