wow finally someone else who's doing the same choice as me

commerce international with chinese in UCC
    405 points

how many points is it in DIT?

You see, some sources have said 365 and others 320 so its somwhere in between!!!

I was considering doing it down in Cork, my place of birth:), but thought between Cork and China, it might be too much of a culture shock.... js buzzin.

Looks like a good course tho, Specially the third year.
Have you any idea what hours of chinese a week youse do down there?

Haven't updated it yet but it'll be something like...

    Theoretical Physics (TCD)
    Maths (TCD)
Computer Science, Linguistics and Irish (TCD)
    Visual Communications (DIT)
    Science (TCD)
and.. yeah, I dunno. Things like that. CSLL seems to tend to be AQA so provided I got a B3 in Irish that'd be my lowest points one. Had architecture in DIT down as well but I didn't go to the interview so I don't rate my chances.

Ya the third year is one of the main reasons im going for the course.

All I know is the course is split 50/50 between business and chinese in 1st year then after that its 60/40 in favour of business.
I do know that the hours are fairly similar to the commerce course (just when they do some business subjects im off doing a language) which I know wouldnt be the most time consuming course (well not compared to medicine...)

Ye i mean, its tough, i picked up a good bit over there, but it would involve studying what you learnt every week i was told.
Its not something you can just pick up a week before exams etc.

Mrs. Vandoorn, am I correct in saying that you do want to do TCD Maths / DCU Science Ed and you're just looking for back-ups?

If that's the case, just stick down UCD Maths are your #3. I know you don't fancy UCD but you say you're aiming for 500 and if you get anywhere close to it you'll get your #1. The UCD course isn't all that different from the TCD one and it is just a back-up.

You've probably had your guidance counsellor say things like this to you... but try imagine yourself in 10 years or whatever. Where do you see yourself, what do you see yourself doing? What sort of stuff do you enjoy/makes you happy? Then pick a course that'll let you get that.

Failing that, do something you enjoy and are interested in.

    Ah yes..

    Gangster rapping. A fantastic career.

What I would suggest is this, go out and find yourself a ho. Then pop a cap in her ass.

I think you'll find the rest comes easy after that.

NUIG - Science (Physics, Maths, App Maths and Chemistry in 1st year)

Still not sure about going to NUIG, since regardless of where I go I'll have to move out.

ucd not really an option ! thanks 4 suggestion though

career guidance teacher is a bit wishy washy !
its not that i wont get the courses i just dont know if il like them when im in them!

im afraid maths in tcd will be mainly male and slightly 2 nerdy 4 my liking !
and im afraid if i do science education i wont b left with many options at the end of it all apart 4rm teaching !

im not the stereotypical maths student im a bit crazy but i do love the subject

no djing courses is there ??
