Sean Kelly 100km Cycle has now been added to my achievements! Surreal Experience.

I suppose the main point I admired was that although it is an individual sport, you are never on you own. The team-work, positivity, support and enthusiasm is what really grabbed my attention today. Even during those tough times, their were people passing with words of encouragement and then more who cycled at my pace for a time until I re-found my mojo. Fantastic! No bitching, no back-stabbing, everyone was there to support each other, whether they knew you or not! Great team sport I must say :) I don't remember when last I prayed so much as I did in parts today (I know my nan would have been proud :o)

    - A big shout out to the boardsies I started with, great meeting you guys! I see you've posted in the '2012 Sean Kelly thread' - you done remarkably well guys!
    - Their was one hill that got the better of me and I didn’t know how close I was to the top when I hopped off and walked the remainder – but to the two ladies from Cork & Kilkenny who I met walking up – we will complete it next year! I am adamant that climb will NOT defeat me next year.
    - Huge shout-out to Eoin, my dub, you’re a dote, a pure gent! Met you today, pure random conversation but we’ll meet again I am sure. That’s the thing about these events and we both know what we’re looking at from here so…

To the comics who painted the smiley on the climb along with “The fun is only beginning” – Jeez lads I’d say you were laughing by the end alright! That climb is the one that got me, and I was so damn close to the top too but didn’t know it. In saying that though, tbh, if my fitness was up to it then I would have kept going, but it wasn’t. So thanks for the smile lads, it made me laugh anyways as it got me!

The organisers, support, volunteers, everyone involved today – Sincere Thank You. Remarkable day out that I will repeat next year for sure.

From the moment I arrived to see the 160km participants all lined up ready and rairing to go, the sheer volume of people along with the tension and excitement in the air is something that I won’t forget. Surreal.

Fantastic Days cycling for me and I was proud of myself too. To see my levels of fitness improve; to have two memorable cycling achievements now under my belt and great memories to co-incide. I am delighted that I have commenced my journey to the mark the ROK 2013 off my bucket-list. It is do-able, not far from my reach now which I realise after todays cycle. Delighted to have cycled the 100km Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford in just over 4 1/2hrs.

I need to put some thought into my next challenge after speaking to people en route today and they adding their own personal insights with the cycling they have done to date.

Thanks again to everyone though, both involved with the Sean Kelly tour of Waterford and everyone who has supported me on my cycle today and to date :)

Well done, you did great time! Was wondering when you would fly off on me :P That hill got the better of me too, if you had any idea of when the top was it might have helped but around each bend it just seemed to get higher and longer :(

    Well done :D

Ah jeez girl. When that group of 7lads came up alongside chatting to me, their pace was matching what I was used to travelling at. Next thing I knew

I stopped at the 60km marker and everyone there was just lovely! :) Great breather had there by me I must say and I was delighted I did stop. I remember looking at my odometer not too long after that mark and thinking this is when I'd normally be finishing, but then looking up their was nothing ahead but climbs.

We'll get that climb next year hun! You hear me?! 2013 and we'll climb it! :pac:

It's great when you get into a group, I am hoping that next year my pace will be faster and I can join a group!

Next year that is my hill to beat! We can do it! As one of the kids at the side of the road shouted to us as we passed "You can do it" :D

I never find any pics of myself, thankfully :pac:

Here - Best of Luck in your 140km too! I'm sure you'll do great. This was a great tester I found to know what needs to be done from here. Since we're both aiming for ROK2013 too, your 140km will be a greater marker. Best of Luck with it :)

The support en route was lovely :o The kids really got enthused didn't they! Yeah that'll be complete next year by us! We will be better prepared for it.
Yeah, doubt I'll see pix of myself online, that's okay too though ;)

I've chosen the Rebel Rider 85km cycle on 15th September 2012 as my next challenge. It was a close call between that and The Conor Pass Challenge both falling on the same day.

I've gone with Cork for a few reasons. Namely, the scenery is something I would like to experience on my bike; I have no need to rush getting to the 180km level just yet; I've done the Ring of North Kerry already along with the Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford so I'd like to branch out and have a wee tour of Cork next :)

Training was hit by illness recently but I'll be back on my bike shortly and will be more than ready for my 85km Rebel Rider Tour Saturday week!

    Registered this evening in Ballincollig!

