That or the latest lockdown really has affected us more than we think ;)

Another plus 100 post day yesterday, some going considering how quite it was earlier in the day.

Ye guys are getting me through this miserable January! :)

Reckon the songs tournament is generating a fair amount. Great idea for a miserable early/mod January.

Yeah, that songs thread is a good way to keep everyone interested and interacting. :)

The funny thing is I find the christmas forum more important to me in January than I do in December. Pre christmas the build up normally ticks all the boxes for the things you need as its all excitement & buzz for the coming season, but afterwards when the lights & decorations are gone & the weather is dark & dreary I appreciate the interraction in here more (if that makes sense) Its a place of solace for those of us that love christmas and are as far away from the next one as can be.

This year, WFH with no holidays to look forward to & no socialising to lift the mood, this place is a godsend.

I had thought that everything would be okay by 2021, but the idea now that I might not get a holiday either this year is making me sad.

Its utterly depressing. Our family summer holiday abroad was such a focal point for us that knowing in reality we'll not have one again this year makes it look like a long year ahead with little in terms of genuine highlights on the horizon.

I think we are going to book the ferry to France for as late in August as we can. Irish Ferries are offer free change of dates of cancellations so worst case we move to the year after or cancel.

We are probably being optimistic however need something to look forward to.

We weren't too far off the 100, but it's completely my employers fault we didn't make it, I was so busy I didn't get a chance to get near here yesterday really. :P

On a plus note we are now in the busiest January this forum has ever had and we're only at the half way point :)

I too was up to my eyes yesterday so didn't get to post much and when I had finished work had a stint on the turbotrainer to burn off some calories which left me too tired to really engage last night either.
Still 100 posts a day (workdaus anyway) going forward may be a bit unrealistic. Unless of course the mods have more ideas to keep us all engaged ;)

Me three, I haven't been engaged as much as normal and will most likely be the same for the rest of the month with the kids being at home all the time.

Am also trying to get back into reading so trying to fit that is as well.

Will most likely look to pop in a couple of times a day and catch up. Feeling like I am missing out when not around as much :(

I had a meeting last Monday with a colleague. We were in a boardroom for a meeting so I was 5+m away. On Thursday this guy informed HR that he was not well all week, took a test on Thursday and was positive. He then identified me as a close contact, a person within 2m of him for more than 15 mins.

I am raging, I have my elderly folks over and have had to get a negative test but isolated the whole weekend (Fri Sat) until I got my result. My folks are only here for 2 weekends. Coming in to work for 4 days whilst sick, this idiot is a Director. Also identifying me a being within 2m's, grhhh.

Anyway, great numbers and I will try to add to them as I am wfh this week.

Not the first time I've heard of this kind of thing, one idiot had symptoms, went and got tested and whilst waiting for the result went in to work, what happened? You guessed it, positive and identified 7 close contacts who all had to isolate for 14 days... office had to close as 2 of the 7 got positive tests and identified 9 more contacts in work between them. Office currently closed completely and clients far from impressed. My mate reckons they'll 100% lose jobs from this, all from 1 idiot who didn't think.

DvB it is very sloppy and that's an understatement. Especially as jobs may be on the line. I was to meet a prospective client today who could keep three people gainfully employed for the next 8 months, that got binned.

I have an 'office' on our landing as its quite large but as I type this the two year old is having a nap in a room off the landing and I have a conference call in 40 mins. I despise working from home and do not usually have to, only for the langer in the office.

Part of my hate of working from home is I had a hearty breakfast, then left over Chinese for lunch which was the plan but I also have access to rubbish. I have eaten half a pack of chocolate biscuits 'Petit al cioccolata' to be exact, and not I'm not embellishing, half a full pack.

I'm lucky in my WFH situation as both ours are 10 next week so dont need too much looking after and have plenty of schoolwork to keep them occupied, ne having my own office helps as they know if they hear me or anyone else talking notbto come in.

With you on the snacking bit though. When I'm in.my office all I have to eat is what I bring with me so can't be tempted to snack, but at home, all too easy.

Its hearing stuff like that going on that convinced our MD that WFH for everyone was a far safer option. If anyone does need to call in to the office 24hrs notice is required to ensure theres no crossover, or at least its limited to 1 per floor or suchlike. We also need to sign forms saying we've not been close contacts or been tested etc. so is suspect there's a legal implication if you willingly falsify that.

I guess unless there is a specific bit about not going to the office while waiting for a result there is probably not a lot the company can do. Common sense should have prevailed however I guess not all of us think the same way!

I should point out its not my firm this has happened to, it was a former colleagues office. 95% of our staff are WFH full time. Senior management had been going in 2 or 3 days PW up until Christmas but there's only 1 or 2 in since the new year at any 1 time. I'll not be going in until we leave level 5 restrictions anyway.

I think people really needed the cheering up. Certainly worked for me while I finally got on mid afternoon.

I find the chocolate buttons I am smashing at the moment keep the mood up. Well needed as the usual cute whoredness/endemic nepotism of Ireland raises it head in relation to vaccinations.

Thank you Jude, you've just reminded me I've a stash of Minstrels, hidden somewhere. I need them.
