Can't speak from personal experience (FF isn't really my cuppa tea), but it seems to be looked favourably upon over on Metacritic - average score of 80%.

Supposedly it's rather good. Just remember it's not actually a Final Fantasy game, it plays completely differently. The FF name was just slapped on there to increase sales which has been happening a lot recently.

    I like this from IGN

I liked My Life as a King more and more as I played it. Sure, it's basically a Final Fantasy game where you stay at home and send other people out to play Final Fantasy. But there is satisfaction to be gained from building a kingdom and keeping your subjects happy.

I think that I will purchase this tonight and give it a go

    Samurai Showdown 2 (NeoGeo) - 900
    Pitstop 2 (C64) - 500
    Ecco Jr. (Megadrive) - 800

    Splatterhouse 2 (Megadrive) - 800

Not really, If I want to buy it I'll have to update my consoles firmware which means I can never play Super Smash Bros. Brawl again.

Two ways around this Retro.. there's the hard way and the illegal way.

Hard way is updating console, buying game, downgrading back to 3.2

the other way , well i cant really talk about the other way :) Im sure i could say some stuff about and still be within the rules of the charter but i think its probably best to keep it clean.

Just as well you're not missing much these days... :)

Wish they'd release some more AAA titles on the VC.

    I'm actually loving this game.
It reminds me of games on-line made bigger and more detailed.

Spent all night playing it and more than likely tonight also

    Nice releases tonight.

Super Mario RPG: Brilliant RPG game very like the paper mario games that never got a european release. Pretty much essential.

Super Mario Bros. The lost levels: Rereleased on the VC so you can pick it up if you missed it the first time.

Great to see SMRPG get a euro release finally. Pity nintendo won't be getting my money until I can play Brawl after updating.

Why would updating prevent you from being able to play Brawl?

I'm guessing that he's using a freeloader and updating would make the freeloader obsolete.

Hmm, good news then. Was afraid to go near the shopping channel because in the past you had to update to get into the shopping channel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,751 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

It'll prompt you to update, Retr0 (I don't think it will update without your permission). It pops up a message to say that if you console is modded etc that it might brick it (that was nice of them). If that happens, just reset rather than click OK.

Having said that, I thought the Wii (and the shop channel) was updated to include the WiiWare stuff.

Looks like we are having another Hanabi festival. Not much of interest other than Konami's long lost classic Bio Miracle an Do Re Mi which is supposedly another classic. No Earthbound unfortunately or Earthbound zero :(

No Ys book 1 & 2 either which the yanks got.

That is the one VC release I am dying to play. If they release Earthbound here I will be a happy camper.

Mix of Wiiware and VC games tonight.

    VC

    Bio Miracle
    Dig Dug

    Wiiware

    Critter Roundup
    Maboshi (some puzzle game)

Looks like Biomiracle is the only game worth downloading, thank god it's a cracker.

    i want Ys(1&2) :(

but nice to see we're still getting wiiware games during the hanabi festival, was afraid we wouldnt be

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 54,109 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Ys 1&2 would be nice as well but it's not listed in the Hanabi festival. Hopefully it's released outsideof it at the correct price.

Anyone seen any of the new Bomberman release on WiiWare? widescreen, 8 players on line, Mii compatability, multiple modes. expected to be 1000 wii points in the US. Could well be worth a look.

    2 decent games this week:

Chase HQ (TG16): Really bad version of an overrated game
    Spelunker (NES): Utter ****
Ys book 1 & 2 (TG16): Brilliant RPG collection, well worth picking up
DoReMi Fantasy (SNES): Fantastic SNES forgotten classic, a must have.

    What are these Y games?

Hearing a bit about them since the americans got them on release

It's an action RPG a bit like zelda but with a weird control scheme. The music is excellent like all Falcom games and especially in the TG16 version on Wiiware.

I think the ever excellent hardcore gaming 101 would describe it better:

I'm excited about this one, all the previews I've seen look good and its not bad value for a tenner.

Anything to differentiate it from the other 532 versions?
