Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why do you think this would be abolished permanently? Most people I know including those more heavily involved in GAA than me, believe the scheme is a good thing.

It was a nice oul run.

I have no idea,I would hope not.

My query was solely based on the tone of the preceding posts.

Because someone in some power will say it is costing this many thousands of tickets come All Ireland final that we can't give to clubs/sponsors etc.

Maybe we will get the vast majority of them going anyway at full price instead of €5 off. Perfect excuse not to bring it back with covid.

When really it is good way as every seat is tracked.

Watch as league attendances tumble. How else do they think the crowds stay as high as they do.

I know but some will think it will.

Don't buy this argument re all the monies the GAA will make on the couple of All Ireland final days from the corporate sector by the abolition of the season ticket scheme.

The revenue lost throughout the year by attendance reductions vis a vis the league and the championship would exceed any gains elsewhere.

Unquantifiable is the level of goodwill lost from a hard core support base.

All bets are off after Covid but I could see them having no choice but to re-open the season tickets just to have an instant income in 2022 or whenever.

This will be tricky with Mayo fans (I believe Parnell Passes are separate to the usual season tickets) but you'd hope ta **** that they'd give first dibs to those of whom were loyal for years with renewals.

It was said already that we would get renewed anyway based on the emails sent out.

I mean, be some kick in the face for Dubs and Mayo fans if it weren't.

It's guaranteed income when the GAA badly needs in.

Can't see it coming back this year with talk of some sort of normal by June with the season over in July.

I wonder will we hear anything about getting tickets for games when fans can return

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

I'd hope the ST peeps are considered alright.

    Would make sense.

At the moment though nobody has a season ticket. So unless they work off an old list but I'd doubt it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,535 ✭✭✭dobman88

Yeah, can't see them taking old ticket holders into account as much as I wish they do.

Like you said, it would make sense so that's why it probably wont happen given the shambles the organisation is.

    Corporate, county boards, players families
That will be the bulk of the 5000 gone

I think it was blindingly obvious what I was getting at.

    But cheers for your input.

    Glad tidings.

I emailed Croke Park re our season ticket.

    Here's the response.

    Hi

Currently, we are not sure if we will be able to proceed with the 2021 season ticket due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and, specifically, the uncertainty surrounding patrons attending sporting events. We will ensure that all Season Ticket holders are updated as soon as we know more.

Once Season Tickets are again available all 2020 Season Ticket holders will have the opportunity to renew.

Thank you for your continued patience.

    Regards

Very much so. Especially those of us in Mayo and Dublin.

up to 40,000 now for a final. I bet we still won’t get a call

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,529 ✭✭✭irishgeo

Sure we haven't paid for the season ticket, why bother for one game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,788 ✭✭✭Trampas

We haven’t but might have offered people a chance to purchase a ticket.

Managed to do it for other games

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,104 ✭✭✭rolling boh

Unlikely I think that any county ticket schemes will be resurected for one game county boards will give them to the clubs maybe a few on ticketmaster .

Was just thinking in general that there will be no things like parnell pass in dublin as well as season tickets used this year for one match .Gaa will be able to just allocate tickets to county boards for clubs they will use up the tickets handy enough .

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

Just got an email from the season ticket office saying that they will be unable to issue all ireland final tickets through season ticket accounts this year (unsurprisingly given that the season tickets are suspended).

They also said that it is intended to return to the full season ticket scheme for 2022 and that 2020 season ticket holders will be contacted and given the opportunity to renew for 2022 once more is known.

I love when companies use "Unable" when they mean "Unwilling" or "Unfortunately" when they mean "F**k Off"

And the people who have the Parnell pass and season ticket won’t see a ticket as some live outside the county and others wouldn’t be on the list looking for tickets regularly so end up ticketless

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 699 ✭✭✭gigantic09

Tickets for this years final should be exclusively issued to the counties involved . If they wont be issuing to season ticketers, neither should they go to other counties or corporate interests.

