    celebrity deathmatch:

the rules of the game vs the spirit of the game

    result: no winner

all time bestseller - the chapter on opponents reverse implied 2 outer tilt odds will surely go down a treat.

In my dreams, I see Chief at a table with Phil Helmuth, and dogging him in the worst way and then telling him 'you got chiefed'. And the carnage that ensues. :D

Not any cool looking dudes on the Irish poker scene, although I think I'm the only one who can look cool in the clothes I wear. Dunnes finest..(oops advertising can get me banned..again)

I'll be looking rather cool when I sport my "We won the treble" on the front and F*CKING AGAIN!!! on the back.

Im my dream, Tony G calls the chiefs all-in with AA and gets dogged by K J. As Tony G rises to launch a into a tirade of abuse. A fanfare noise goes off and Tong G gets presented with a 'congratulations, you've been chiefed' prize , a freeroll into the Sporting Emporiums Wednesday game plus a copy of the Chiefs new book. 'rags for riches' .

I really hope you get to wear that one. I'd be happy to take the title though.

I never tell the truth at the poker table. Nobody does. I've been caught out a few times, and it's embarrasing to say the least. You definitely need a tough skin when playing poker. It's not a question of honesty or integrity, it's just poker. KP was playing by the rules Olly, nothing wrong with that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,450 ✭✭✭Gholimoli

    i got chifed .
my QQ v 77 and he hits the case 7 on the flop to knock me out.
    that is all.

get yourself into the SE more often, he plays every night.

On Monday night he called an all in with Qh3h for about 35% of his stack. Later he called an all in with 62o against a shorties JJ and hit two pair - and I believe it wasnt a case of "call with any 2 - im priced in"

A few weeks ago he reraised me all in with A8o against my JJ - I flop a set and he get RR straight - tis unreal what goes on in there..

the more i think about it the more i'm confident my exit hand is the worst hand of poker i have played in about 18 months.

The Chief had a few losing months after he stopped fluking hands despite making spewy moves like those described above. Now he is back running better than God and has started getting a few results. The swagger has reappeared aswell. *Shudders*

Sorry Niall and Ian but your totally wrong and its nothing to do with been thick or light skin for that matter. Also without full details of the instant or talking to someone else at the table I dont understand how either of you could take this line, unless you've been talking to Ken, which as already proved he cant remember the full story.

Its bad ethic at the table to ask the losing player to show his hand, but its even worse ethic to ask the deal to remove them from the muck. I dont mind anyone asking to see cards at showdown, but I would never ask another player, specially if the pot in question as cripple them or knock the player out. Also, there is the correct way to asks and shouting at people is defo not the way.

The cards were in the muck, I offer to take them out of the muck and show but was not given this option, ( this was me been helpiful), when I was not allowed to take them out, I declared my hand. Nobody on the table had any interest what the hand was except KP. I dont know what sort of idiot KP is, but asking to see a hand in a big pot like this indicates that I must have had a set or 2 pair or flush, so all the info he was getting was that I had a raising hand preflop that I raise with. When I told him that I had 88 he refused to accept this and still ask for the TD to make a ruling. Now every beginner knows you cant take cards out of the muck so why he need a ruling is beyond me.

As I already mention, I told Ken if he ask for a ruling I would take this as a insult, there is honour between players and telling lies during a hand or after is fair enough, but some of us understand when there is nothing to be gain out of lying. Ken insisted on a ruling, which he was never going to get anyway. I would lend money to any player on the circuit due to the fact of honour between players.

As far as I'm concern Ken as been insulting to me and the game of poker in general. I've discuss what happen with a number of people last night and since and they totally agree Ken was out of order and been a total muppet. I would have accept Ken as a mate before this incident, but now I wont tell you what I think of him. This matter will not be drop and I hope Ken can find a apology, so we can move on.

It's bad etiquette but it's within the laws of the game. If someone was raising my blinds all night I might ask the dealer to see a hand that was mucked at showdown to get some information.

As far as I'm aware some cardrooms have a ruling that if the dealer can clearly identify both the players cards in the muck, they can be retrieved and shown.

I'm shy about €3,450 for a tournament in april. :o

i think it is poor ettiquette to ask to see them, and i'm 99% certain that if it was just another mug kp wouldnt bother asking to see the cards, but I think its because he respects you as a player that he will probably play against numerous times in the future that he wanted a bit of info.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

yeah lending money to people is generally a bad idea. Whatever about honour. I'm still owed money by 2 fairly well known players.

    To quote Will again:

"Neither a borrower nor a lender be" is the best advice for everyone IMO.

Ian I've never seen that anywhere in the world not mind Ireland if that was rule in any casino, I would not player there.

The above is my final post on the subject, this is not a matter for boards in general and it was not my intention for this to be discussed here. I will be take this matter up with Ken directly the next time I see him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,070 ✭✭✭Ollieboy

I take the thing back about lending money....lol
