You would in theory be able to do both but I wish you luck in getting tickets for both!

    This is a good question!

I want to go to Prague aswell as Dublin, and will be in the same situation as you if they wont allow me to buy more than 2 tickets...

    Anyone working for ticketmaster...?

Can someone help me understand this ticket thing? If I but two tickets for my two sons, using my credit card, will they be refused entry to the gig?.
Or do I have to give them the credit card to show at the door? I'm confused.

Tickets will be Limited to 2 per person

v A Valid I.D (Passport or driving licence) is required at time of purchase

v A Valid I.D (Passport or driving licence) matching the name on the ticket is required at entry to venue.

v All Tickets will be Scanned for validation on entry to the show

v Any Tickets resold will be refused entry to the venue

v Only Tickets purchased from Official Ticketmaster outlets will be valid

v No resale allowed under any circumstances

I would presume that the buyers name will be on the ticket so therefore the buyer must be one of the two to attend the concert to gain entry. My sister wants two tickets but will get me to try for her as she cant at work. So are these tickets valid if I dont go with her?

how can you show ID if you buy online from ticketmaster.ie ?? Does that mean they wont be on the website??

Yes Im thinking a lot of clarification required from Ticketmaster. Can they legally stop you entering a venue if you have a valid ticket?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 196 ✭✭Stef1979

I just phonedTicketmaster...when I finally got through to them they guy had never heard of Tom Waits (I had to spell his name for him), had no information on the venue and was unaware of any dates even though I was reading the information from their website!!:confused:....Im no clearer on if they'll be on sale on the website or how the tickets work if I book them and both tickets have my name on them but the person with me doesnt have the same surname!!:confused:.................

I'd imagine you enter you driving license number or passport number and it's put on the ticket and then checked on the door. But if no ticket is issued does that mean you queue twice at the venue? i.e. Once at the ticketmaster booth to get your pass and verify it then in a queue for the venue to handover your pass!
Thing that worries me is that if you suddenly find you can't attend, with this system you can't sell your ticket or tickets so you have to bin them, so possibly 280 euro in the bin, because as we know ticketmaster operate a strict no returns policy!

It seems that way but hold on, even if they have your card the ID (driving license or Passport) won't match so no entry!!! Because ticketmaster will probs say that they might have mugged you and took your ticket and card.

I'm a massive fan and was really looking forward to seeing him but I'm afraid they've gone a step too far this time with the ticket prices. 70-90 would have been plenty. It seems that they're well aware that plenty of people like me would consider him a 'must-see' no matter what the cost and are taking advantage of the fact.
It maybe time to recreate the glory of my teenage bailing into gigs years :pac:

[Hypothetical] Lemme get this right you could buy 2 tickets on your credit card, then sell one for say 700 quid on the affirmation you take the person to the gig with you, so you both get in? [\Hypothetical]

Now I hate touts, but surely thats one way around it?

Will it be possible to cancel and get a refund minus the booking fee?

I'm of two minds about the whole ticket price thing. But more than likely i'm going.

    However.........

    Phoenix €58 ($90)
    El Paso €51 ($80)
    Houston €55 ($85)
    Dallas €55 ($85)
    Columbus €55 ($85)
    Jacksonville €55 ($85)
    Mobile €55 ($85)
    Birmingham €55 ($85)
    Atlanta €42/€55/€67 ($65/$85/$105)

    Barcelona €100/€125
    Milan €90/€125
    Prague ?
    Paris €69.70/€100.50/€139
    Edinburgh €95/€120 (£75/£95)

    Dublin €116.25/€131.25

A price under €100 I would consider, and maybe if it was in a venue like Vicar Street. Doubt it's possible I could stomach more than that for one act in a venue that could very well be dire.

About this ticket system they are using... I wonder what one ticket-wielding chap would do in a situation where he can't or decides not to go to the gig? Will Ticketmaster willingly change the name on the ticket?

Perhaps - but I bet it would involve a massive "transfer" fee or some other horseshít.

On the Vicar St. thing - if this gig was in a venue like that I'd have no apprehension about the ticket price whatsoever... in fact I recall Neil Young playing there a few years ago for around the same price (which would have been worth more at the time, obviously) and thinking it was worth it.

My biggest concerns about this gig revolve around it being in a tent - I want to know what the capacity is, what the sound is going to be like and what the seating arrangements are. They're all things that could make or break this gig.

Definitely flogen, don't want it to be in some ****ty tent with wind and rain blowing in and thousands of people crammed in with a ****ty little stage.

Jesus I'm sooo confused. I am a huge Waits fan and I'd go see him above anyone else in the world. BUT! That price makes me sick. Include the price of travel and accomodation to Dublin and I can't afford it. Never ever thought I'd consider this but I mightn't go. Just have to lock myself away for the week of the gigs. Can't they reduce the price???

Another thought, Is the seating numbered? dO you have to sit in a given sseat or just in some general area? that's not much details being given out for this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 125 ✭✭renmorescout

Just checked with Ticketmaster and Aiken Promotions, and it seems there are only 5000 tickets for each gig. If bought online, the owner of the credit card must go to the gig, and if he bought two tickets, the holder of the other ticket has to be with him. The only way to get a ticket without a credit card, is to go to a ticket desk somewhere, and queue up! Both ways require you to have a passport or drivers licence, and produce this again at the door.
Hope this helps. Good luck to all in the morning.

I would love to have gone to this, but purely on principle I won't. Paying 80 quid (twice) to see Bruce was bad enough, but no way will I shell out this amount of moolah for a gig in a tent!!

Granted, I'm not a die-hard and can understand why people will go regardless of the cost, but the only way to stop artists (artists, NOT promoters, NOT TicketBa$tard) chargin Irish punters comparatively obscene prices is to refuse to shell out!

Yes, saw that too, looks like Waits is charging what the touts would have got for the tickets, shocking price for a gig in a tent

This venue better be bleedin good. The playhouse in Edinburgh looks good and more suitable to the likes of Waits. So I'll be able to buy my 2 tix online with my laser the way I always have I take it?

What night is everyone gonna rush to buy first I wonder?
