you're not being stupid, you're being human. You're scared about it because you don't know what it involves. It will not be nearly as bad as you think, I promise. Once you've gotten it done, post back here and tell me if I'm right or wrong, ok? if you need any advice, pm me.

'Unreg for this, after reading this thread months ago, I finally got that little push to get something done. Had a *frenulumplasty* today :)

All went well, not the same as circumcision, but so far absolutly no pain, or problems peeing.
I have to bath 2 times a day for a week, and apply onipment to the area also twice daily. was in hospital for 8am, was Home by 2pm.

Delighted it's done and over with. Cant wait to "see it in action" when it does heal ;)'

have a read over the thread mate, it's all there.

peeing standing up takes a bit of getting used to, but it's nice to have a new skill to learn.

If I can give you a bit of advice - don't make the same mistake I made, and make it a bigger deal than it is. It's not a big deal - your doc won't raise an eyebrow.

'how much does the treatment cost anyway? Are we talking about 100, 500, 1000€€€ ?

thought it's like a cosmetical surgery and having a good head must be dear nowadays (ie. boob jobs)'

I got mine done privately and the whole thing cost me €2,800 (although I say "me", I mean "VHI").

Well, I can finally thank bejaysus I have a foreskin and didn't get this operation. Last night, I came home after studying all day in college. Five minutes later I was in a pool of my own blood on the ground. One of those hand held blenders had managed to be deflected by a friend, hit me in the crotch. It tore through my trousers and boxers and then um, me. The blade had time to hit me twice( in a fraction of a second). If I didn't have my foreskin I was told I eh, doubt I'd have a functioning penis.
Thankfully, I was able to get some stitches and stuff today before my exam(Bit high on the ole drugs during it though.).
Well, at least I know the thing is good for something now!
And, that, is what I call off topic. :P

jesus my doctor never warned me about that kind of thing - talk about unprofessional!!!!! :D

'I had it done when i was about 5 for various medial reasons, and I wasnt very happy with it for various reasons, the sex is great and the orgasm is explosive, but it took me a while to be able to feel anything really strong during intercourse because of the difference in masturbating a bit to rough i might have been :p , although this has changed a good bit now and it feels great most of the time, unless im stressed or w.e . Head is the real crowd pleaser in my opinion if your cut , its really really good most of the time :D , never quite to the point of ejaculation but that could be because of her inexperience in that aspect .

Also i was terrified when i had to tell my girlfriend the first time ,but she actually didnt mind and it seems to please her quite a bit when we go through with the act . Honestly most women wont care unless they are really narrowminded . And who wants to be with someone like that anyway :D.

Ild rather not have it done because i was so young at the time and I would have liked to not go through the stigma about how people react to it.(one time in school the guidence counceller said it wasnt very 'normal" in this country infront of a class, noone knew about me having it but it wasnt very confidence boosting at the time( i was 11-12))
But from what i remember i was in a pretty large amount of pain for a good while before hand and had to have quite a lot of creams etc applied. So save it for medical reasons and not for the porn look :P'

I also have a non-retractable foreskin. I've been considering circumcision but, when all is said and done, I'm unlikely to go through with it. Who else has decided to live things as they are?

I left things as they were, it not retracts fully at the height of arousal etc.
Maybe my accident above had an affect. :P

'Just thought I'd add my two cents to this.

I'm currently going out with an american girl - She basically had very little experience of being with a guy with a foreskin, being american and all. It's just not common there. After being with Irish girls my whole life, it was a novelty having to show a girl how to really use the foreskin. This led me to researching the whole foreskin\no foreskin debate. Both in doing a heap of reading (including this thread), and shall we say, practical research with her help.

Having had the unfortunate experience of ripping the banjo string when I was an excited young lad, I happen to have a fairly free moving foreskin, which makes me feel lucky.

Put it like this - Masturbation (solo or aided), without the foreskin being used (as in rolled back and held there), even with a load of lube\oil doesn't compare in the slightest to it with the foreskin being used as part of the process if you've got a fully functioning loose foreskin. I found this out through plenty of experimental work. The foreskin has a natural lubricant effect to it, and way of connecting with the head of the penis. It's meant to be there. Don't remove it. Just clean underneath the head.

The only time I've found a foreskin to be a hindrance was during anal sex where it can get caught on the rim of the anus, although plenty of oil, and being careful how you put it in before the first stroke.

I think if you have a foreskin, and even if you have issues with it, research the alternatives before you remove it, because it has a function in the scheme of things, and part of that function surely is pleasure. Only chop the foreskin if it absolutely has to go.

Where I would suggest people see a urologist as early as possible, and investigate the options is in any matter testicular. A lot of men, young and old suffer from issues *you don't even know you have*. Apart from testicular cancer of any description, there's a whole range of things to do with veins and structure down there. At the end of the day, fixing stuff down there can only lead to shooting more, healthier sperm out. Even if you're not worried about it for reproductive reasons, the more you come, the more you come.'

I've lived with it for about 20 years and at one stage, with the help of steroid creams managed to loosen it sufficiently to retract while erect, however overenthusiasm seems to have caused scar tissue to build up and it's returned to an even tighter state than it was.

So just recently, because the opening seems to be getting narrower, and it's getting harder to keep clean, I've had to 'give in' and make an appointment with a urologist.

    I'll keep you posted...

circumcision f&cking hurts. My wifes muslim - i have to get the snip before she'd marry me. Spent a month on my back with a fan cooling my gonads. I had to sleep with a bucket of ice beside my bed to plunge my hand into first thing in the morning to get the breakfast boner down - it would rip the stitches out. it hurts. Think carefully before doing it - theres no going back

Thanks for that cheery note Dave! I'm going in on Friday to some place in Churchtown (Landscape House?) never heard of it...I've no choice really as the 4skin has gradually tightened so that the opening is less than 1cm across. Not looking forward to it, local anaesthetic etc etc, so I'm going to get a happy pill from the GP first...

Get this from the doctor doing the operation, not your GP as you don't want to over do it.

Funnily enough the Urologist doesn't administer pre-meds - just the local anaesthetic. I haven't even spoken to the guy - just his receptionsit who said "it's a routine operation under local anaesthetic - you don't need anything else"

I pointed out that my dick was quite imoprtant to me and that I can't even watch ER without turning green. She said I should talk to my GP...

Not to contradict Dave or anything, but just to give you another point of view - when I'd mine done it wasn't nearly as sore as I thought. Sure it was uncomfortable, but in a "grit your teeth and get on with it" way rather than a "I can't take this anymore" way. It's only sore for about 10 days anyway, each day being better than the last. Think long-term dude :)

my advice for the op itself? Don't look down! I had a general an. so I can't really comment, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Fair enough, but whoever is doing the anaesthetic needs to have full control.
