Same bridge (with tarmac added) that was there in 1798 as far as I know.

Yep; but not before 1787 when the original timber bridge was swept away during a flood similar to those in recent memory I warrant. It was built in 1790 by the (English) Oriel Brothers. It spans about 310 feet with 6 arches varying from 21ft 6ins at the banks to 32ft 6ins in the centre. Unlike the new bridge (Capt Weafer/Rafter whatever) it has stood the test of time and of better civil engineers than we obviously have now!

:o I didn't realise that it would appear so large . Anyways...right on. Overlooked by the Anglo-Norman Castle, if not the first then certainly one of the first to have been built. I always thought that the round tower was legit. Bummer when I found out the real history.

    Next photo please :D

The round tower is not a legitimate "Monastic" Round Tower. I know now that it is a war memorial. Is it the Crimean War patff can you remember? Since I was a kid no one enlightened or contradicted me when I referred to it as a Monastic Round Tower and it wasn't 'til I was in my late 30's that I paid a visit to the Heritage Centre to be informed.

Crossfarnogue in Kilmore Quay ...good guess

    Carrigbyrne?

That's it. Looking towards northwestish. Great place for wild blueberries, pity about the rubbish.

Ha I just thought of places that i knew Hill was in. Lovely walks up around there!! You'd want to be fit for parts of it though! And the Carrigbyrne Mini Farm there is very good.

Have to give a min for a picture!