I was ill before the Sean Kelly 100km but still managed to complete it. I was diagnosed with food-poisoning within days after that cycle  which kept me off my bike for over a week. I've been smothered with a head-cold the last few days of this week so prep work for this has just been shockin' to day the least :(

I wonder though, do the serious, serious cyclists still get the buzz and kick that I got today when I arrived to register. Couldn't believe the pick-me-up I got from arriving and registering. Head-cold was nothing but a second thought. Great buzz but a little strange I must say to get a buzz from registering for a cycling event :o

The volunteers in Ballincollig this evening were lovely and bubbly so they were, in top-form! To the man who went straight to giving me a small jersey when I arrived to him, that was nice of you, but maybe next-year the small would be okay for me :D

I know I'll be okay through the Caha Pass on to the foot of the Healy Pass, but the Healy Pass will test everything I have in me, since I am not at full-health. I know it will and it will be a slight concern of mine.

Their won't be any clock-watching at this event for me since I am not at full-health. I am doing this for me. This commitment is for me. This challenge will be complete by me!

Thanks to my employers for giving me this day off work and so long as I am in uniform and able to work at 7am on Sunday morning, I don't give two hoots how long it takes me to complete this 85km. Truly don't! :)

I'm at the halfway mark and delighted with myself. Jeez the Caha Pass was something special. Exhilarating I must say! Proud of myself for even doing this much with a headcold.

Not sure why but this meant more to me today than the Sean Kelly 100km in Waterford. It could be put down to everything I have gone through in the last 20days, maybe not. I was just delighted with myself today.

En route I had my usual self-doubt and concerns about not being able to complete it :o I finished my Rebel Rider 85km today at the 4hr mark proud, energetic, and confident about myself and what I can actually achieve once I put my mind to it. A mentor once asked me “why put off until tomorrow what you can do today” and tbh I don’t think Hugh realises how much of an impact those words have had on me. It turned my life around in ways I never imagined. Cannot thank him enough! Those words enter my mind every day and my life has changed for the better as they were said at a vital time in my life, when I needed to hear them the most.

Today was a good day for kerry4sam. The elements were challenging, the route was challenging, but everything felt manageable with the people around me today. The ES personnel and Volunteers were wonderful and they were everywhere. It seemed like their were more working today than in Waterford and it was reassuring I must say. Thanks so much to every single one of you! All of the cyclists were supportive and were just happy! It was nice being in their presence. The last 15km in Waterford took everything out of me, but today it was grand thanks to the kerryman I cycled the last 20km today with :)

A few things of note: The markings on the road warning about pot-holes ahead which were filled in v-recently, but some thoughtful person went and marked the road to warn all cyclists. Much appreciated. The volunteers with the flags and whistles were on top-form today, cheery and supportive! A shout-out to the one guy who told me “right over the bridge, left at An Sipin bar, and ENJOY what comes after!” – Your music was shocking, but you brought a smile to my face so Thank You.

I had so many doubts en route this sportive. If I had serious training done before-hand who knows what time I would have pulled in, but 4hrs was good for me. I was proud of that time considering how little training I had done before-hand, and looking back, their was no need for the self-doubt! :o

The Ring of Kerry 2013 is well on target now. I know it is in me. That challenge will be met and marked off my bucket-list! :)

Well my next challenge is set! Loop Head cycle from Kilrush :)

I’ve done a 70km Ring of North Kerry; 100km Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford; 85km Rebel Rider tour in West Cork … next challenge will be the 90km Loop Head cycle in Clare. It would be nice to have spins around Limerick and Tipperary before this year is out, but Kerry, Waterford, Cork & Clare will be nice to have complete before end September considering I only purchased my lickle Dawes in July 2012 :o

At work last Sunday morning I was never so happy to be able to avail of a large leather seat for my shift. Man was I sore that morning but adrenalin was still pumping so I wasn’t actually tired. I went out for a spin Monday after un-expected change in plans left me with the day, so that was nice to stretch me auld legs.

I’m sure the Loop Head cycle in Clare will be a lovely Sunday spin. I’ve never even been for a drive around this route but I’ve heard charming stories and seen some really nice pictures from the area, not to mention my friends boasting about the area around the light-house where we will be having a break so I am looking forward to that.

Serious training will commence for this to start bringing my time down to a competitive level.

Looking forward to Sunday 30th September in Kilrush, Co. Clare now so I am and to completing my next challenge :)

I done a cycle today that when I first started out, took me weeks to complete. I cycled 45km today in 1 1/2hrs on a route that now, is like a stroll in the park for me, but when I started out was like aaargh!

