I tried the loose boxers on day 4 and i couldn't wait to get home to change them. tighter boxers are helping but i still can't touch the head of mine without discomfort. my head has also gone very dry and looks like skin is peeling off.I'm on day 10 and my stitches still haven't started to come out. other than that, everything is fine.

6 months today for me since I had the op, no regrets at all.

Just a quick question for anyone that's further along than me, the small ridges that were there where the stitches cut into the skin, how long did it take for them to go away? Most are gone but there's still just one we area where it looks like it will be another while before they dissapper

its good to someone post here that way ahead of us. do you mind if i ask you a few questions like how long did it take for the extreme sensitivity to go away and how long did you have to wait before masturbating and have sex?

  • Registered Users Posts: 79 ✭✭Shoco83

The sensitivity was worse with lose boxers, but once you wear them for a bit you don't actually be long getting used to it, only takes a few days, I found going for a decent walk each day with loose trackie bottoms worked for me, was easy to adjust myself if needed. I think you just have to get on with it but will be the better for it when going back to work.

Masturbation I waited until after my follow up appointment, which was 4 weeks after the op and all the stitches were out, sex was probably another 3 or 4 weeks

I was able to masturbate, with extreme care and plenty of oil, after about 7 days. Had sex after 10 days, again, very carefully!

Now that you're circumsized, you'll need some sort of oil or lotion for masturbation. It'll be months before the glans skin hardens sufficiently to allow 'dry' masturbation.

In my own case, I used Bio-oil to masturbate on the basis that it would help with the scarring. I also used plenty of lube for sex. Once inside you'll find conditions ideal for your sensitive glans :-)

cheers for the replies lads, ill be 2 weeks post op tomorrow and my stitches are definitely starting to come off. there's zero chance i could masturbate yet. thanks for the Bio-oil tip. I've seen on a few sites that you should wear a condom while starting to have sex again? is there really a need?

Hey Cyclepath, need to get circumcised here myself and am trying to plan a bit before I book a date for the surgery. How long was it before you could cycle again after your surgery? My bike is what gets me around and need to plan for been off it for a while I guess

It wasn't as bad as I thought tbh, I was back on the saddle within 3 weeks. It required some adaptation which I'll PM you about - don't want other boardsies chucking up their breakfasts...

I stumbled across this thread about 169 pages too late. Just wondering, why do Irish lads decide to get circumcised?

Read about 1% of the thread and it will be pretty easy to find out why

For medical reasons in the vast majority of cases. Basically their foreskin won't retract in a normal fashion. Though what has surprised me is that full circumcision seems to be the first port of call and only real option given for the majority. Partial or where only the tight part is removed leaving most of it intact seems to be rarely on the table. You'd think that for such a common enough complaint less intrusive options would be more available?

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

How do people clean underneath if they're unable to retract it? They just simply can't clean it I guess?

It’s 2 and a half weeks after my surgery and the stitches are healing well. My frenulum is still very swollen. Is that normal?

Swelling is normal, but if the area feels very hot to the touch, watch out for infection, especially around the areas where the stitch holes are...

it doesn't feel hot or anything like that, its just underneath the head that's still swollen. it was much more swollen the first few days. i also find that where the stitches are can feel a little itchy sometimes. is the just because its healing?

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 davi1989

Day 27 for me and everything finally seems to be going back to normal. I couldn't hold back any longer so I tried to masturbate for the first time last night. It took a while to get used to it and it certainly feels different, but I have to say I had one of the best orgasms of my life. I'm gonna leave it another few days before I try again because it's still not 100% yet.

It's gonna be 6 weeks on Friday since I had my op. I still have 3 stubborn stitches that just won't fall out. I'm still a little bit sensitive at times but I'd rather that than have no feeling at all. I'm hoping I get to use it pretty soon 😀

Just a quick and probably final update, today marked 11 weeks since I had my circ. I finally got to put the lad to the test and after feeling both cut and uncut, I prefer sex now. Day to day my penis has lost a lot of sensitivity (which is a good thing) but during sex it feels amazing. It was a long journey but I feel I'm completely over it. Feel free to PM me if any of you have any questions about what to expect. Happy days lads ðŸ˜

Sorry to hear that mate, when you say still sore, do you mean on a day to day basis?

Anytime I masturbate. Not sore otherwise but would be sore if walking ooutside without underwear not that I'd do that anyway.
I was 57 when I had it done. Im insulin dependent diabetic also. The pain is the same as when I used to try to pull back foreskin before I was circed.

I get the odd twinge every now and then but it's not painful. I agree that not wearing any underwear would be a big no no..

I need to get this procedure done myself but not sure when is the best time to get it done given the normal recovery period.

The doctor has availability the week before Christmas which would be good with work but I would not like to be stuck indoors all over Christmas unable to socialise.

Anyone have any experience of attempting social nights out after 5 -7 days from the procedure?

Not sure if I should wait until the New Year once the Christmas/New Year festivities are over.

If your recovery is anything like mine, you won’t be going out socializing after 5-7 days. The first week is very hard and you probably won’t leave the house much the first week. I’d leave it until after Christmas tbh..

I’m finding that wearing a condom gets rid of any bit of sensitivity I’ve got left. Any way of dealing with that?

I'd say no, you would have to be going to a cubicle to check bandages etc and somebody could knock off of you in a crowded pub. Also I'd get some sort of a clean medical case to keep all of the bits and pieces you may need for dressing and cleaning. It can seem a bit raw and gruesome at first, but provided you don't smoke, the healing is pretty quick. I also found that medi-honey gel speeds up the process.

    Gael23. Two suggestions.
Short term. Get yourself highly aroused before putting the condom on and completing the act.
Long term. Maybe think about restoring a foreskin. Do a Google search for the term "Foreskin restoration". That's what I have done.
