I'm all over Ulster to win. I expect the line will move significantly upon the lineup announcement. I have a feeling Ulster will put out some starters.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,830 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Yeah I think ulster will be rabid to win this....

I'd even expect then to beat a -5 or -6 spread, even before any teams named

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,830 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

and in typical fashion the money is going the other way :D

    ... ulster now +3

Two awful games IMO but fortunately I only listened to the Leinster/Ulster game on the radio before enduring the Munster/Connacht one in my local - hard stuff to watch! Anyway 12% or so ahead on the weekend and I'll leave it at that. Thankfully the Conor Murray bet was voided as I don't think even he could have made much impact. :(

    Munster -15 vs Benetton
    Ulster -8 vs Connacht

I think Benetton will play the game of their lives, 15 points is a big head start for them. Ulster's handicap looks about right but their injuries are a concern.

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,830 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    Ulster down to -6 already.

    Might be value in that

I'm on enniscorty -8 in todays towns cup final

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,830 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

doing a double on both away teams to beat the spread.

    benetton +15
    connacht +6

    @ approx 3/1

Finally made up my mind this evening - 50% on Sarries to win and remaining 50% on three MOTM possibles.

Backlash from Leinster this weekend? Munster - is everything well in the camp?

    Leinster -8 @ 10./11 looks tempting.

Sarries -7 in the second half 1/1

    Exeter by 1-12 2/1

Glasgow win and under 42.5 11/4

    Doubles and a treble

Two 1st half bets: Glasgow more than 7.5 and Leinster more than 9.5.

Definitely on the up but think it’s a stretch to think they will beat New Zealand again in NZ. Rassie also said yesterday that he’s going to split resources so first game v Australia will feature a lot of the fringe players as some of the big hitters are sent to NZ in advance.

Think the price is about right however.

NZ have a habit of losing a game in the build up to the RWC.....
    (australia 2015, SA + Australia in 2011, Australia 2007)

Steve Hanson has been quoted as saying that a loss in the run up isnt the end of the world and could help focus the team.....

with the short format of this years championship i think theres a chance they could get picked off, and it wont be australia or agentina doing it.....

and 11/2 is good enough value to have me interested anyway ;)

going with NZ and Argentina both to win between 1 -12 points @ 11/1 special with PP

while i still think theres a good chance SA can beat the ABs, i think the value in this is too good to dismiss

Looking for some value in RWC top try scorer
    Kolbe @20s looks decent.
After NZ they play Namibia, Italy then Canada. Could see him playing at least 3 of the games.
A bit of value in Australia
    Koroibete @50s
    I’m unsure of Chieka’s first choice 15 (Beale 66s), 14 (Petty 66s) and will James O’C (n/a) play 13 or 15?

Did well at the weekend with England -8 Lol. It helped deaden the pain of the anticipated massacre.

Probably stay away from the betting for a while now but England @ 4/1 for the RWC looks worthwhile.

yeah i dont really like betting on the warmups as there really is nothing on the line, but i think ireland simply have to be like dogs on saturday. At the very least the intensity needs to be lifted, and i think there will be some significant changes in the forwards with those coming in knowing they have a real chance of both making the plane and getting a starting jersey.

if joe goes for minimal injury enforced changes then fcuk that for a game of soldiers.

Wouldn’t be touching England for the World Cup at 4s personally. Their schedule is too tough. Argentina France in last two weeks of pool stage followed by Aus/Wales, NZ/SA and a final.

See them picking up injuries and don’t think they have anywhere close to same standard on bench.

I think England could be a good championship team.

They are a big, direct, hard carrying team. They focus on their own game and keep things simple.

They are 3 injuries away from being utterly ordinary, but in the meantime most teams will find it tough to live with the pressure they can apply.

An ugly brand of rugby but eerily similar to the type of team that won them a world cup.

Yeah I may have been a bit dismissive and I certainly wouldn’t rule them out but 4s is way too short to be backing them for me.

Assuming they come out of the group in good style and injury free, conservative prices for them in the following three matches would be around 1-2, 5-6 and 5–6. They might be a bit shorter in a quarter final against Australia but think they would be a big longer in the following two games. That’s a 4-1 treble on its own (of course if you were doing this you would be taking the slight risk they come through after extra time in a game which wouldn’t affect a world
Cup bet) and you would know whether Billy/Manu etc are out.

Their schedule is a real hurdle too, if they manage to come through those 5 games in 5 weeks it will be very impressive.

This is probably over thinking it a bit if it’s just a ten euro bet for the craic or whatever!

Another bet of interest - any Six Nations team to win the RWC @ 15/8 with PP.

I'm on it - England are looking good; Wales - who knows ditto France and then there's poor old Ireland.

less than 2/1 is poor value IMO

England are currently at 4/1, and wales and Ireland are at 10/1

England could very likely meet wales in the QFs so that would cut your value again.... and should Ireland get through the pool as winners and the QF, they would meet the winner of that possible England / wales .. so again that value is cut.

essentially youre better off taking the England @ 4/1 bet ;)

A couple of bets that are quite interesting:
England, Wales, Ireland & New Zealand All to Win their Pool Groups @ 3/1
All Southern Hemisphere Final yes @ 11/4

For the first bet I just need to see Ireland's form in the next few test games and for the second bet I don't see any team, bar England, matching the intensity of NZ and the physicality of SA - If NZ and England both finish first in their pool then they will most likely meet in the semies and in this case SA will meet either France or Wales.

    The Jean kleyn bet worked.

Dissappinted the Addison one didn't, as I had mentioned Chris farrell @3's early in the betting but didn't take it, thinking Addison was more utility.

Reece at 12s is looking like value currently.

Japan -40 @10/11 vs Russia looks like free money. I rarely find issue with markets set by bookies in rugby handicaps but that looks way wrong?

    Am I missing something?

should Russia grab a try and a couple of pens, then its a fair ask for Japan to go 50+

i think its about right.... but if i was to call a side id be on the -40 too.....

I don’t know, I’m expecting Japan to put 60+ on them. Had a look at some parts of recent games and they would struggle in the AIL judging by those games.

Haven’t checked forecast which if bad may dampen my expectations. Thinking of pulling trigger with decent bet here. Will wait for Japan’s team.