When I started out I would cycle some, then turn and return. Gradually building distance each time and wondering will I ever reach the destination I reached today. Doing that same route today, as I said, with the training I have done to date and with the increase in my fitness levels, this route was grand :)

Looking back at what and where I have cycled since I purchased my lickle racer, I do need to remind myself that I have overcome a lot worse; I have cycled hills so much tougher and have cycled for longer distances and

tbh! I cannot put in to words how GREAT a feeling that actually is :o

    Onwards and Upwards for kerry4sam!

West Clare CC – you guys are fantastic! Today was so well organised and a credit to your cycling club & the other cycling-clubs who participated today!

There were approx. 40-50pax cycling today and everyone I spoke & cycled with were just lovlely and down-to-earth. It was a small group and everyone helped each other.

I would like to give a few Shout-outs:
~ Thanks to West Clare CC, especially our leader for your guidance and route-breakdown. I’d never been in the area before but it was explained so clearly, it would have been v-hard to actually get lost! Thank You :)

~ James who accompanied me for the most part of today, but your company on the climbs up to the Loop Head Light-house was great! To the member of West Clare CC who cycled past informing us we were on the last climb – ha! I did need to hear those words, but cannot believe I actually believed you!

~ Michael & Kathleen who I cycled from Kilkee to Kilrush with: You two were just wonderful company on the home-straight. Cheers :)

~ Every person who I spoke & had a laugh with today – Thanks so much. I needed the enjoyment I had today out cycling. Every person there today were just so friendly and the camaraderie was evident from the get-go and carried on through to the very end. Today was a delightful days’ cycle.

I’ve some pix to attach to my log from today which will follow.
Next up I will have to plan two 80-100km routes in both Tipperary & Limerick to complete before this year is out. It would be nice to conclude 2012 having done cycles in every county in Munster. That would be a nice finish to 2012 now for me before 2013 commences and I start upping my game to increase distances closer to the Ring of Kerry standard. My training is going well but my fitness is not yet up to ROK level. I will get there though!

When I think back to when I was driving to Tarbert this morning to catch the ferry over to Killimer and on to Kilrush then to commence the cycle and how tempted I was to actually turn around and hop in to bed – I am just so proud of myself that I drove on. I met some wonderful people today and cycled another 90km in a part of the country that Bord Fáilte could do more to promote imo. The promotion done to date on West Clare is not sufficient for the beauty I witnessed today. Stunning!
Part of me kept driving when I remembered why I signed up and decided to do this 90km – to increase my physical fitness gradually and to be in a position to complete ROK 2013 and mark it off my bucket-list. Another reason was so I wouldn’t have to post back in the Wimp-List. Yes that too was motivation to brave the elements are drive on. It was miserable this morning with localised flooding all the way to Tarbert, but Clare never left me down!

    Waiting at Tarbert:

I've created a route for myself on MapmyRide (here) that's coming in at 85.36km to cover my Tipperary route. I just need to finalise a date for myself for next-week or week after subject to work commitments :)

Thurles start & ending point -> N62 to Roscrea -> down on R445 & R499 past Toomevara -> back to Thurles via Borrisoleigh on R498.

This is just a personal challenge for myself to have cycled a route in all 6 counties in Munster before year out :o.

Once this route is complete by me I will plan a route for Limerick and see how I am set then to see if I'm near to ROK fitness to complete at least once before y/ending 2012. Optimistic I know and it's not yet set in stone. I'm just going to cycle my routes in Tipperary & Limerick first and see how I am set fitness-wise after them :)

Hi Kerry. The Tipperary route that you have chosen is very boring IMHO - I know those roads and have cycled them.

A stunning route that would help you cycle in Limerick & Tipperary would be a 100km loop around Lough Derg starting in Killaloe.

    Alternatively
Castleconnel OBriensBridge Killaloe/Ballina Shalee Silvermines Newport is a great route. If you can take a a detour to take in the Clare Glens it is fantastic.

You've put me thinking now about that 100km Loop.

If I done that in 1day and stayed somewhere in that area and done my 85km ^^ the following morning, it would give me a great indication of how I'd be set to take on the 180km ROK in 1day then.
I've some planning to do over the coming days to get this right. The lads in Clare were brilliant at outlining our route so we wouldn't get injured or lost, they pulled us all together and made sure we knew where we were going and what lay ahead at beginning and mid-way.

