I done my first flight today with Connaught Aero Club. It was amazing. The weather couldnt have been more suitable. The aircraft is a piper cherokee.
Flying time was about 45mins. We took off and flew north for some climbs, turns and descents, then flew back for a touch and go and round again for a full stop landing. The only other traffic at the time was a scheduled Ryanair arrival. Im amazed at how realistic FSX is. Ive been bitten by the bug.
    Here's a few pics.

Also a good advertisment for the Nokia N95!!

My bad. Thought it was the wing cos of the way it appears to slope from left to right. But given the altitude/poistion of the plane of course its the nose.

I love the "oven knob" type fuel caps on pipers wings :)

Here's my small contribution so, taken with another Nokia but nowhere near as good as bandit's phone. These were taken in Carlow I.T's aircraft hangar. Apparently the Fouga had to be dismantled and then reassembled because the hangar door is too small...still I suppose it'll make it slightly harder for the local scumbags to go for a joy ride in it.

    Fouga Magister.

I'm going to attempt to get some better shots when I'm back in there, this was on our first day and I didn't have enough time to get some decent photos.

Nice. I didnt know there was such a thing as the aviation hanger at carlow IT!!!

I must have spent waaaay to much time dancing on tables in Scraggs :)

Are you doing an aviation related course there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 857 ✭✭✭Corega

Scraggs isn't a bad place to wile away the afternoons is it? Especially when the alternative is a double maths class. :P

I'm doing Aircraft Systems in CIT, hoping to head off to UL once I'm finished up here. Are you a present or former student yourself pclancy?

    Cheers!

Was a lovely day for flying.

When I came back in for landing ATC (wrongly) cleared me to onto finals. However my 65 kt approach speed was nothing compared with the Iberia A320 on downwind so tower told me to go around. As i adjusted east of the runway doing an arbit the A320 turned onto finals. I fumbled around to get the camera out as it passed right by me but ended up pressing the wrong bloody button.
Would have been a great photo!

Part of a transport museum in Speyer in germany. I think if you google Speyer you can find a link to the museum, Unfortunately, I was only passing through and didn't get time to visit. It looked interesting though, with a lot of other planes on display like that. On my list of places to go back to. There is an airport next door, so you can fly-in, park-up and visit. Hotels in the area as well.

    Bumpity

Garda Helicopter a few hours ago, after initially assisting in cliff rescue. CG wasn't initially available, so GASU located casualty, dropped one of their observers off as Cliff Rescue couldn't pinpoint the casualty. CG arrived later to do the winching.

They would deserve it. Should have gotten them an ice cream from Maudes! The Fire Brigade sometimes stop off for one on the way home. Will remember next time.

Nice chaps, gave us the tour, unfortunately not the joyride.

Wings over Wairapa airshow was on here a few weeks back. Gorgeous day with 31 degree sun and lovely scenery. Masteron is a lovely small airfield with Beech 1900s as its only commercial traffic. They have several clubs and business there that restore WW1 and WWII aircraft so they were the main features of the day. Cant be arsed link them all individually so check out my photostream :)

It was about a year and a half ago, on 29R (well spotted). The weather was quite bad that morning and the second it improved everyone got signed off at the same time and ran for their plane. I could not find my instructor so hence ended up near the end of the queue.
