I kid ye not, if you hear on the news overnight that a river in North County Dublin burst it banks, that river was my ball sack and the bank that burst was my VAS DEFERENS DUMPING OCEANS OF TROUSER CUSTARD IN TO THE LIFFEY!

    These sticks are without a doubt the best I've ever used. They. Are. S T U N N I N G!

However, bad news Greek Mother, I started making a video and the battery died on my DSLR, the battery in my Zi8 was also dead so I was done for. At which point I just went ahead and fit the lot in.

I will do a comparison in future though, promise!

Here's the CP looking sexually explicit. Fully kitted out, looks like a brand new CP... that's because it is, even the CP plate. :D

will they cut it to size in there?

Keith dont know if they cut to size for perspex but with mine I ran side of chisel few dozen times,
And placed wood either side and simply whacked off unwanted piece with mallet and it came away clean, no need for cutting anything, but then mine was simple rectangle so made it easy out.
Drilling holes for your led buttons was the hard part :)

Cheers dude. My 58-01s arrived this morning surprisingly enough. Thing is, the throw feels identical to some spare 32-01s I have, when I look at the PCB I can see it says LS-3 but the rest is hidden under a part that sits on top of it. I'm guessing the PCB might be common among some of the LS range and probably doesn't impact the feel of the stick but just curious what your PCB reads. Supposedly the 58-01 uses the same base as your 56-01 but with a softer spring. But the throw feels no different to a 32-01. Will try and install one later and see does it feel different when mounted (... :pac:).
PCB will say LS-33, which is funny because LS-33-01 has been out of production for ages now.
I have a PCB that says LS-56 though, it came in my Konami Hyper Stick. Hope I remembered to buy the new switches for it.

cba buying LS-58 yet; LS-56 does me fine.

    Hey Pyongy,
Are the original astro controls green and pink or green and violet?

    arcadelb35sancolors.jpg

It looks pink in your pic but sometimes violet looks pink if the light is a certain way.

    .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,731 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Pretty sure it's pink; that's what the panels on Akishop come with.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Yep they are pink. Violet was for Egret cabinets I thought?

I've got the entire CP populated with Seimitsu parts, even the 1P/2P buttons. :D

The difference even in the buttons is noticeable. For me anyway, it feels a lot tighter. The Sanwa buttons (both on my old CP and console sticks that have them) have a looser feel that when pressed don't really feel as responsive.

A button is a button I guess but as a personal choice I can really notice the difference and it's me using them so.... :)

The sticks though are divine. The short throw is to die for. Playing Night Raid last night took a bit of getting used to as I was used to having to over-correct my movements with the LS-32's. With these LS-56 sticks the movement is so precise you automatically try to over correct. It'll take some getting used to but I think they are amazing, definitely my favourite stick that will probably only be equalled or bested by a Suzo 500 and/or Virtstick.

    I love Seimitsu! :o

Excellent job on the new CP Pyong, it looks top notch! I do like the overall look and shape of the Astro panels. :)

I installed one of the 58-01s yesterday and gave it a few mins go, yeah I think it actually does have a shorter throw than the 32 but not by a huge amount. Or maybe I'm not as finely tuned to these things as yourself, or maybe it was because the 32s were brand new also, not sure. Anyway the new stick is in so staying put for the time being, needs some testing on 360 shmups I think. :)

Right, that's the Rodotron 666A chassis back in the candy and all is working well again.
I even managed to tweak a few pots and get a sharper picture and even better geometry out of it and as always the colours are amazing on it.

I think I'll see about getting an original chassis at a later stage, perhaps one that's had a cap kit done on it and is proven working well.

Any of you lads know where I can get an all in one unit Supergun? I have one of those Vogatek ones, but to be honest it's just too ugly. And I'm sick of the whole external PSU thing.

All the ones I've seen on ebay seem to cost a fortune. (like this -)

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARCADE-SUPERGUN-JAMMA-PCB-CONSOLIZED-NEO-GEO-MVS-ATOMISWAVE-ST-V-CPS2-NAOMI-PGM-/150674948282?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2314ed40ba

Is there a nice cheaper (maybe €100 or thereabouts) option out there? Something with Neo Geo ports would be ideal. I can't seem to feckin find anything!

I've also found this, but it's one of these weird French ebay auctions where you cant buy the item straight up and I've no idea how to purchase them! (they also seem a tad dodgy)

Just for anyone who has a jtag in their cab, FSD 2.2 intro'd a nice little plugin which allows you to stream your game to the cab, rather then using a usb hdd. Compatability might need checking but it works well

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,476 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

That looks pretty nifty thanks. On a semi related note - is there anything specific you need to do to plug a usb drive into a jtag (FSD 2.1 I think)? Does it need to be formatted via the 360 settings or anything like that do you know? I know FTP works a treat but I'm just curious about the usb route.

Not entirely sure, as the hdd I use is the 1TB one that's inside the case so it uses the arbitrary file system. I presume it's formatted in FAT32, you know, so you can put 'stuff' on it from within a Windows environment.

Think I might have found somthing Epic.

One of my friends just told me theres a 2 player point blank machine sitting in a corridor in the college down the road from me. One someone there said its been there for months, just going to be thrown out they thought

Looks like its time for Mr. Burton to pay a visit to whoever is in charge of this!

