Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not going for any season long bets this year unless Gavin throws up something interesting.

Games can be very tough to call in the first few rounds but I'm on the following ....

Dundalk win and over 2.5 at 8/11
City win and over 2.5 at 2/1 seems a very nice price
Over 2.5 in bohs game at 11/8

A few quid on the treble aswell at over 11/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,266 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Murray wincast 11/8 looks a great bet to me. Also a nibble on Folan at 17/2, got a few for us last season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,965 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

No season bets really - Paddy Power aren't doing handicap nor sack race (wanted Bradley). Me and the 3 lads I pick bets with have taken two small each way bets on Top Goalscorers Akinade (14/1) and Kieran Sadlier (25/1).

With regards to the coming season and write ups - me and the 3 lads (Alan, Aidan and Graeme) have decided to forfeit doing write ups due to time constraints, new jobs, etc... and organisation of getting them done by Thursday night (most of us would be in work Friday then to an LoI game straight after or travelling to aways).

So going forward - it will be just the bet, odds and stake posted unless there is some vital information for the bet e.g. 5 first team players out, etc... You can be certain though, the quality of the bets won't decrease and that the matches/bets will be discussed by the 4 of us in the week leading up to games and all bets agreed on by us (majority rule).

    ***LEAGUE OF IRELAND BETS***
All small bets this week due to it being the first game.

    Dundalk -1.5 @ 1.80 (General) - Small Stake
Waterford Draw No Bet @ 4/5 (General) - Small Stake
    Sligo -0.25 @ 1.80 (General) - Small Stake

Meant to post earlier, had a treble consisting of:
    Waterford/Derry BTTS.
    Bohs/Rovers BTTS.
    Dundalk win & Over 1.5.

Dundalk minus 1 let my Acca down as well . Looks like they cost a lot of people

    Sligo Rovers v Limerick

No lineups out yet obviously but I'm not around this evening so I'm already on

Adam Morgan to score @3.6 on Powers/betfair

Adam Morgan two or more goals @15.00 on Boyle's

Adam Morgan to score a hat trick @101 on Coral / sky

Things haven't gone to plan for him since starting Europa league games + 1 prem league game for Liverpool.. Reading interviews with him lately though he seems to be in a positive frame of mind about what he needs to do to go back up the football ladder. Impressed in pre season too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,293 ✭✭✭Dio On The Doubles

No goal for Morgan. He didn't get much of a mention on the club twitter account either. It was a scrappy affair last night according to same twitter feed.

Waterford Draw No Bet @ 4/5 (General) - Small Stake
    Sligo -0.25 @ 1.80 (General) - Small Stake

Just one winner from 3 - Waterford winning 2-1. Dundalk poor by all accounts and drew 0-0 while Sligo lost 1-0.

Relevant enough, just put a fiver on Newmarket Celtic to win the FAI Junior Cup @ 6/1.

Only two of the five Premier Division games are up on PP, Bray/Pat's and Rovers/Dundalk.
I'll be looking to take Rovers/Dundalk (5/6) and Cork/Waterford BTTS when it's up.
Also, a friend informed me that Waterford are 7/1 to win away to Cork, and a draw is 7/2 on Bet365.

Edit: All the Premier games are up now, got Rovers/Dundalk and Cork/Waterford BTTS @ 2.17.

Bad form 48 hours before matches not to be priced up

I think Athlone last year has scared bookies a bit tbh. LoI First Div games wouldn't be up until sometimes Friday morning last season!

All small bets this week due to it being the early stages still and first games in the 1st Div.

Cabinteely Win @ 1.80 (General) - Small Stake
Bohemians Draw No Bet @ 2.00 (Paddy Power) - Small Stake
Longford Draw No Bet @ 1.75 (Boyles) - Small Stake

Cummins missing nearly put me off city, but first home game, derby, full house, should be enough. Rovers need to perform after last weeks collapse while dundalk will have to get something out of the game also.

