Apologies for the crappy phone images.

Was driving this morning, so I couldn't take a photo, but there's a silver MINI in Blackpool in Cork, with it's short chassis number instead of a registration plate. TKxxxxx. Couldn't believe it when I saw it.

you might know about this PD, i saw a Cooper S with a small silver badge on the boot, along the lines of "TT1", or "RR1" - is this a super-tuner version?
    Car is on Irish plates.

No, I didn't see these today, I found them while I was cleaning out the attic a couple of months ago. They were all taken at motor shows in Europe around 1990-91-92. The supercars of their time, some which made it into production, others didn't.

    1. Mercedes C112, mid engined, 6 speed, gullwing doors, used the same 408bhp engine from the W140 600SEL. Used for testing, it had ASR, ABC, distance radar and the rear wing will pop up as an airbrake in SLR/Veyron style. 0-60 in less than 5 secs which was huge for the time and could hit 310 kmh. Shame Mercedes never built it.

    MercedesC1120001.jpg

    2. BMW Nazca test prototype. 5l V12, 0-60 in 4.2s. 300 kmh RWD. One of a series of Nazca concepts they built, none of which saw production.

    MercedesC1120002.jpg

    3. Lotec C1000. 5.6l tuned Merc V8, twin turbo, 1000bhp, 0-60 in 3-2s 268mph top speed. Not sure how accurate those figures are but the only test I ever read about this car the journalist said at 310kmh it still had the pulling power of a 911 Turbo at 160kmh(!!!). Only one, maybe two were ever built.

    MercedesC1120005.jpg
    MercedesC1120006.jpg

    4. Koenig C62. From the man who gave us the twin turbo Testarossa (:)), the C62 was based on the Porsche 962 race car. 3.4l, 6 cyl, ca 800bhp, claimed 385 kmh and 0-60 in 3.3s. Not so sure how many were ever sold, Joachim Dauer also had a similar version to this car.

    MercedesC1120007.jpg
    MercedesC1120008.jpg

    5. Porsche 917. Its race history speaks for itself.

    MercedesC1120009.jpg

    6. Cartronic 911 Revanche. Twin turbo, 610bhp, ca 350 kmh, 0-60 4.2s. One of many 911 tuners, this car is ca 1990 but had its own variation of the more aerodynamic nose that was introduced a few years later with the 993.

    MercedesC1120010.jpg

    7. Isdera Spyder. Same engine as the Merc 190E 2.3 16v and then the 2.5 16v. Only a few of these were built, note how part of the windscreen/flyscreen opens up when the door is opened.

    MercedesC1120012.jpg

And its brother the Isdera 108i. Gullwinged model originally based on the Merc C111 concept of the early 70's. This version has standard door mirrors, some had no side mirrors but instead a periscope style mirror on the roof. Both cars were available with a range of engines from Mercedes or AMG, the top version had 390 bhp which gave it a 290 kmh top speed and 5 secs to 60mph. Sadly out of business now.
