Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Legend, can't think of another radio show (other than maybe Ed's Songs of Praise on a Sunday night) where I'd hear that song. Just one of the many reasons that I purposely tune-in to Johns show!

Been listening to the last fifteen minutes and the one link I've heard it was informative and the music is relaxing and good. To quote sir jimmy of McGee John creedon is "different class"

A double helping of Beck and now U2. Where else on Irish radio would you get that type of variety ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,347 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

So a double of beck, and a double of U2 and finishing with Booker T and the M.G's.

Philo would have been 70 today. :(

Is that him at the beginning of ‘Old Town’ who says ‘Ah, the ole Covent Garden...I knew it well.’?

So far, two from Ian Dury and two from The High Llamas.

    Sterling work, good sir. :)

Just as I commented on the Lyric fm thread that I thought John's shows were getting a little repetitive, he comes out with an absolute belter last night!! It was a cracker start to finish, faith restored (until I hear the war on drugs, AGAIN)

Can NOT believe someone texted in to complain about Planxty's version of Arthur McBride!

Did anyone catch the names of the blues artists there now? I missed the intro and outro.

‘Tore Up’ by Otis Rush, then ‘Bogalusa Boogie Man’ by the wonderfully named Clarence Gatemouth Brown.

With a name and song title like that, you know he be all about de blues :D

Celebrate. This party's over. I'm going home.

Last track on my the funeral playlist.

Currently trying to build up a new musical library after having migrated from Spotify to YouTube music... This thread is fantastic for ideas via John Creedon.

Just looked up Ramblin Jack Elliott on Wiki after JC played him. Can't believe he's still alive, he always seemed like a man of a bygone era, even when I was a kid.

After watching that, I ended up binging on Steve Goodman and John Prine.

    G'night y'awll.

Who's in the box from (tomorrow?) night onwards? I'd have thought JC isn't off on holiday until the weekend, but I'm sure he said he was off after Thursday.

I like Fiachna but I reckon Lillian Smith would be another good choice at that time of the evening.

Very mellow when you've been listening to Olde Etonians barking at one another on the radio all day.

I had been at the sherry last night when I wrote that.

In fairness, the Estonians would put that country right in jig-time. A British perestroika wouldn't go amiss.

John just said Fiachna will be sitting in next week, but as you say, Lilian is very good (she has covered for Creedo before IIRC).

Good perhaps but you wouldn't catch either of them starting off a show with Love Shack and two Dylan classics.