    Very interesting.
I've seen something similar done with perspex. But I think I'd rather use MDF like in your pics as the OCD in me would want to protect the perspex from scractes and marks whereas with wood you don't really have that issue.

Beats stacking them on a chair as I have been.I must say Jamma boards seem to be resilent as f**k.

Anyone know anywhere where you can purchase nice mounting boards for jamma and cps2 boards. Something that doesn't involve screws for easy changing? Yet to come across anything

I have to disagree. It's great in principle, but day to day it'd get on your jabs.

I keep the precious few PCB's I own in pink bubble wrap for now, but I'll house them in 'pizza boxes' soon enough. Label them up on the spine and chuck a mini marquee on the lid. Job done.

That said, when I hopefully get Batrider this year, I'll sit that on a velvet cushion, fan it with palm leaves and bathe it in goat milk every day. :o

Spotted them on AO too, handy if you have the additional space needed to store them - presume you'd put them into a cupboard to keep the dust off them (unless you have tons of cabs). I just store mine in bubble wrap and inside the boxes they came in.

Does anyone know what the name of those metal feet things are in the pics above? Or where to get them? I spotted someone else use them to connect two pad hack pcbs together and thought it would be handy to do.

Would normal PCB feet not do ya no? Those metal ones do look nicer though, I have to say...

I'd love to do that with my PCBs. Unfortunately space is currently an issue for me too..so I also just keep them all bubble wrapped in the box they were delivered in.

Heh I probably wasn't clear. I have PCB feet for connecting PCBs to MDF but I was thinking of connecting two 360 pad PCBs together so normal PCB feet wouldn't work. I was thinking of putting them in a box of some sort, see ondafly's youtube vid here of the black box he has. Those taller steel feet/leg things above would to the trick though. If I could find the pic of the pad hacks connected together it would explain it better. :)

Awesome black looks well cool, thats 2 nice black ones on boards now :)

I got EMS Topgun III Installed in my Upright this weekend,
took 30 mins to setup and only 33e.

Great fun and I read AimTraks are better but recoil and wireless on it work a treat... Loving it... My mame cab can handle most games but TimeCrisis And Carnevil and running pretty slow on it.

    One of these ?
    http://www.arcadeshop.de/Audio-Video-Scanline-Generator-SLG3000-v2_1078.html

Most emulators have the ability to add scanlines as well, you could try this and spare a few quid.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,390 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

yep thats the one i was looking for. I have the scanlines going with the emulators at the minute alright, I have the pc setup not to show anything "windows" related and go straight into hyperspin, I have a jukebox setup on it too and when that launches it has no scanlines.

Im thinking of getting this to save hassle with fake scanlines and to put scanlines over everything from boot up. Im in two minds over getting it though to be honest.

I wonder is the scanline effect with this thing, better than the scanline effect that the emulators simulate.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

In a word, yes. The SLG is hot tweakable so you can alter the scanlines to your exact needs.

It mentions on the page there that it works at 640x or 800x if i was to set the resolution of the pc to 800x do you set it on this thing with a switch or something?

I'm a happy bunny with the G-Net in full effect.
G-Darius is as cool as I remember, and as hard!
Super Puzzle Bobble is interesting as I thought I had seen and played every version in the series, not sure if it will warrant a CF card all of it's own though!

I have noticed the top of the display is missing.
Is this something I can correct with adjustments to the display pots on the Supergun?
I don't want to experiment and bugger it up!

Also, what would you recommend as my next Jamma buy?
I now have a mod bios G-Net and a mod bios MVS board.
Are there any other similar multigame Jamma solutions that are not manky PC on a board efforts??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Congratulations! It's a great bit of kit isn't it? Maybe adjust the pots on your supergun or the CRT settings? Mine displays fine on my Astro. Give Night Raid a blast, it's fantastic!

    Too right! :D

Ciderman - I don't think there are any other multi games solutions other than buying dodgy multi PCBs.

The only other cart systems I can think of off the top of my head are PGM, STV, Sega Mega tech, Jaleco Mega 32 and Atomiswave.

None of which, to my own knowledge, have anything like MVS multi carts.

Maybe there's something else out there which uses compact flash like your G-Net. I haven't heard of anything though.

How about just collecting some bog standard PCBs? They're a thing of beauty :)

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,476 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

And apparently Atomiswave carts are very prone to bootlegs, think Pyonyang said the same about the STV system. If you can't get a cab into your house then get some PCBs as o1s1n says, there's something cool about them for sure and playing them on that big Trinitron of yours would be awesome.

Quick tip for people who are having problems mounting stuff like consoles and hacked pads inside their cabs.
Get some sugru and use that to stick them anywhere(even the sides or back of the cab can be used, especially for the smaller stuff like the hacked pads or smaller consoles like the DC).

The sugru can be worked like bluetac but cures to a rubber/silicone material and it sticks to nearly anything and is heat resistant so it wont fall to pieces if it gets hot in there.

It's also fairly easy to remove in the future if you need to but might leave a little stain on some materials so maybe get it in the colour that best matches what it will be sticking to.

I also used some to stop the sub woofer inside the cab from vibrating when the sound gets really loud.
