Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

AH used to be a bit of craic.

Agree, now it's just full of fat-women-hating-racist-neckbeard-pricks.

For the fellas saying "Just a biffa banta, innit, guv.", how would you react if you were standing at the bar ordering a pint and a fella, that you've neither seen nor heard of before, came up to you and grabbed your bits and bobs?

Did they catch up with the asshole yet, had he a defence?

I've had long hair for years. Was at a late bar last Christmas and felt the hand get a right good grab. Turned round, grabbed your man in a hold and planted a good wet big kiss on him and screamed "was that what you were after lad. now f**k off".

Happens about once a year to me, i must have a very feminine butt.

Lol, I'd say he got some shock when that happened. But seriously, who are these men who feel entitled to go around groping anyone that they identify as a female? Disgusting behaviour.

Yeah, we all know how they would react. But because it's a woman in this case, she is an over reacting, hysterical harpy of course. Ruining that poor man's life etc etc

    It was only a laugh.

    She must be a lesbian.

    I'd say she's "traumatised" lol.

    Don't be so po faced.

Nothing would be said if the roles were reversed!

thinks it's all a zero-sum game where acknowledging that a man did something wrong to a woman is akin to handing the enemy (i.e. women) some kind of victory.
Indeed. However... they're fierce concerned about misogyny by Muslims/the blacks. Fierce concerned all of a sudden then.

I wonder what rock this idiot has been living under, especially since the #metoo movement started. He grabbed a reporter's ass on live TV... What did he think would happen?

Edit: Just noticed that he's from Georgia. I used to live there and the men are... Let's just say far from enlightened.

It's a sad day when a middle-aged man can't slap the arse of a woman half his age without the po-faced woke-brigade ruining everything.

Exactly, theres no point in getting out of bed anymore.

Dont slap people’s asses. It’s a simple rule.

Unless they ask you to. But as a general rule and an absolute rule with strangers, yeah don’t slap people’s arses.

This is an interesting example. It’s a clear case of someone slapping a stranger on the arse. Simple as that.

It’s blown up because it’s actually on camera. But it’s a case of whether you see slapping strangers arses as wrong or not.

Is it the worst crime imaginable? No, obviously not.

Is it a form of sexual assault? Probably at the least severe end of the spectrum.

If you find yourself saying it’s not a problem to slap strangers arses then you’ve probably lost perspective.

I hope she gets a fortune from him. You can clearly see him drop his shoulder as he approaches her, he knew exactly what he was doing.

Maybe some men don't see the problem here? The more people sue for this sort of thing the better. maybe the message will get through.

More protection on your part, regardless.

She did nothing wrong, the guy who touched her did, and yet here you are badmouthing her, a 23 year old woman you've never met. Guys like you clearly do exist. Interesting, thanks.

    No it isn't.

I have a problem with all misogyny, no matter who it's by. I don't pick and choose according to nationality/religion.

Of course there is a scale and women definitely get treated far far worse in the Arab world and Africa than they do in the West.

But it looks downright disingenuous to obsessively refuse to acknowledge - and downplay/ridicule - crappy treatment of a woman like the folks I'm talking about do. And express blatant hostility towards women. And whatabout like their lives depend on it. And then to claim to be concerned about misogyny elsewhere. Particularly when they don't want those mistreated women and girls to be given refuge here. It's exactly the equivalent of the feminist crowd who refuse to acknowledge terrible treatment of women by muslims/travellers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,253 ✭✭✭Sonics2k

I am absolutely mind blown by people saying she needs to get over this.

I'm more than sure that most men in here would be the very first to throw a punch at someone if they slapped the arse of their wife or daughter randomly on the street.

To be named and shamed world wide for slapping a girls ass is completely over the top.

Had he murdered her on camera then fair enough. The punishment far out weighs the crime here. Yes he was completely wrong to do what he did.

Well I hate to point out the blindingly obvious but he did it on live TV right in front of the camera. What did he expect would happen the dope.

She was confident and assertive enough to have tweeted in the aftermath...
To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: You violated, objectified, and embarrassed me. No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!! Do better.

    ... and good for her.

But do people who are really disrespected and humiliated go on Twitter ? I don't think so. More than any other cohort in society, media types know that for every statement you make on social media, a certain portion of people will mercilessly... disrespect and humiliate you.

I think when something like that happens in a public sphere and you're someone with something of a profile you're damned if you do, damned if you don't

Fcking ridiculous, the whole thing. Every bit of it.
    Him smacking her ass, stupid.
The awful news report about it is worse.
Him being named and shamed worldwide including his social media profile and any side activities, is beyond ridiculous.

I have had my ass smacked in public, by a random stranger. Never did I feel humiliated or assaulted. I felt confused for about 3 minutes, and then forgot about it mostly until now.

Well, ok, you've elaborated your point very succinctly, and it would be stupid to argue with anything you've said there, in terms of how people should behave decently to others.

I imagine you're as well aware as I am though, that the faintest whiff of the immigration issue - on either side - is often fatal to a thread on here.

By 'fortune' I was really just using a figure of speech, but I hope he has to pay financially in some way, since I expect it is highly unlikely any police action will follow. His 'apology' shows he still doesn't get that he did anything wrong. A few bob out of his bank account might drive it home.

And if this had happened on the street we'd never have heard about it either.

But it didn't. It happened on live tele in front of a camera. Of course people were going to see it and want to identify him. That was inevitable.

Not only would it have been more fun to watch, it also would have avoided the droll, so-unsurprising reactions.

    Not really.

I doubt you would think that if it was your significant other or daughter.

Look, this stuff comes with the territory if you're going to be out and about with the public and interacting with same. It's been blown up for sure but it's still behaviour that's simply not on or acceptable.

I’d be glad someone found the significant others bum attractive- people would seriously want to lighten up a bit !
