Longitude Line-Up

Just spotted the line-up for this years Longitude, and didn't recognize any of the acts. Is it aimed squarely at under 18 year olds? Like last year Mumford & Sons and Hozier were playing, this year seems like a kiddyfest. Boo-urns

We have a radio in work and an ad came on for Longitude and I (nearly 40) had never heard of any of the bands/groups/whatever announced. The 23 year old that works with me had also never heard of any of them. I thought they were young people acts and he thought they were old people acts.

I'm 27. Myself and the vast majority of my friends are very happy with that initial announcement. There's a lot of quality rap artists there, for one thing, and a few more solid acts like Sampha and Anderson Paak. Even Jacobs Banks is pretty good.

I'd have about 10 acts there already that I'd go see on their own.

I'm 41 and I know some of the acts...

Solange is Beyonce's sister.
Travis Scott did that song with Camila Cabello.
Saw Mabel on the music channels, same with Cardi B.

I’ve heard of all the headline acts and a lot of the other ones (I’m in my thirties). It’s generally more of a hip hop. / R&B “themed” festival. Last year two out of the three days were the same with Stormzy and the Weeknd headlining.

I've seen loads, but most "controversies" seem to have at least some kind of point to them, however stupid they may otherwise be. This has literally none.

It's After Hours: It's largely populated by a bunch of no-craic carmudgeons who hate people in any way different to themselves, especially the young.

I'm 20 and know all the acts bar a few of the smaller ones towards the end of the bill. It's probably not your age group and/or genre.

Surely nobody takes this garbage seriously? Are they some kind of parody act? They seem to be taking the piss out of somebody or some genre, but I can't figure out who or what.

They did the same with Oxegen. It started off as a band festival for indie/light rock and then over the years they professed to dance and rap music, thus lowering the tone and age of the clientele. Then people stopped going because of the tone of the clientele leading the failure of the festival.

Now wash, rinse, repeat. Some whizz at MCD is literally doing the exact same thing.
