    Car: '00 Fiesta zetec
    Size: 1.25
    Age: 23
    Policy: My own policy
    Cost: €1300 TPF&T
    With Company: Quinn Direct
    People insured: Just me
No Claims Bonus: 1 year named driving (it was actually 1 year and 9 months but the bastards only count that as 1 year), not yet a full year under my own name
Licence: Full Irish since February. I was 22 at the time of insuring the car, so hopefully it might drop a little bit when I reinsure in 2 months time.

I had 5 years no claims on motorbikes (Full bike licence for a few years too) before this but they count for utterly zero on a car policy. I'd like to upgrade to something a bit faster and sexier, but I'm gonna have to wait until I'm at least 25 for that kind of thing.

However, I may be looking to put my GF on the policy, she's 22 and on a provisional. From experience how much do ya'll reckon this will push the policy up?

It might even push it down a little, given that she's female - although on a 1.6 i'm not sure. If your car was a 1.0-1.4 I'd bet money on your premium dropping after adding a female named driver, even on a provisional.

€2,100 with St. Paul Travelers via Britton Insurance
    I'm 44.

I've had a full license in another (non-EU country) for 27 years and haven't had an accident in the last 26. I've also had a full Irish license for 5 years. None of that driving experience is recognised by insurance companies however and I could only find one company that would insure me on my car at any price. This is because, until this year, I haven't owned a car in Ireland. I have no NCB as yet although I'll have a one year NCB (touch wood) in April.

I'm 29 (for another month anyway).

    2005 Skoda Octavia vRS
Insurance is with the AA - €640 (fully comp)

I'm getting a Golf Plus 1.6FSI in February ( sick of **** breaking into my house to get the keys for the vRS) - when I checked with the AA my policy will go up by €10-15 when I get the Golf

    Paddy

PS It's my own policy, seven years claim free driving....

Junk, that is a disgrace, given your lack of claims and full clean(ish) licence - how much of a NCB have you got in your own name on your own policy?

I wonder if that is because the Golf Plus holds more? and is more inclined to have more passengers in it? A friend of mine had to get rid of his Zafira as it was a 7 seater (family) and the insurance premium was loaded as a result. Now has a Scenic.

Both the Golf Plus and the Octavia are 5 seaters - perhaps slightly more lightly to have a higher ocupancy rate, but the Octavia is 180 BHP where as the Golf Plus is only 115 BHP.......

Yes ciarsd it is a disgrace but the M5 is one of the most expensive cars to insure according to any broker I've asked for a quote. Full no claims bonus on my own policy. Yes it is a total ripoff but then most things are here anyway even with all the goings-on that it isn't. I can insure the Porsche in Spain fully comp. for 740 euros, admittedly I have a car insured there for a few years already.
