    Car-ditioning

    DC Shoulder Warm Ups:
    3kg 'bell - 3 reps

    Scap Pushups:
    3x15

    75% Fran: (16/11/7)
w/45kg thrusters and bodyweight pull ups
    Time: 2 minutes 50 seconds

    60% Fran: (11/9/5)
w/ 45kg thrusters and bodyweight pull ups
    Time: 2 minutes 55 seconds

    Crosstrainer:
    20minutes - 260kcals

Very happy with that performance... stormed thru the thrusters on the 75%'er. Dunno what happened there, but I'll definitely take it!! 75% in 2.50 puts me around 3.47 for a full Fran. Obviously that's not going to happen because the later reps are the ones that cause the breaks to be taken and time to increase so I'm not getting ahead of myself just yet.

When I can storm thru a 75%'er in 2.30 wthout having to split up any of the sets I might take a run at the real deal. I absolutely don't wanna put myself thru hell and come up a few seconds short, that's for sure!!

I was FUBAR'd going into the 60% round, so it's no surprise it took longer! I was actually still standing after the 75% round but was KO'd after the 60%. Werd....

    Crosstrainer was as you'd expect....

Front squats and banded box squats tomorrow... gonna keep overall volume relatively low so my shoulders are in tip top form for my last bench session on Sunday.

    Skwaats

    Band Pull Aparts:
    monster mini 3x15

    Power Cleans:
    40kg x3
    60kg x3
    70kg x2
    80kg x1
    90kg x1
    100kg x1
    105kg 3x2

    Front Squats:
    60kg x3
    100kg x3
    120kg 3x3

    Box Squats w/ green band:
    60kg x3
    90kg x3
    110kg x3
    120kg x3
    130kg x3

    Band Pull Aparts:
    monster mini 3x15

    Pulldown Abs:
    warm ups
    Plate 12 3x10

    Reverse Hypers:
    10kg x10
    20kg 3x12

Grand oul day today... didn't push too hard cos I've a big bench workout tomorrow.

The power cleans felt good today.

Front squats were alright, but the weight felt a lot heavier. Haven't done em in a long time so I guess that's part of the reason.

Strength on the banded squats is still on the up. Fancied 140kg x3 today but I wanted to save my shoulders for tomorrow. They were done beltless too.

Pulldown Abs were up a bit today. Gonna tackle my nemises (plate 13) again next time.

The reverse hyper's awesome. Hercs just got it the other day.... lots of fun to be had on it. Feels soooooo nice on my lower back and my entire erector region was pumped to bits after.

Gonna spend today resting up to get ready for tomorrw and hope my shoulder holds up. It's been coming along slowly but surely I think.

Ahhhhh were you wearing a blue polo shirt??

You couldn't have picked a better day to come in... the gym was still sparkling after it's official re-opening yesterday. I think the Lord Mayor and a few CC guys were there for it.

You shoulda come say hi... Like I said in the gym behaviour thread, training hard isn't about stomping around during sets, it's about actually getting the work done when you're under the bar!!!

    Ya thinking of joining?

    I was indeed..

I was going to hang around in there and go over to ya but my Da got a migraine so we had to leg it.

I'm sure I'll get another chance, I'm defo going to join man. Its close enough to where I work in town so would be handy to get to. What's the deal with joining? Do you still need someone to sign for you before you do?

We were actually up there for that reason, my Da was invited up to the club to see the new gear! Pity he didn't get to hang around though.. I've seen pics of the gym from the 80's and from some of your vids but you really get to appreciate it when your in there.

That's gas.. he used to train there ya?? Haven't seen any pics of the old Ormond Quay Hercs, but from what I could gather it was a bit ummm... rustic. There's some great pics on the walls and around the platforms downstairs of lifters from the club throughout the years.

Don't think ya need anyone to put you forward anymore, but if ya do I'll kindly oblige!

The old building was definitley not a commercial gym! Rustic is a good description alright.

Thanks man I'm going to head up on Monday and see what the deal is, and if I can just join straight away then all well and good. But if I need to be put forward I'll avail of the offer if that's cool?

Are you planning on joining? You can't just show up and lift like.

Usually opens around 10am or so on Sunday but all the fun happens from 11.30-12 onwards when I start benching...

Solid session today.... All the 195's were touched, paused and pressed without any real difficulty. After the disaster that was last week this was a welcome relief. Feeling confident going into the comp next weekend now.

    Should have a vid later.

Big shout out to Transform for the advice he gave me on how to fix my shoulder this week and keep my scap surpressed during the presses. It really worked!

I though your comp was today.. me wishing you luck like an eejit:D

What are you aiming for in the comp?

    It is equipped yes?

What would you reckon your max raw bench would be??

    1) double bodyweight at least (200kg), 205-210kg if I'm having a good day

    2) yup

    3) no idea... haven't trained it at all recently. Everything's feeding into the shirted bench. It took a huge dive as the additional shirted volume was added in. PR's 140kg x4.

Holy sh1t, that is a massive bench, hope you nail it next week!!

I would have thought that you would need to keep the raw bench high so that it wouldn't affect the equipped lift!? Shows what I know about equipped lifting..

    Cheers dude.

And nope, they're two completely different lifts basically. With raw work you fail near the bottom, shirted at the top. Obviously I consider shirted more important because it's how I compete, so it gets the attention. As a result I dedicate more time to training the top end of my bench, and the bottom end gets neglected. So raw suffers while equipped goes up!

My favourite part is how it looks like I'm set up around 16 or 17 seconds, and you'd think "yeah, that's a decent arch". But then I get up high on my upper back and at 27 seconds it's just stupid looking!!

i went down there today! you coulda told me they kept the doors locked! luckily some guy was coming in around 30 sec after me so he let me in. The gym looks awesome, so old school, and the mono is sexy! It would take me about 55 min to get in there by Luas/Walk. Which would probably be a bit too long. I just gotta guage how long a cycle would take.

Quick question for ya, is there any administration ever down there? like i was lookin for someone to quote me a price but i saw no one!

    Well you never asked :p

The club's run by a committee. There's usually members of it around at all times during the day, you just need to ask someone about joining and they'll point you in the right direction.

Not sure how much it is to join for junior membership, but adult is a €25 joining fee, €80 for the first quarter and every quarter thereafter.

Oh and just a word of warning, you can only use downstairs until 7pm.
when your 16 and your mom doesnt like you in town after dark its kinda hard :/

Dude, c'mon..... How can you not expect to be abused when you say things like that?? It's happened all of us yeah, but I bet we didn't announce it to the world!!