    City and over 2.5 11/10
Over 2.5 in Rovers game 11/10
    And the double
Adding btts in Bray game for nearly 7/1 treble

Edit, City only won 2-0, 2 blanks in Rovers , btts landed. Poor.

    Q. What happened Dundalk v Bray two weeks ago?

Is Limerick and the Draw @3/1 tonight, a silly bet?

I'd take the draw just to be honest.
I think 'BTTS - No' wouldn't be a bad shout tonight, Limerick were kept scoreless in their three meetings with Dundalk last season.
I took Dundalk to win to nil @ evens.

Dundalk need to win. No bet for me.

Tough set of fixtures this week but we've picked out two good ones. Bear in mind, Aido is hugely in favour of this Pats bet and he's a Bohs fan - he's been talking it up all week.

St. Pats Draw No Bet @ 1.95 (Ladbrokes) - Small/Med Stake
    Cork City Double Chance @ 1.80 (Bet365) - Small/Med Stake

Dundalk v City is of course the standout fixture tonight. City have a great record against them lately and are the form team of the 2 but Dundalk at home should give City a real battle and could win but I like the price on City way too much.

    City over 1.5 at 2/1
    Cummins anytime 2/1
City win btts at 6/1 is too big not to take for me.

    Other bets I'm on tonight
    Bohs game btts
    Dundalk game over 2.5
    Shams over 1.5
    Treble around 6/1

Edit Dundalk deserving of the win unfortunately, should have been more goals.

Wouldn't take them at 5s tbh.

Waterford +0.25 could be bet. Waiting for starting teams though as both sides saying they're missing a chunk of players - think some of that may be mind games.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,202 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

A few bets for tonight, hoping there's goals.

    City game over 2.5
    Dundalk game over 2.5
    Waterford dnb
    Treble just under 5/1

    City win and over 2.5
    Dundalk win and over 2.5
    Double at 6.5/1

    Free 10 on
    City win btts
    Dundalk win btts
    Derry win at 20/1

Edit. City win but only1-0, Dundalk stutter to a draw, waterford win, Derry win. Needed more goals, not tonight.

Enjoy Cheltenham Gavin. What's the name of the Facebook group actually?

    Derry -1 against Bray @ 11/10 is definitely worth a go, Cork -2 @ 3.2/1 is too.

Edit: Just got both @ 6.88.

    City and over 1.5
    Derry and over 1.5
    Rovers and over 1.5
    15 returns 95

    Over 2.5 treble 10 returns 60

Hoping for more goals than last time, wanted to take Dundalk but I don't trust them and Waterford are riding high.

Early LoI bet for Friday. Cork City -1.5 @ 1.80 - Med-Large Stake.

Odds going in the past 24 hours, with the 1.80 only left in a few places. No real info just that Cork are far superior and Bray dire. Top versus Bottom. Bray just 1 point and -14 Goal Dif in 7 games losing their last 6 League games and knocked out of the League Cup by 1st Div Shelbourne on Monday.

Our other bet for the weekend is Galway -0.25 @ 1.85 - Small/Medium Stake
We debated Drogs -0.5 and Waterford -0.5. May be worth inplay bets. I'll be en route to Wexford for the Shelbourne game so won't be around to post.

I generally don't go near scoreline bets but:

Bohs to win 1-0 against Limerick @5.5
Eoghan Stokes/Dinny Corcoran to score first and Bohs to win 1-0 @16/1

    Worth a punt?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,965 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Correct Score bets are never a bet for me unless there's a chance of a fixed game or handshake games (both teams needing a 1-1 draw, etc...)

Decided to have a punt anyway, but I'd definitely agree with you Gavin.
€2 on a 1-0 home win @ 5.5 and €1 each on Eoghan Stokes to score first and Bohs to win and the same for Dinny Corcoran @ 4.5.

    Over 2.25 is Over 2, 2.5.

Asian goal-line odds available on Bet365, Marathon Bet and Asian bookies. It means that if it's a 2 goal game, you will get have half your stake voided and refunded. It's an added safety net but shorter odds.

If you don't use those sites - Over 2.5 goals would be a Small bet.
