Was up the reeks in Kerry this afternoon - there was probably a few centimetres around the top of the devil's ladder. There have been some very heavy rain showers in Killarney since dark so there could be a decent amount of snow on the hills for tomorrow.

Snowing in Durrow, finally! 0.9c and dewpoint of 0.2c. East wind, pulling in the cold from the snowfields over west Kildare and east Laois!

this week was beginning to look better but today's deluge is certainly edging us back into flood territory once again. The ditches around my area were still full of water this morning from last weeks downpours, i'd say our road is possibly flooded yet again.

Countless hail and rain / sleet showers today in Tralee giving 15.0mm and heavy enough atm. Blustery, getting up to 66 km/h, no fear of anything settling here with temps at 5.6C

So glad so many of you saw snow, knowing how much it means to you!

Dry out here. Does not feel quite as cold but I think that that is that I am getting acclimatised ; the first cold day after mild weeks was a shock !

Good covering of snow in Monasterevin.

Upside - Dogs loving rolling around in it, their first time to see snow.

Downside - Dogs need a bath.

Roads and grass fully covered around Mountmellick and Emo. Roundabouts already lethal even with brand new 3 peaks tyres.
Will be plenty of accidents with the way most motorists maintain their cars.
Stopped snowing here now but lawns completely covered and driveway too until driven on.

Reminds me of when I lived in Orkney where it snows every year, watching my hens emerge into deep snow and looking down in horror when their feet went missing.. :eek:

rain stopped here now but driveway covered in water again, will have to dig another shore to release more water tomorrow. With all the rain over the past 2 months, it doesn't take much for the place to flood again.

It was yes. About at hour ago it was 1c at Naas and 4c at Kill Village. Maybe 3 or 4km between the two.

Done the reverse of this journey between say 8.15pm and 9.30pm. Very interesting drive regarding weather:
Tallaght to Naas North was 5c to 4c all the way then around the Naas bypass it dropped to 2c by Naas south. Towards Newbridge it got quite foggy and going onto the Curragh temperatures dropped to 1c.

Around Kildare village exit the first settled snow appeared and from J14 Monasterevin to past Portlaoise there is a thick covering - peaking around 2in or 3in (estimated) around J16 Portlaoise north - a winter wonderland with trees covered too! Exiting J17 - old Cork Rd exit and after around 4 miles down the road there the lying snow dissipated.

Abbeyleix and Durrow have no lying snow - just some on parked cars and the odd roof. The temperature on the car remained at 1c all the way from the Curragh. Currently 1.1c here, light fog and looking at the radar we still might get a chance of further light snow.

The blob of cold across the midlands and south-east has been slowly moving south-westwards, much milder north and east of this blob. Still 7C here at Dunshaughlin with rain powering down.

Lashing rain in cork city still. Heavy showers all day. Januarysnowstor is right about flooding, this mornings showers left a lot of big puddles everywhere that wasn’t draining due to blocked drained with leaves and little to no evaporation.

rain finally stopped here, feeling milder then any point today, temperature almost 8C. Parts of Dublin at 9C, mildest part of Ireland right now.
