Just thought this might make an interesting topic. What car does everybody drive? What size model is it? Is it in their own name? Are they a driver on somebody's policy? Or is it their own policy? Have you got a full licence? Any no claims bonus? How much is your insurance? And where are you insured?

As for me, i dont have a car yet (just 2 motorbikes), but plan on buying a car soon so i just thought it would be interesting to see the answers to the questions above! :)

€1500 TPF&T with AXA (through Mike Murphy), although it looks as if this will drop below a G next year. However, I may be looking to put my GF on the policy, she's 22 and on a provisional. From experience how much do ya'll reckon this will push the policy up?

    My 99 Alfa 156 1.8 TS.
    I'm 24.
    Full Licence for 7 years.
    Driving for 7 1/2.
NCB = 1 year. (Long Story - B*astards Allianz) (Never Crashed)
Fully comp €2000 to come down to €1600 on renewal in Jan.

04 Audi A3 - 1.6petrol (3 door, as hatchbacks are supposed to be)
    I'm 32
Full Licence for 8 years. Driving for 12.
NCB = 12 years - an insurers dream. I reckon since I started driving I've paid around €20,000 in total for insurance and haven't even claimed for a windscreen in that time. And for some reason my insurance managed to go UP this year for the first time ever. €600 FBD Fully Comp.

    Own policy

Feb 2004:19yrs old, first time driver. 1l Micra, Quinn Direct, provisional, €3,600:eek:
Feb 2005: (1 yr NCB) renewal quote of €2,200, rang Hib, €1,900 if I pass provisional ignition, took it, failed (damn different car;))re-applied,took it 2 weeks later, passed, rang Hib, original quote had expired, new quote of €2,200:mad: Rang Tesco quote with provisional ignition, €1,430:D
June 2005: Passed test, fully licensed, no change with Tesco as because I passed provisional ignition, I was in the "fully licensed" insurance category.
July 2005: Passed Full Ignition, 20% reduction and I got about €216 cash back.
September 2005:Now drive a 1.1L Fiesta €40 extra insurance for the year.

Feb 2006 (2yr NCB, fingers crossed:))? Hopefully it will be about €800.

Total for 3 years insurance estimated to be €4,700.
Total for 5 years insurance estimated to be about €6,200.

Works out better than going as a named driver for say 2 years starting off?
