42.50 euro for a strip for a 2 year old! didnt ask for the adult one but let you know when i get the wee one. we can buy it from thursday

Its roughly the same for a Leitrim gaa jersey. (;)) Best get them big so theres plenty of growing room. They look seriously cute in them anyway. Think I am going to invest in a rovers one too! Thankfully at that age they are too young to question whether they are last seasons strip or whatever. It has been a racket in the English premiership for sure, Sueme. I would hope that Sligo Rovers would be a bit more grass roots. Where they a Co-operative in the past or something...?

Hey Tulipandthistle I am sure we could get a crowd for any Scotland/Holland matches... watching ye! :D

At the prices been flagged you would want to be getting the most out of those jerseys alright. (so the season ticket might be in order). Then you would have to give the jersey an outing to the away games. (with your friends on the bus) Suppose said jersey could also double up as a night shirt. Then it can be recycled into dusters the next season or on a pub wall with signatures on it....

So tulipandthistle whats the order of play then. Is it Mooneys before the match, at half time, and then after the match? *;)

*not during unless Rovers really getting slaughtered.:(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,469 ✭✭✭guinnessdrinker

Me and one of my friends used to always go to Mooneys before the home matches which resulted in us never seeing a kick off as we always arrived in a few minutes late. Anyway I drive in now so I can't have a drink before the games.

The one and only Rovers game I went to*, we went to Mooneys for a drink beforehand, the craic was good so himself (at the time) went to the match and I stayed in the pub :D.

*You could probably get me on a technicality there..

Suppose could have been worse, you could have went in and commented on their legs or shouted for the opposition! :D You kept a space in the bar, a useful role and has its advantages after the match. ;)

Mr Xiney and I will be there! Who are they playing again? I'm not much of a football fan.

Fleece blanket and two travel mugs of hot tea ought to get us through though, bet it's going to be ridiculously cold.

I'll be looking for the Xiney's cuddled up under the fleece, see if we could borrow a corner of the blanket ;) Playing Drogheda United, just checked the website.

Tuppence, afraid it won't be a late one, we'll have the wee man with us.

Really looking forward to going to the Showgrounds tomorrow night. I was just thinking though, maybe we should get a Sligo Rovers Boards.ie supporters flag made up!

Get the new Jerseys, and get "OFF TOPIC" printed on the back. Instead of shouting at the ref, the lot of you just turn your backs to him. :D

those shirts may have came in handy tonight, thought we might have taken it at the end, could be slighter tougher against bohs next saturday

    :)

lol i wish i'm a lowly student!! ya jerseys are very expensive for a shirt like, but thats the way it is unfortunately...you'd pay the same for a man.united or liverpool shirt.the sligo rovers scarves are class,i still have one my unlce gave me from the 80's:D

good enough game tonight, pitch is in bad shape somethign should really be done!all in all a good result, drogs are the champions of last year and now we look forward to bohs on good friday!

Indeed, great result. Good crowd, probly 2200-2300, and good atmosphere with plenty of colour.

We had a great time yet again!

I only have one question.... why don't the players follow through? Some kicked the ball towards the goal and they just left it. At one point in the first half the goalie dropped it and nobody was there to take the opportunity to score. The last 20 minutes were the most exciting though!

I was looking for the fleece blanket Xiney....

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,130 ✭✭✭tuppence

It was great fun. They got better as they went on.We were over near the drums! And then of course saw (maybe a little too much of :D )the famous Mooneys! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 974 ✭✭✭redarmyblues

Conditions were bad, the wind especially made it difficult for attracive football.
We did improve markedly in the last half hour, the introduction of Matthew Judge livened things up in our attack. Shamie Coleman gets better every time I see him, man of the match for me.

That's a fact. He was terrible, wouldn't let the game flow in any way.

I thought considering Drogs are defending league champs that Rovers showed they are not too far off the standard required to do well in the league this year.

Great crowd too. I thought Rovers played very well in the second half and I thought they might have snuck a goal, it's a pity they didn't, the Showgrounds would have went mental!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 421 ✭✭Rossibaby

ya would have been nice to get a goal for the crowd but hopefully we played good enough to get a crowd back for the bohs game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

good highlights package on rte this evening as well, spotted my self in the crowd too

    :D

cookie seams very confident about the season, as did the panal, especially on future home games, reakons will be hard to beat them at the show grounds, hopefully will perform well away as well,

shame through there will be no mooneys before or after the game this week

    :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 320 ✭✭tulipandthistle

To be quite honest the only thing that's keeping me from bringing the whole bed clothes after last week is the fact that then I'd probably be so comfortable I'd probably fall asleep and I'd feel bad, then.

i will have the layers, the hat, and the gloves tonight, a football jersey and a jacket were just not sufficent last week

    :pac:

i just thought it was in refernce to paul cook, heard him being refered to as cookie on monday night soccer on rte

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 421 ✭✭Rossibaby

yup it's for cookie alright...they updated the music before games as it was terrible...when i was younger i'd go in 40 mins before kick off and sit in the stand and watch the lads warm up...they played the set of music once or twice testing it....terrible old stuff that included the theme tune to an english football show...great to see this rectified and more effort being put in in the PR department

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,469 ✭✭✭guinnessdrinker

Yeah, the music used to be terrible. I remember being at one match in the Showgies and we were sitting in the stand before the match talking about how bad the music was and they put on Silent Night by accident. The main problem about that was it was in April!
