Ray Darcy Show celebrating 10 years on Today FM this morning. They must be doing something right!

Funny show this morning - they are playing some of their best bits.

Funny show this morning - they are playing some of their best bits.

The bit of the guy who was describibng what they were going to do with the groom on the stag weekend in New York (attach him to a midget) nearly made me crash my car I was laughing so much.
Does anyone know if they followed through on this story after the stag weekend?

It was really really funny. Darcy said that guy lost his job as a result of that phone call. Not sure about any follow up.

Really worth listening to the guy talking about hiring a midget. 46:00 Part 1

Another funny piece at 35:00 Part 3

Also worth listening to Jack L's version of Gnarl's Barkley's "Crazy" - absolutely breathtaking

I was a bit peed off with Ray yesterday when he tried to stop Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh speaking Irish. Claiming using the Irish language excludes people. 99.9999999 % of the show is in English.

Now I am not on here to debate the use of Irish on mainstream radio. But Ray regularly uses Irish, just this morning referring to the cold weather, he said an winter ag teacht. I think that is absolutely awful to treat an Irish language enthusiast when they are a guest on his show.

Just annoyed me a bit, I always liked to hear a small bit of Irish on the radio. Not so much as to exclude people but some little bit harms no one.

    Did he really?

He pissed off more people than he thinks.

Ya, it was poor form. Kinda felt like he was trying to make her feel bad for speaking Irish. He can be very negative to people at times.

Any truth in the rumor that he was away from the show getting married?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,117 ✭✭✭AnnyHallsal

It would explain the fact that Mairéad and Will are also absent.

Ya all slag off D'Arcy but he's nowhere as bad as the guy Cawley filling in for him at the moment. The guy is terrible, he has such an awkward Partridge-esque manner about him. God knows why he's been with the station so long.

A little harsh me thinks. Cawley is a music jock pure and simple, he's along the lines of Damien Farrelly at 2FM, both have a similar style, upbeat, specialising in thrifty links, a bit if showbiz news and reading listeners texts. It may sound dull to you but there is an artform to it, and his style is suited to the majority of stations out there.

Artform me hole, he's terrible. If he was any good he would of held his afternoon show that he once had before they shifted him around until he was given the fill in job banging out cheesey choons whenever a regular is out sick or off getting married.

I've listened to Today FM since it's started so I've listened to him long enough to make an informed opinion.

I am beginning to think this may be the case tbh! They said they were doing some TOP secret thing this week and they asked for volunteers to join them. Maybe they wanted listener participation in the cermony. Plus why would they all be off?

I am usually wrong on these things though!! lol

Its probably something really dull now!

Ray Foley show is speculating at the minute and hinting at a wedding, but that prob means its NOT true so!!

We will have to wait until the morning it seems! He is back!

(I could have sworn Phil Cawley mumbled under his breath "Ray will be back tomorrow,..... no honeymoon"... ) but maybe Im being paranoid!! haha

He's outside my office building now with a film crew and bunch of extras. Looks like they are filming a TV show or advert with him in it.

Did aryone else think Hermione Hennessy was a giant PITA on the show...Ray made a comment about her being patronising and then back-peddled a bit as she seemed to be offended...IMO she was, and sounded exactly the opposite of her father....i'd bet he'd be embarrased by her, she sounded totally pretentious ..too much time in the UK me thinks..........

Spot on. All she sings is covers. Hardly talented either.

Stating she is 'in with the music' and never even heard of Villagers or that he was nominated for a Mercury