So this will be a nice new challenge for me :D Fun days planning ahead for me. Thanks ROK ON, appreciate that :)

@kerry4sam IMO the ROK is easier than doing 180km in two days because you don't have to get on your bike tired the day after a long cycle, it's all done in one go.

If you can do 100km in one cycle you can do the ROK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,127 ✭✭✭✭kerry4sam

I've decided that I won't be doing the above route ^^^. That to me, on reflection is an un-necessary short-cut.

The routes that will be done will be a separate route in Limerick and Tipperary. I've also created a lovely route that I'd like to have the legs for, around Lough Derg (here 128.5km) after I complete my personal challenge around Munster.

Tipperary is now different & is coming in here at 94.33km while Limerick here is 73.66km.

I just need to finalise two back-to-back dates now to complete these over the next week of two. It's to get the distance in the legs now.

This evening I cycled a 67km route in 2hr5mins. It was a route I'd be fairly familiar with which would have helped with my timing. I find myself getting stronger, fitter, more relaxed on my lickle racer and am enjoying cycling more so now than before. This evening I went out cycling in the pelting rain with a biting wind the entire time, but I put on a smile and just went with it.

I did attract more attention today. Not sure if that was due to the fact I was the only person out braving the elements, or the fact that my new clothes arrived and I wore them today and were a lickle eye-catching :o

    - HH begonia coloured thermal tights with my black padded shorts over
    - my Polaris cosy fleecy black overshoes
    - HH begonia coloured l/s base-layer under my s/l jersey
    - Pearl Izumi pink gilet

I really only found a chill when I stopped at my destination before returning, otherwise delighted with thermal tights and base-layer.

Kerry, I live in the Lough Derg area and have done the loop around it a few times, it's quite challenging but also rewarding. I was trying to view your route to see which way you're doing it but apparently we need to be friends on mapmywhatever! Can you post it somehow so I can see it? Correct me if I'm wrong on this by the way.

I was trying to view your route to see which way you're doing it but apparently we need to be friends on mapmywhatever! Can you post it somehow so I can see it? Correct me if I'm wrong on this by the way.

PS Well done on the training...

I've the routes set to 'friends' on mapmyride alright. You could message me on there or add me as a friend on there if you know me though no bother.

Since I will be cycling my Tipperary & Limerick routes solo, I decided to raise some funds for charity.

@ You reading here who know me: I'm using the same mycharity linkie from my last sponsorship exercise. I'll be taking on more cycling challenges before Christmas so you can always wait for the next. This will be your heads' up :)

These 2 cycles will be totalling 169km cycled back-to-back this coming Tuesday 9th & Wednesday 10th October 2012 to complete my Personal Cycling Challenge around Munster. I will be posting details and pictures (& maybe videos) in my log here.

Where is the link so we can donate?

The routes that will be done will be a separate route in Limerick and Tipperary. I've also created a lovely route that I'd like to have the legs for, around Lough Derg (here 128.5km) after I complete my personal challenge around Munster.

Tipperary is now different & is coming in here at 94.33km while Limerick here is 73.66km.

Any chance you could make those routes publicy viewable? They're only showing up your member profile at the mo...

Details to follow of Limerick & Tipperary but routes of between 70 - 100km have been cycled by me now in all 6 Counties of Munster.

    Personal Challenge Complete :D

    Hi there,

I won't be making my personal mycharity linkie available or everyone would know right-off who I am then, however,

If you or anyone else would like to donate to the charity that I am, then send me on a pm and I will send on all relevant details no bother :)

Those donations/sponsorships won't then be listed under my own name but that is okay as the monies will all going to the one place anyways ;)

Those two maps are open publicly now on mapmyride. Now, I must say though that they were my intended routes.

I had them saved on my phone and even wrote out the detailed routes in a notebook I had in my backpack, but I still got lost took lovely un-planned detours in both Limerick & Tipperary adding in extra mileage and scenery :o

The Regional Roads these days are a cyclists paradise! The traffic was few and far between and the surfaces were better than anticipated by me. I decided to cycle Limerick, the shortest route on day#1 as primarily a warm-up for my 94km in Tipperary, but also because I’d be late travelling up, so the shortest distance with the short evenings we now have made more sense for me.

    Day#1 – Limerick:
This route was grand to cycle. I hit the outskirts of Limerick City at a very busy time, but all in all, very easy route. No major difficulty, so a grand route for anyone to take on imo.
My biggest concern on day#1 was that I would be burst a tyre or get a puncture when I’d be in the middle on no-where on my own and that would throw me off for Tipp but all went well, thank God!
Some lovely scenery though. I took one sharp-turn off to the left beside a pub/shop? before Bruff village, sign-posted Lough Derg drive for cars (had another for buses a little further on), and came across some ruins and fabulous view of the lake with swans a plenty.

before turning back and joined the main road again for Bruff.

