    hilarious,
i left for work at 7.30 this morning passed lidl in baldyole about 7.35.
about 15 people queuing up outside.

    all older people.
i wonder how many of these oaps really want a 32" flat screen and how many were sent out in the cold by their kids to queue up outside lidl...

Got the Aldi one on the Fonthill Road Aldi store. Was there just after 8 and got the 2nd last ticket for one. They had 16 in total. Have it at home took it out to have a look but havent set it up yet.
It has a HDMI port which is good.
Brightness on the box says 500cd/m2 as opposed to the 400cd/m2 advertised so thats good too!
/edit just after reading on avforums that the manual says 400cd/m2 to. oh well...

que at lidl finglas started at 2 and there was only 7 tvs I just made it in the que at half 6 to get the last ticket.

Now anyone having problems with the sound on the lidl one mine is poxy for tv full screen (lots of crackling with loud sounds) but perfect in pip which makes no sense. Av and hd work perfect just the tv in full screen giving me problems.

Went to LIDL Coolock today at 7.30 all 8 tickets had already been given out. went to aldi and all 11 tickets had gone. why have they got so few of them? LIDLi are idiots - why did they drop they're price if they had so few of them? They would have shifted them for 777 anyway if the only had a couple of hundred - muppets!!!!

Booked the xtra-vision one today anyway and paid a 200 deposit- said they'd have it in 5 working days. I e-mailed the bloke from the sbp and he said the specs are better on the x-tra vision one and it appears to be a better brand.

Ha!! 2am!! It wasn't THAT much of a bargain was it?

They'd wanna be selling 'em for about €400 to get me to queue at 2am...even then I'd have to think about it...

Actually he is right, the xtravision tv is of a much better build quality and is not a low quality rebadged set! the actual screen is far superior in terms of brightness as are the connections on the back.

But for 650 the aldi is still very good value

Mirai have been around for YEARS, They only started making TV's in the last year though, were making monitors before that.

Whatever .. its a bit of a step up from a 17" TV for me :)

This plus xbox media center is the Business ......

over 700GB of attached storage ... and plays any format, divx,xvid,mov,wmv,mp3,ogg,mp4,mpeg2

It'll even play an ISO ;)

And with a remote control too ...

Xbox cost me 80 neurons, chip cost 25 euros, plugged straight into my existing network at home.

theres no better option out there ... even for a system costing 700 eur+

I take it you got one of each of the tvs from aldi, lidl and a mirai branded one and have tested them extensively then as otherwise you'd be just speculating right?

i assume these are sold at a loss, or at very best break even by aldi/lidl. why would they only have so few?

i presume whatever space was left in the container full of cheap beer was filled with tvs instead of a specific container.
they would then have been distributed based on each shops prominence

I was one of the lucky ones that managed to get one of only 6 available from the Lidl on the Greenhills Rd. Got home set it up and just like Krsitok there is crackling with loud sounds. Any Ideas........

Sounds like the speaker are being driven to hard, or distortion of bass sounds, can you reduce the bass, or are there different sound/equalizer settings that might help.

Just home from Lidl Mullingar, for the laugh I asked the girl on the till if they had any of the TV's left? :D She asked me what drugs I was on! :D:D

They had 10 in total, queueing started at 6.50am and all tickets were gone before the store opened...

It seems to be the tv tuner thats causing the problem imo. Av in and composite hd in don't have a problem with the sound in fact the speakers are clear and crisp from anything other than the cable/aerial. Its a damn shame cause the screen is very good other than that.

the TV I bought in Lidl also has a sound problem,(as desribed above) I phoned the helpline this morning and he said they would send out a technician to look at it, he also said I was the only complaint that they had for this problem!

I must say, the Aldi TV was the best buy i've made in a while, the Picture Clarity, Color and Quality is excellent!

The builtin speakers are surprisingly good, although i turned them off and plugged into my Hi-Fi