  • Registered Users Posts: 828 ✭✭✭pajoguy

Said the same on the Limerick thread considering the year thats in it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

We are in a position now that pretty much everyone who ever bought a season ticket did so to avoid....10 days out from an all ireland final desperately hoping that a ticket will show up from somewhere.

As mentioned above there are some of us who haven't lived in our home counties for years/decades so aren't members of clubs there. No access to tickets is being given to clublimerick (monthly draw) members either, not even to offer a raffle for a limited number.

While there is no objection to clubs being allocated the majority of tickets, it's a real pity that some consideration can't be given to season ticket holders, as far as I know you'd be talking about somewhere in the region of 3k of these per County. Last year's ticket cost 200 euro for which I was able to attend 5 league matches (cost of purchasing tickets for these would have been 15 euro per match) and was unable to attend any club championship matches due to restricted numbers.

Anyway we'll just have to wait and see what happens next week. I've heard that each county is supposedly being allocated 11000 tickets to distribute to clubs, but no idea how accurate this is.

I got an email from Cork County Board saying they will offer 2020 season ticket holders the option to buy a ticket.

  • Registered Users Posts: 36 Eoin3

Did they give a date when that would happen? Is it a link to a site?

From Limerick so hoping they do similar!

The email I got said that Croke Park weren't going to be doing anything for season ticket holders so Cork County Board are going to look after Cork ticket holders which is a great gesture. No idea if Limerick are doing the same.

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

Bloody hell. Fair play to cork County board....come on Limerick, please follow suit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,078 ✭✭✭lukin

Yeah it's nothing to do with Croke Park, the email came from the Cork GAA administrator . I am A Cork Hurling Season ticket holder, I got the mail as well and filled in the form on the link. I am skeptical about the whole thing though, I won't believe it until I have the tickets in my hand ( I have two season tickets in my name).

I don't see how the Cork County Board can use up all those tickets just like that especially with a 50 percent capacity. There must be a lot of Cork season ticket holders in hurling. I also can't see how they can do it independently of Croke Park. The link to the GAA season ticket dashboard is dead so how are we supposed to pay for it ? It all sounds a bit too good to be true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,166 ✭✭✭zetecescort

did you pay for the season ticket in 2020 and not get to use it due to restrictions? maybe that would cover the cost of the final ticket?

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

I'd say the county board will add your names to the list of club members that will be given links to purchase tickets from ticketmaster next week. I'd say ye are getting them alright.

Let's all with email them? Limerick County Board said season ticket holders should contact Croke Park. While Croke Park said that county board would be distributing. A complete fob off from all sides

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

Do. I've emailed tonight asking if they will be following suit or if Cork season ticket holders are being treated differently. Was onto Jerome o connell from the leader also who will make some calls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,555 ✭✭✭Same As

Fair dues to Cork County Board for this gesture. Hopefully other county boards will follow their lead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,078 ✭✭✭lukin

Yeah I paid for the 2020 season ticket but then when Covid happened season tickets were cancelled and I got a refund of €100 because some of the games I paid for did not go ahead. That was what happened for every season ticket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Fingers crossed they do. That would be unreal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 113 ✭✭starlady1

What email did you use? I want to email them too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

I emailed John Cregan and Mike o'riordan at:

    chairperson.limerick@gaa.ie and secretary.limerick@gaa.ie

No response from either. I also emailed the club limerick coordinator who responded saying that all tickets are being allocated to clubs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

I see an article from Jerome in the leader tonight suggesting that only 10 year ticket holders from cork might have got that offer, but our cork friends posting here have said that all season ticket holders got the email.

  • Registered Users Posts: 113 ✭✭starlady1

Thanks for all the information, I am going to email them too. Surely they will have to do something if Cork County Board are to offer tickets to Season Ticket Holders.

  • Registered Users Posts: 533 ✭✭✭C4000

Do, no harm to let them know what you think about it. The way things are, you have more chance getting a ticket if you are member of a club in Tyrone or donegal than if you are a Limerick season ticket holder or clublimerick member
