Been with them on a student contract for only 10€/month. You can imagine that at that price I was willing to put up with crap but I am getting more timeouts than with the slowest dialup. I was on to them and as many here was told that the engineers are looking into it ant they' call back...yada yada yada. They never call back andd when I called today( 19c/call) this very nice guy seem to be aware that it was crap but kept on coming up with all sorts of excuses about my computer not having the browser history cleaned...bull****. I use CCleaner and it lloads at startup, besides we have 3 computers and O2 is useless on all . Since they are laptops we used them on other connections as well and worked great as they should one is brand new and all are well equipped.I even bought a n Edimax router and mounted it on the window cill where the mast is visible- I get constant 80% signal that way but in real terms I still cannot make use of it-still times out and loads slower than dialup. It actually timed out twice as I was singning in here , I cannot buy my bus ticket online because it times out and on facebook is useless to the point that I have friends wondering why I don't reply to them...It's crap in real terms regardless of what I tried with their tech help and the buttom line is tha tI cannot say that I have BB. Is much faster to use your 2G phone...The mast is about 2mi away on the garda station within view and here are my speeds:If you are going to only use it on the bus and on the go there's probably nothing better but otherwise do a trial and do not believe it will get better cause it does not and while they are nice and helpful they won't call you back and the service won't get better. With what I pay I certanly tried everything I knew to make it work but it's time to face the sad truth-need true BB for home

That's pretty bad. Have they said that there will be any upgrades done or have they said they'd leave you of out contract?

5 bars HSDPA, 7.2 mbps sync speed. Tested at 3am, so contention wouldnt be much of an issue you would think.

    Pretty poor..

    still crap

hardly close to the 7.2 MBPS download speed they advertise......

I couldn't even log on last night, wonder if there was a signal problem in the area.

I see pings are still horrendus. Defo won't be gaming on these.

I still have one from over a year ago, just as a back up to my UPC BB.

Cannot believe that O2 still haven't sorted out their quite woeful service and speeds.

    Its shocking.

There is no incentive for them to do so.

Bad pings don't bother me as i don't game. The speeds are always the same with me, you would be lucky to get between 1 and 2 meg at the best of times.

Same as the last time I tested it.

I had a thread over on the talkto02 forums, but they never fixed it. Funny, considering I'm less than 100m from an O2 mast  and can't get a signal half the time

    O2, O2,
whatever shall we do with you

had this dongle setup for over a year

    issues
sometimes v slow ie "green light" slow 200kbps down on speedtest dongle breaks frequently requiring you to fork out €100 for their latest and greatest dongle

mostly ok speeds 1.5mbps on speedtest.net (PS you NEVER get this when actually downloading)

If i could and it was cheaper, I would probably change to fixed broadband as these HSPDA things seem unreliable (was two years with 3) - now to find some optical wires and lay them myself outside;-)

i would post up my speeds this evening but the dongle i got in the post yesterday morning is packed back into the box it came in ready to be posted back to them tomorrow. had no service last night, despite having 95% coverage/signal strength but 100% congestion!

I finally gave up on this rubbish service a few weeks back. Can't believe I stuck with it for so long.

    Orange pilled.

In the latest speed tests O2 are coming in at half the speed of 3 and Vodafone and outright worst major ISP in Ireland.

Half the speed of three, christ

Are others in South Dublin/Wicklow suffering a significant decline in O2 speeds over the last five/six weeks?

Yes. Severe difficulty. Im in Bray.

See this thread here on 02 forum.

    http://community.o2online.ie/t5/Broadband-and-Broadband-Coverage/Very-poor-connection-for-quite-a-few-days-Greystones/td-p/167796/page/5

Please join up, post your speed results and let them know we are not alone here. We are being treated like this is just a problem with each individual, rather than a collective problem of the whole of South Dublin/Wicklow East Coast. Its infuriating to be paying to 7Meg BB and getting such pathetic excuses.

All we hear is "Engineers are looking into it". For weeks now. I would love to see proof of these engineers going out at the time of day we are complaining about.

O2 should be ashamed of themselves. Im giving them a little while longer to realise the size of this problem before taking it further and getting out of my contract.

don't know how to put the image of the test results in, but this is what's on my screen

    Download 0.07 mb/s
    Upload 0.16mb/s
    Ping 912ms

I'm in South County Dublin......................if I'm down the country, the speed is worse again

In middle of nowhere in Galway 1 bar of UTMS, can't complain too much as my friend 500metres away had phoneline broadband that i cnanot get as Eircom have been talking about upgrading my lines for 9 years now :(

    1672481024.png

Noticed lately tho after 1am my broadband just stops working for no reason, sucks when i have a day off and want to game

Still it's handy for 5 euros a week even if the download limit is restricting
