I have heard of most of the acts playing it but have absolutely no interest in any of them. It will be very popular with younger people or fans of that kind of music though and will probably still sell out. I suppose it's unfair to say the lineup is rubbish as if you do like that genre of music it's probably a great lineup, but what bothers me about it is that most people who have gone to Longitude over the past few years have kind of been forgotten about. There is no variety in the lineup at all, in previous years you would get a nice mix of all types of music over the three days but they have completely ditched that approach now and seem to be solely catering for one group of people. I can definitely see why a lot of people are unhappy with it as if you've gone every year since it began you would probably have been expecting something that would interest you.

I'll be **** and crying that weekend.

The fact that I don't know who is playing the Longitude festival this year upsets me greatly. I have to ease the pain somehow.

Solange sounds like a brand name of orange juice sold in a discount supermarket.

Belly supported REM in Slane in 1995 so they probably aren’t aimed at today’s teenagers. I quite like Solange; she would be great outside on a summery day. Most of the other names I don’t know, but I don’t know too many current musicians.

im 22..only knew a few of them..Just cardi B and post malone as they had a few recent hits that I heard..My brother who's 18 is very excited about the lineup, he's big into hip hop and that stuff, so artists like tyler the creator I recognise the name of because of him always banging on about it, never heard any of his songs though

So yeh I think its mostly very young audience its aimed at!

I think it’s a line up for people who like a specific genre rather than young people. Unless I’m still young! (I’m definitely not!)

    Not the same Belly.

Deary me, that Solange song is sh1te. As is the one above by The Internet. Contrived, unoriginal crap.

    Very poor, one dimensional lineup.

Thankfully, it will hopefully mean none of this drek and its skanger fans will be at EP.

    that's some line up.
Didn't realise Blizards and The Coronascript were around that long.

Eagles of Death Metal as well. Well before what they became famous for unfortunately.

I'll be 45 in 2 days but I've heard of some of these acts, even if I'm not into them, although the last gig I went to in Dublin (last November) was hip-hop/rap stuff, just not like this. The good thing about going to a festival is for the variety of music styles, discovering a great band by accident, maybe something that you never would have heard, but the promoters for Longitude have messed up by narrowing the musical style this year.

I was just about to say that it was a different Belly. The Belly that supported REM in Slane also played at the Sunstroke festival in 1993. They'd be very out of place at this year's Longitude.

Never heard of any of them. But then I'm not the target audience. The last hippity hop I enjoyed was cypress hill.

Have any of the line-up had any chart songs/hits even. Clearly is focused on a niche market, which my brother spouted on about them have maybe one decent track each. But surely, a festival would have some mainliners that would be at least recognizable, that would interest all age groups of Hip-Hop.

Like I don't like Rap/HipHop, Rock/Metal music, but I would recognize artists and bands that were decent enough over the last 20 years, to be at least headlining or supporting at a festival.

As a previous poster said, Oxygen was brilliant 10 years ago, and last few years before it ended the festival went all EDM, and that why it ended, as it didn't provide for everyone.

I know most of them

    Solange is Beyonce's sister!
I'm considering going to this to see J.Cole, Tyler, Anderson .Paak Post Malone, Joey Badass, Migos and Travis.

I haven't heard but bits and bobs from 6lack, but he is supposed to be extremely talented.

I was definitely into music up until about 5 years ago, from oxegen to witnness I only missed 1 which was towards the end when it went ****e. But at least I knew who the acts were every year.

Now, I feel like my parents must have felt back in those halcyon days of the early 00s when I explained what gig I was going to.

Enjoy it kids, it won't last forever.

They both probably the biggest singles in the USA this year.
Cardi B as you say had Bodak Yellow. I've seen videos from clubs where it's played 3 or 4 times in a row and everyone says the words.
I've also seen a video on someone playing it in a subway station and it comes to a halt and everyone chimes in.

Post Malone had the song Rockstar which was a monster as well. Funnily enough, it was ghost-written by one of the other acts on the Longer line-up.

That Feile in '94 was my first festival also - feck it, great lineup obviously but festivals back then were so, so grim! You'd never expect good food at a music event back then (or probably anywhere outside of Dublin, Cork, Limerick or Galway in the entire country probably!), I remember there being one or two greasy burger and chips vans, free food in the Hare Krishna tent and maybe a Supermacs in the centre of Thurles.

Still go to some of the big European festivals and only recognised one of the names on the Longitude lineup unfortunately. Definitely not cool anymore :)

From that line up I "know" diplo - by know, I mean have heard of from being part of major lazer.
