All kudos to you guys at Poker Ireland for having the guts to think big and organise an event of this size. As someone that doesnt have deep pockets, this is my WSOP

Cheers Ciarán, thats the idea of this tournament alright. I mean it doesn't really matter whether you are playing for money, pride or whatever, everyone should have the chance to experience big tournament poker, properly run.

I think it will be sold out but it will be close. When we are around at these clubs (and we are meeting hundreds of players, many of whom only half heard about the tournament) we are telling people that it will be sold out in two to three weeks.
As I said, last year when we got to 300 players it took 4 days to sell out. This year we're already at 433 with forty something days to go but I just hope no'one that really wants to play misses out.

    Stephen.

That's because it was 4 days to the tournament was been held. It will be the same this year, big mass sign up at the end although bit less extreme then last year

We will have people at Croke Park this weekend for the hurling and for the football next week (Croke Park is right in my neighbourhood, although I won't be there myself due to the Dundalk Hundred this Sunday and Ennis the following week).

    Cheers,
    Stephen.

That might be true but do you not think the fact that Boyles are adding so much of everyone's rake directly to the prize-pool is motivation for player's to get signed up?

Also, I know if I see a tournament that I want to play filling up I will want to book early to make sure I get a seat. It was at 433 players there last night with 43 days to go before the tournament.

So obviously well over 400 people so far are up for adding a bit to the prize-pool as well as making sure they don't miss the tournament (or more specifically the chance to choose to start play on Day 1B, Saturday 18th Oct, as this is filling up a good bit quicker than the Friday at the moment).

I'm going to have a look later on (not on my own computer at the moment) and will be very surprised if we don't have more than 450 registered. I am very confident that this will be full, thats why we're telling everyone we meet in clubs around the country that they better register soon (and they have been listening to us :) ).

If you would prefer to pay the €25 reg that we had last year just let me know, I will make arrangements for you no bother.

The answer is of course because we're in partnership with Boyles this year.

Eh no? If they gave everyone 50% rakeback while registered back to their own accounts that would be an incentive, I fail to see how this would be.

I was just wondering was it Boyle's doing. It seems, to be fair, that Boyles are certainly making this an incredible event.

Hmmmm....yeah good point, but don't think they will go for that :)......Its one of those incentives that will either help us or hinder us (i.e. some people might think that the less they play the more value they are getting added to the prize-pool with everyone else's money).....

+1, there are still a good few surprises to come (some of which even I don't know about yet)....Everyone should get registered today imho :)

Its definitely not a hindrance, itll look good once its in the prizepool but the majority of good players have their own sites with deals Boyles cant match, the majority of smaller pockets the tournies being aimed at paying 150 for a tournament is already a lot but to get them to pay a month in advance and grind away on the site is a massive ask.

Hopefully they all see this; http://www.boylesports.com/sections/poker/d.asp?show=IPO2008_Information

:) And its a couple of days old, there is a good bit more in there now I think.

Just got in the door from some live promo and am bitterly disappointed to find only 445 players registered so far.....Was really expecting to see the 450 mark achieved today :)

If you want to help us make a bit of poker history and raise the bar that little bit higher then please register today.....The earlier you register the more value ther will be in the tournament.

    Cheers,
    Stephen.

Its costing me €650 of my hard earned if I don't fill this thing before 1st Oct.....I think you can keep your money in your pocket, its a certainty I am going to say it again within 24 hours.

In fact; get yourselves registered folks

I know its annoying if you read here regularly but there are so many people that just check on Boards every once in a while that almost every time I post here a few more people will register (from experience this is tried and tested, if I don't post nobody registers :) ).

    Stephen.

    462, get in there!

Keep 'em coming, I will be spending my €650 on a nice little holiday after the tournament :)

No dress code mate, but if you wear a mask I might have to take steps :)

    seriously?
players can wear sunglasses and a hoodie, i even saw a guy with glasses and a hoodie and a beard, i could barely see his face at all

so, given that i dont want the media to have a clear photo of my face (because of my job) and i have so many facial tells since i cant hide my feelings when i have a great hand or a terrible one, can i wear a mask?

put them flyers in about 30 pubs and cafe's yesterday stephen when i was back up in belfast. most were fine with it. i had about 200 alltogether so i put about 50 in the europa bus center and the manager said he would put one or two up on the ticket booths windows so hope that fills the event as i want to see you get noel's money:pac::pac::D:D

ill give out the rest to people i know

    Keep the registrations going players.

I expect Day 1B to be sold out by this day next week or shortly thereafter.

If your preference is to play Day 1 on the Saturday you will need to register this week.

    Cheers,
    Stephen.