There really are some lovely, quiet villages on the two routes I cycled.
I wasn’t on form for this cycle. As the auld song goes “the humour is on me now”. Well, I think that’s the name of the song, it was the way I felt anyways. May have enjoyed it more if that was different, but who knows.

    Day#2 – Tipperary:
There is some lovely club and county pride evident in Tipperary.
    35D801395349433291F2D707CD08949D-0000359217-0003039054-00500L-35D89AAAEBCE4545BAFBBBE7D7DC14F7.jpg

I enjoyed this route, though it was primarily due to the scenery around me. I did encounter a few climbs but once I told myself “lookit, I’ve climbed the Caha Pass & the Healy Pass so surely I can cycle this sitting-down at leisure”, they were okay. Their were a few periods where twas just up and down, up and down, though I can’t remember if they are on my map or part of my un-planned scenic detour.

I am looking forward to cycling around Lough Derg after what I saw the last two days (some pictures on here), and especially if Ballina-Killaloe are anything to go by. The views in parts was like being at home :)

Every person I met en route were lovely, especially those who gave me directions, even if they did tell me to turn around and cycle back that route to correct myself. The routes were pure country country roads, so peaceful and quiet, where everyone saluted like they do in the country down here. Just a friendly country-folk habit. It was nice.

I learned I am more than capable of taking on the 128km Lough Derg cycle hassle-free. I do actually have the legs for it and I know the scenery will take my mind off any tough peddling anyways. That cycle will be done.
Though, I’d like my next challenge to incorporate 3-4days and cover more ground from county A – county B++ maybe?! Some planning to do there but that’s my only step up, challenge-wise as the Lough Derg cycle will just be a treat for me now, more so than a challenge.

I was expecting myself to be soar?, in more pain I suppose but I'm surprisingly okay. My fitness has really improved! My mental strength to just plow on and keep going while getting tired is stronger than ever! Cycling the last two days in very unfamiliar routes on my own taught me more than a few lessons. I was more than prepared and stocked up with everything imaginable. The major challenge for me was doing this solo, more so than the actual routes. The other cycles in Kerry, Waterford, Cork & Clare had ES personnel travelling, an emergency number to call, support and camaraderie all the time en route and very little to worry about. They was always someone there who could assist.

If I can cycle 169km+ over two days, without the majority of the above, then anyone can. I learned a few lessons about myself too over the last two days, and if anything, I am even more determined than ever to up my cycling challenges :)

Well I've my new set of Personal Challenges set. With other commitments, this will take me my two days off work this week & my 2days off work next-week and I've to find accommodation for both trips to save travelling considering the locations.

    My challenge is to cycle:
    ~ Lough Derg 128km
    ~ Lough Ree 93km
    ~ Lough Corrib 127km
    ~ Lough Mask / Lough Carra 100km

I'll be taking Lough Derg & Lough Ree (221km) this week with Lough Corrib & Lough Mask/Lough Carra (227km) the following week :)

My training since I last posted has had me cycling 80-100km trips solo every 3-4 days. My fitness levels are surprising me at the moment. I'm actually passing places smiling these days that when I started out, I needed to stop & take a breather and some fluids. Now - just peddling past smiling delighted with myself at how much I have improved!

Cycling is something that everyone should be encouraged to take up. Not only is it a great way to improve fitness & stamina, but it gives a wonderful sense of freedom. I was asked, only this week, if I'll be locking up my bike soon for the Winter with the road-conditions getting worse but all I could do was smile and say 'No. Their is such a great sense of freedom on the bike. I'm not ready to put my bike away for the Winter just yet :) ). They had a point though on the worsening weather & road-conditions so I've pushed these routes forward a week to ensure I do complete these two further Personal Challenges. Another reason is that I am waiting on movement on another aspect of my life which will happen within two weeks and that will reduce my spare time again so this week & next is what I am left with. But that's okay.

If anyone reading here has cycled the above routes and has tips or pointers you'd like to share, feel free to do so.

