    Still dry Castlebar also

Raining here on the hills in Kilkenny but temperature is falling with it, 4.1C now, won't snow here but the temperature is falling.
It is a steady fall, from 5.6C a couple of hours ago.

I don't see any snow falling here in Meath tonight, much too mild. At a wild guess Monaghan to Castlebar and northwards may get some temporary snow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,486 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

Yes it's promising for further north. Must remember though it will only be temporary.

Radar is giving false reading showing rain over parts of Connacht which where there is no rain falling at all. Main bulk of the rainfall is coming in from the west now and it will be around and after midnight before we see any precipitation possibly turning to sleet and snow.

a real pity yesterday evenings Hirlam didn't play out, would have been an interesting night of snow watch with several hours of heavy snow across a far larger area! Hopefully better luck from Tuesday onwards!

Dew points have crept up over the last hour in Claremorris, Belmullet and Knock.

Very heavy rain in South Galway, but it’s very mild and incredibly calm after the last few weeks of wind.
Like the midlands, we could be hit bad with flooding again as the land is completely saturated.

Yep temp has risen from 2.2c earlier upto 3.1c with very light rain falling now

I think at this stage even north Leinster and the midlands will be rain. Dew points are far too high almost everywhere except for parts of Northern Ireland.

    pointrosee_uk.png

temperatures also too high, 4 to 8C across most of the country, with milder air moving in. Inland areas of Ulster might still do it.

Steady rain now. Maybe it will only be Ulster that sees snow out of this.

Yes it look like the milder air got in quicker as per usual. We really need notable embedded cold to be colliding with these fronts to deliver snow widely across Ireland.

Thankfully no terrible conditions (apart from surface water of course) for early morning commuters.

rain has arrived here now and starting to get heavier.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,730 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Temperature went to 4.0C at 10.22pm, now it has risen to 4.3C so maybe in Kilkenny the temperatures will just rise from here on out.

even Ulster may struggle. Coastal parts most likely rain. Inland areas of NI and high ground in Donegal may still get it. Scotland seems to be the place to be for this one.

Scotland nearly always is. Maybe we will have a better chance on Tuesday night.

Temperature has been slowly but steadily dropping from a high of 7,7ºC this afternoon to 2,1ºC now near Westport and the rain is beginning to turn to sleet. Barometer falling rapidly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 529 ✭✭✭Goldfinch8

I have been keeping an eye on nra weather stations in this part of the west (unfortunately Westport and Ballina not reporting) but at stations in Knock and Charlestown there has been a decrease in air temp over the past hour and I see that Knock airport is registering 2c in the 11pm Met Éireann reports. With mild air filtering in, it could of course change very quickly as some other posters are observing in their localities but will still keep a watchful (hopeful) eye for another hour or two.
Edit: A few sleety flakes now showing up in moderate to heavy precipitation here just east of Castlebar.

What a bummer. The last few potential snow treads have amounted to nothing.
I think it’s not for us this years guys.

    3.1c in Sligo and rain

If it does snow it will be around 2 to 5 am time. At 7am its predicted to be 7c and 9c at 9am so not really worth losing sleep for.
