I agree. Even tho same test as last year I found it more difficult this time round for some reason! Hope I've done enough, the waiting game continues..

As in exaclty the same test? Same information, same questions etc?

Yep, exactly the same. Not that it helped any because obviously would never be able to remember any of the answers!

Well it's over now, can't change anything so we should all just try and think positively! Maybe they'll even lower the pass mark this year :D Good luck to all those who have their's coming up.

I did mine yesterday too, was really surprised that it was the same as last years, although I think I found it a bit easier, only because I was familiar with the layout of the data sheet so it didnt take me as long to get my head round where to find all the info I needed.

Fingers crossed, I'm still in for C15 too, so hopefully I wont need this one!

Did mine yesterday - its been a few years from i did it and i found it very tricky :( I may keep everything crossed i pass it...... horrified at at the length of time they said it will take to get the results! I was thinking a week or so.... not 7!!!!!!!

Had mine yesterday. I thought the Maths part of it was pretty hard, only because of the amount of data that you had to sift through!

Here's hoping though, its done and dusted.

I really wished I had a better memory of it now even just to remember the jist of the questions  Though I'm really quite shocked that they use the same test twice, seems a bit...lazy! but hey ill not complain!

Just back from my IST... that maths Data Sheet was brutal!!! WAY too much to take in... especially in the amount of time you have to deal with!

    Part A - is Fine!

Did you actually answer all the questions or did you guess some at the end? I must have guessed at least ten at the end of each section both times I've done it. If you got through them all within the time limit you must have some brain, mine was scrambled!!!!

answered all them but i didnt get bogged down on questions thats the trick so some off the maths q's off which off these statements are false my method was randomly check the order and if it was for example the short A's to rule them out if they didnt match up

but this meant if i read for example statement 4 first and it matched i went with it now if my maths didnt add proper then i was wrong (without known and happy with my wee answer)

or i ruled out 1,2,3, (RANDOMLY) quickly i didnt add up 4 as a process of elimination but whos to say i skipped the answer in 1,2,3 as i would scan 4 but if it was gonna take me long i marked 4 as a logically guess answer

but like i said answering everything means sweet FA if ya get them wrong and fail

thats my advice on it and btw i bought this

    g-Digital_Kitchen_Timer_(E-009).jpg

and im happy i did looking at a watch or clock isnt the same as you got x mins and x secs left !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10 DenseSpence

I had a watch and in the Maths part I was almost sure I had a minute to spare, but as soon as i started all the ones that I had skipped ('which of these statements' ones as they took too long).. it was pens down time. Got 2 filled in out of about 8 or 9 lol.

Wasn't happy! Awh well, no point crying over spilt milk.

I'm pretty sure that would breach a code of forum rules and psni wouldn't be too happy about it. Nothing you can really do about it now anyway!!!

I did my test this morning, think I completely blew it.
Didn't get two questions finished on Part A, and only got to question 15 on Part B.

Thought Part 2 was very hard with a lot of info to take in.

Did you guess the rest of them? please tell me you did!!! Golden rule, dont leave any blank if there is no negative marking!!!!

well did the last paragraph in section A mention house prices???

I think everybody is definitly saying the same thing that the maths was pretty bad. I had done practise tests and bought a book off amazon suggested in the threads etc but i dont think anything could have prepared me for that... you either have it or you dont :( The actual maths to work out the answer was not hard.. its more the time pressure and going into sooooo many data tables to get the answer. I did the IST twice before a good few years ago.. maybe 2005 and passed both times but what i got last week was much harder than the ones i did before.. either that or im getting slow in my old age :) Im very concerned i have failed.

I completed both sections but am concerned in the maths that i may have went a bit "ram stam" as in maybe i rushed to get it done and wasnt careful enough at reading the question.. so i would caution against that :(

But it looks like we are in for a long wait till we get the results. Good luck to all those you have theirs soon!

Didn't have time. Even guessing I still could have got them all wrong.

Just have to wait and see I guess.

Also can you do well in one, but poorly in the other and still go through because you got a better grade in one test?

its the overall mark from both tests. Last year the pass mark was 55 out of 78 i think.

I found the maths part hard only due to the time, i was watching my watch and panicking about the time limit, but got all answers filled in so fingers crossed..

that test is so tough, no real way of preparing for it.

    2 questions-

Anyone any idea about the number of applicants for this year? More/less than last year etc?

We are given a pass 'mark' how is this worked out? Like say you need 55 to pass, is 55 a percentage, or is it simply 55 out of 78?

    Thanks

55 out of 78. But this depends on how well everyone does. They can only cope with 2000 approx at the AC. So it is the top 2000 IST results who pass. This explains why the pass mark can go up or down.......if its a really difficult test......then the pass mark can go down. Three years ago the pass mark was only 52 or 53.