Just be careful on the road between Galway and Headford (N84) if it not a Sunday. Its very busy and exposed in places. Also quite narrow and twisty for a few Km before Headford.
Other than that the 3 lakes a great cycling country. Enjoy

I can actually mark Lough Ree & Lough Derg of my to-do list, seriously delighted & proud with myself! :D

With everything, I forgot that my University Graduation is on next-week (1st Class Honors - boom!) and work will be unreal busy with mid-term so part2 of 2 of my 5-Lakes will be postponed by at least a week. I know there is a deadline with my charity with where the monies raised will be going and the great work that will be under-taken so my cycle will be done within 2-weeks no fear! :)

Day#1: Started off yesterday with Athlone as my base for cycling Lough Ree 93km (here) and that was just one long tough cycle! Tbh there were sections of long long straights with little no views of note, mainly bog and greenery, but no view of Lough Ree and no-one to chat to en route as all the towns and villages were so quiet.
It was good for me though in that it stretched my legs and end result was that I knew I'd the 93+km in me. Progress!

One of the few good views of Lough Ree:
    3129168CC61041EFB0DC3E3078B9ED7D-0000359217-0003054917-00500L-B49F8DA59583470D9D5FF3A71A687937.jpg

Took a lovely detour to Clonmacnoise for Personal Reasons (I know you're proud of me nan!)
    491672C9B21F43939BF683543DDC3043-0000359217-0003054926-00500L-D238F8C55CE8442AA902D7D0FEC5ABAF.jpg

I even had more in me after yesterday, but probably should have left it there since I hadn't fully recovered in time for my cycle today.

Day#2: Lough Derg where Portumna was by base and right now I don't know what in the name of all that is holy possessed me to tackle such a huge task after my 90+km yesterday  Savage Heavy Challenge! Wrecked would be an under-statement.

~ Teresa & Gerry: You took me in your guest-house and treated like a prodigal daughter. Lovely folks!

~ Mary in Scariff G.S.: Thanks for the advice and your parting words made me smile "May the sun shine over you as you look down on Lough Derg". Mary, the only time the sun shone for me was after I left your Garda Station and made my way to Killaloe. Even the ducks made an appearance. This pic is for you hun & Thanks:

    BA18B6B3673140A7800420B7ECE75A3F-0000359217-0003054951-00500L-20EA8383EC0B4FF3B0D7E9A6FC23F639.jpg

I can easily see why so many groups under-take this cycle for charity. Must return though once weather improves next-year as today as just gloomy and over-cast.

My Lough Derg route (here) is not actually was I ended up cycling. This morning I awoke to dense fog and mist so reversed my route to finish my cycle on the main National Primary road to Nenagh instead of the local Regional roads considering the bad weather. Visibility was so poor in places that I couldn't see 5-feet infront of me. Very bad weather today.

~ To the lovely Guard in Nenagh who I spoke with about that gent, I hope he is okay :o
I took one turn (won't say where) and ended up phoning the local G.S. about this man, but was diverted to Nenagh instead and spoke with a lovely lady. There was this man, standing on the bend in the fog with dirty torn clothes, handbag and wearing lipstick. Clearly not okay! He was a danger to himself and others there with the speed the cars were travelling that road, he could've been wiped or injured by someone taking that bend. Visibility was poor and he startled me. Last thing I expected to encounter. The guard, once hearing the location, the fact is was a man with a handbag and wearing lipstick told me "ah yes, we know him alright". Luckily not too many of those characters in that area. He was a danger to himself and others. Just smiled when he saw me & I just said 'morning' but I sure peddled faster than I'd ever peddled up a hill before!

~ One thing I love about cycling is when I see people going about their daily lives and look like they've the weight of the world on their shoulders but I catch their attention cycling past - I just smile and wave and they instantly smile. It's something I enjoy doing. Even if that smile only lasts those few seconds, smiling instantly makes people feel better and I like that :o Done that several times over the last two days with some people and it even gave me a lickle boost.

This cycle took everything out of me. Never thought I would actually finish it. The Lough Derg cycle would be enjoyable if the weather was good, and if I hadn't taken on the 90+km yesterday.

All in all, two very Challenging days cycling, but what a great way to spend my two days off work this week! Delighted with myself for completing this section.

/I've the routes made public for anyone who would like to take them on.

When it comes time to up your challenges, a bit of Audax might suit you...

Thank You :) Hooked would be an understatement tbh! Whenever a car passes me now with bikes on the back-rack I'm always looking now to see what the bikes are like. Same with other cyclists I see anywhere, I just want to join them :o

Never heard of that website until now. Will defo be looking into that. Ah but that hill on the top picture looks a right killer

    Cheers!
