I wonder who owns that place, and whether you'd get permission to renovate it to be liveable.

"renovate", I think is stretching it a bit! A good JCB would be required!!

Nah Croghan is the place to live.Just cross the border into wexford and the planning is easier.Large areas around there are above 1000ft asl with views out to the sea and believe me, they get snow!

Yes Danno that FI was posted earlier.

For as long as I've been model watching, theres been mouth watering stuff in FI that can mean nothing.
Lets play that one by ear.

We have some things on our side this winter that we didn't have before this early on anyhow and those are (1) A southerly tending jetstream (2) An early cooling down in Europe with exstensive snow cover out east. and (3) A tendency towards mid atlantic blocking with associated tendencies towards height rises over Greenland.

I'm constantly amazed this year how on other fora, people tend to post up images of December 1962 and how similar the conditions are with the various nearer term NWP outcome possibilities this year.

And of course you know what sort of winter 1963 was...

(If that were the case that was a hell of a long time between the Rinse and the Repeat :D)

I have a feeling we are walking blind into a nippy Northeaster late next week, with the chance of snow.

This is within T+96hrs... The 18z control dismisses it.

But i warn that i will not be surprised if we wake up to some stunning charts which will somehow be in the short term tomorrow.

Nothing prolonged, just a 2 or 3 day Northeaster with 850's down to -8.

    watch this space:D:D

Looks like cold Northerlies for Thurs/Fri. If this will be cold enough to produce snow at this time of the year, who knows - maybe on the mountain tops. Struggling to reach 6c here today...

I am still confident, again the 6z an outlier.

50% of bitter Northeaster from late Thursday

Well the UK seems to have got some and their Met office is saying more could be on the way, lets hope the rest of the winter builds on this now, another winter without decent snow and I'll have to book a year away in Canada to see some decent white stuff.

    Hi All

First post on this forum but have been looking in and monitoring for a while!

Just did a snow recce up the Dublin Mountains - nothing to report unfortunately. 7c down here and hovering between 3 and 4c up there and misty/drizzley.

Was actually expecting to see some snow on top of Kippure, but alas, no signs of any snow (although most of the top of Kippure itself was shrouded in mist).

Back to square one and the prospect of yet another ridiculous winter.:(

    Winter hasnt even started!
It's extremely rare to get snow in the first few weeks of December and thats FI now so we might as well enjoy the zonal stuff on the way. Far more intersting than still stratus muck.
