    chand tandoori.
my new favorite. ive been using it for months now. ive tried alot of things from the menu and its all delicious. the special chicken tikka is savage.

delivery is a bit slow but its well worth the wait

Have to agree with this - best Indian around.

Best Chinese is Miss Wongs in Leixlip imho.

Son had a chicken curry from chinatown in the village last night. Has been violently ill since early this morning. He said he thought that one of the chicken pieces tasted "a bit funny" Thats the last business they will get from us and I will also arrange a visit from the Health Inspectors for them

anyone know when the the old anadale is opening? beside mcdonalds i saw them renovation it few weeks back

Always use Goodyear Chinese, based near Eurospar. The Mango Tree Thai take away in village is good too but a bit on the expensive side.

Has anyone heard a date for the annadale reopening? It looks very nearly finished.
I hope its as good as it used to be

Was open when I drove past at the weekend. Looks nice, but can't find any info online about menu etc. Seems to be called Annadale Cottage

Got a takeaway from here on Thursday which wasn't great. Ordered a Rendang Curry, and got some chicken in what could have been an Uncle Ben's curry sauce. Very bland. The starter of salt and chili chicken was ok. Also, it was very expensive at €16.50. I won't be going back.

Went down to Annadale Cottage for a takeaway on Saturday-v v busy.
Good news-food is still good AND they're doing deliveries!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 128 ✭✭Hank Schrader

We get all our takeaways from Famous and have never had a bad one

For a sit down The New Good Year (@ Eurospar/Pennyhill) has been execellent on our last few visits (especially for groups). Kevin is a character :D

I really can't directly compare as its a good few years since I'd eaten there.
We only get takeaways occasionally and usually go to The Tasty Chinese in Dodsborough and think thats ok. What we got in the Annadale was WAY better

    Hey all,

A quick note to say that if you're looking for Indian in the Lucan area , Chand tandoori really is top notch. I've been getting takeaways from there for about two years now and have never been disappointed.
I've avoided the place recently as it has kind of changed hands, but stayed in the family! (and I didn't want to be disappointed!) , but having ordered from there tonight , I have to say .. Absolutely SUPERB!!
Just to say , I've no affiliation or anything , but thought a good curry in Ireland is a rare thing! And should be promoted.

    http://www.mealtime.ie/takeaways/lucan-dublin/chand-tandoori-takeaway-indian-t

And now IF ONLY there were a half decent Chinese in the area! I've tried em all, and at best they're just mediocre.

Yeah Broadsider we all believe you, you have no connection to the place.......
Anyway Imo The Mango Tree is the best takeaway in Lucan.
Their Thai Yellow curry is fantastic.

    Heh heh Casey!

I can't blame you , rockin up with a recommendation on my first post .. Does look suspicious.
    Maybe I should have said
'Hi , first post , be gentle' or like.

Anyway , no worries , I see where you're coming from.
I assure you again that I've NO affiliation what so ever , besides being a satisfied customer ...

Btw, I'm new ... Be gentle.

P.S. must try the Mango Tree soon ...

    Any Chinese recommendations?

I found it quiet poor to be honest this time around

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,701 ✭✭✭bogmanfan

I'll second the recommendation for Chand Tandoori. Had a Vindaloo from there last week and it was really good. Spicy, but still lots of flavour.

  • Registered Users Posts: 50 ✭✭Broadsider

Hey Bogman, if you ask for vindaloo you'll get spicy I suppose!

Do you have any recommendations for Chinese in the area?

My work takes me to Limerick from time to time , I love the curry in the Jasmine Palace , but can't find it's like in Lucan, or local area!

I've had takeaways from Chand Tandoori a few times. It's not bad but I wouldn't rate it highly either. They do have a good value special though: starter, any main, naan + rice for €12.95

Kasturi is the best in Lucan imho, but more expensive (still not great though)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,683 ✭✭✭monty_python

    bump!! :P

chand tandoori seems to have closed down so im after a new place for my weekend take away
mango tree is nice but portions are too small

Don't eat many take-aways but nearly always a Mango tree. Its pricey enough though but very tasty. Worth it as a treat

Ate out of the Chinese by the lord lucan a few months back and it wasn't great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,683 ✭✭✭monty_python

I didnt even know pregos closed!!

Ive been out of lucan for 6months and was craving a chand tandoori. I soooo sickened its closed

Indeed. I would need at least 2 portions from there :D

Did you try Kasturi? It is significantly better than the other Indian takeaways (but not cheap)

i dont mind paying a little bit more its its good

Chand tandoori is closed for about 3 of months now. The owner/chef had to go back to Pakistan as his father was taken ill. He said he was planning to come back and re-open. Fingers crossed, as it was the nicest takeaway in Lucan by far.

Why didn't you just go up and collect? ;)

Did just that this evening myself. Some was good but most was mediocre to put it mildly. And it wasn't cheap either.

So the best takeaway in Lucan wasn't great :(

I was missing Chand too , so I tried a few places in the surrounding area.
I have had a few takeaways from 'India Spice House' Main Street Leixlip, and have been very happy with the quality , flavour etc.
It's definitely far ahead of the Kasturi , and much cheaper..
Give the place a shot , see what you think ...

I have, not bad. In my last experience Kasturi got only a 6, but on average I give them an 8 for quality, the place in Leixlip a 7 and Chand a 6

Prices are the other way around with Chand by far the best value, in particular with their special for one

A good alternative for the hungry eater / someone who wants value for money is India gate on the Belgard road. Special for one is a starters combo, any main course on the menu, a rice, a naan, chutneys and sauces for just €13.95 in total iirc. Two of these will easily do 6 adults.

Having mentioned Ruby here yesterday, I couldn't get it out of my mind, so ended up ordering from the Spice House again this evening.
Once again it didn't disappoint .. If you're a fan of really top quality genuine indian food , give this place a shot .. The tarka daal is fantastic!

I ordered a phall from there a while back. Wasn't particularly impressed but I firmly believe I can make better myself and an extremely picky.

Food from annadale cottage is excellent... a bit pricey but delish!

Only thing they haven't mastered is the basic curry sauce, but when the food is that good it shouldn't be drowned out in curry sauce anyway!

Ordered from the Chang Asian recently and it was nice, not quite as nice as the Mango Tree for me but better value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,310 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

Was in Kasturi for a sit in meal. As bog standard indians (i.e, standard meals like madras, balti, vindaloo, chicken lamb or prawn, not something like ananda or kinara kitchen) I was impressed. Got boti kebab for starter, chicken balti for main and both were really nice.
Although one of the waiters was in the jacks ahead of me, I noticed he flushed the jacks and left without washing his hands. Wasn't my waiter, but not a good sign.
