I have just moved over here to Ireland (Carndonagh)
And wanted to know where i can go to get information & to buy an RC Car.

I suppose the largest hobby shop in Ireland is:
Green Hobby & Model, the Carson distributers retail shop in Dublin.

Then you've got
The Model Centre, Capel Street, Dublin - does a lot of GV cars, some parts common with Carson.

The next in size would be
Noel Barrett in Cork
Marks Models
Model World in Galway
Magowans in Sligo
RB (Yeats) Models in Clonmel
Boys Toys
Model Centre in Johnstown
Broderick in Ennis
Athlone models
Longford Model

I have one Steve, nice car yes, posted some pics of it here in the Pictures thread. Front suspension is a tiny bit weak, I hopped mine up a bit with aluminium wishbones but one of the struts got a bit bent up too, she's a two wheel drive but fun for bashing about with and the 15 engine is a grand engine too. I suppose you get what you pay for heh, it's one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest HPI models around and it's a fun buggy but personally speaking I'd save another 50-100 euro and get a stormracer, it's faster, tougher and 4 wheel drive, it's a way nicer buggy too and that engine is pretty powerful. I do know one guy here who has had fuel tank trouble with his stormracer, but mine was grand at all times, luck of the draw maybe.
Just my opinion of course, at the end of the day the decision is yours.
I have no experience of Traxxas models or any other manufacturer if you're talking 1/10th scale buggies.
I do have a Ho Bao Hyper 1/8th but that's a different animal totally heh

That looks like the chinese one with the heavy iron "cooling head" that doesn't cool.
I can't be 100% sure from the pic, but it looks the same.
I am also pretty sure that the recoil starter is a strange fit that is difficult to get if/when it breaks.
We had a thread about that car last year approx. when someone got one and asked questions about running it.
If you do a search you should find it.

that was a mate of mine bought a nitrotekand posted on here about it, ended up having to hop it up majorly to get it to run right... not sure about the issues or the cooling head tho, he may not have run it enough to find out. If you absolutely positively have to find out I can call him.
PS: when it went it was pretty fecking fast, and I have unedited video on this pc to prove it heh, I was surprised how fast it was and sounded nice too.

Model centre in Waterford is very good I find for bits and bobs, they do Traxxas which is always a plus.

Yeah It was I who had troubles with the stormrace but thats mostly of my fault;) the nitro tek ones dont seem to be great - unpopular, the stormracer isnt very populer either but it should be, I dont have much to else to say but:

ya bought it a few times alright he only has the omega and the other green synthetic mix one thinks it o connors or something. but my bro slim19198 (the fella u bought the t-maxx off of) has a few gallans of 16% model technics so using that now the revo runs better on that.

Did you try "Sidewinder" or does he sell it?

I also got a gallon of MT 16% from Slim
Strange thing is the T-Maxx will run fine on it but my revo sucks on that stuff.
I was running 20% Blue Thunder and have bought a gallon of Tornado 25% to try but at almost €60 a gallon I dont think I will be using it all that often.. Hence the enquiry about Noel's stuff and prices.

well the omega is not all that good but the synthetic mix is farely ok 15% at €30 a gallon i think he does it in 25% aswell

How did you manage that, there the same engines and carbs, just copy the settings from the T-maxx onto the Revo. That should help;)

the head differs I know but no matter what settings I used it would just about rev high enough to change into second gearand then just crawl along..

No popint in copying settings from T-Maxx to the Revo as no twe engines have the same settings

Its probly cause your sons T-maxx has a better cooling head and it is allowing the engine to be leaned that bit more. Or your revo might be losing compression or has an airleak.

Nope,
In fact the T-Maxx still has its original head fitted and as everyone knows the Revo head is superior..;)

No air leak or anything on the revo as I can take it through a half of a tank or so and then decide to leave it tickover which it will do quite happily

Which tells me that the Revo is in better tune than the T-Maxx right now.:rolleyes:

You could just try setting it back to factory settings and tune it from there so it will run on the same fuel, its just a bit handier having the same fuel;)

Actually I didd get some that came to like $139.85
Then took the $20 introductory offer off
left $119.85
Got a call from UPS saying there was charges due
VAT = €10.85
other charges = €13.50
Total charges =€24.35
VAT amount = €2.84

Total due = €27.10

I still cannot figure the double VAT charge?

Anyway i still reckon I save quite a bit on bringnig the stuff from there.:D

Its cause you to went with ups shipping, they charge vat like that anyway. You shouldn't of getting charged vat at anything under E100 thats only a cod.
If your ordering a small amount of things use the air shiping method, it will still take a week. I ordered a few stuff and got the air shipping method not ups, the box was about the size of a shoe box and I was charged no vat.
Your still right though you will save a lot;)

THE ONLY AGENTS I CAN FIND ARE IN NORTHERN IRELAND

Contact the guys over at NAVAN NITRO NUTS

They run quite a few Thunder Tigers and have been in contact with TT themselves for some sponsorship.
