The sound levels on my Shield are all messed up. It was fine yesterday but this morning I have it at max volume and its only a whisper.
Any settings that I can try changing or could it be the TV?

Same happened me recently, there is a setting in the shield audio settings that I changed which fixed it. Passing audio control to the TV or something.

I'm not sure how it changed it the first place but sounds exactly the same.

That fixed it. Same as you I've no idea how it changed in the first place but working fine again.

Guys I threw stb emu on mine last night, and all I can say is wow...

I've only briefly played around with it last night, and will delve into its features and options in more detail later when I get in.

It is a whole new level above plex/kodi or any of the rest.

I'm running an iptv service on it, which obviously can't be discussed here, but it justifies the shields purchase alone.

Lads I'm on mobile until after 5pm or so, and therefore it's a bit of a hassle sending pms to multiple people.

However anyone that wishes to see the stb emu app in action as of 1315 today send me a pm.

    Cheers.

How does it compare to Perfect Player which is what I currently use?

best to stop posting about iptv now, either pm someone or google it
no point risking a good thread

    Bit late for that

    Hi Folks.
Does anyone have any idea what key you press/hold (or key combination) on the mini keyboards to bring up the list of open apps so you can switch between them on the shield?

    Cheers.
    Thanks.
    Eoin.

On my mini keyboard it's a key on the right side of the trackpad that looks like a lower case "e" in italics. you need to double-click it to bring up app switcher menu

Anybody had 2 things playing at the same time ?
I was watching something on plex last night and could hear faint music, turned out to be stb emu and top of the pops was on and the audio was coming through
I thought I was losing the plot
Never happened before and I always have the app open in the background

You shouldn't have it open in the background anyway. It can cause clashes, crashes and in some cases people have been unable to open it again until they performed a factory reset on their device.
Although if you are happy enough, there is an option for it in the app.
Go to settings -> common settings -> stop in background
and make sure it is ticked to stop media stream playing when you switch apps.

Normally when I leave the stb emu app it stops playing
After 3 hours of plex it just started up top of the pops randomly

I had it running on an older Android box a while back and I thought i exited it, but guess I had not. When i went back into it, it was all purple and green nd frozen. I thought it was a HDMI issue etc. eventually had to reinstall it. I found it while I was having that issue, that a lot of people were having different issues leaving it running in the background.
Factory reset is more a PITA than anything else.

Not always. Sometimes you might have to press it twice quickly to bring up all thats active and exit it from that sub-menu, select app, down and select again on the x

I got myself an IPTV provider that was on sale on black Friday, but was a bit lazy and just tried their service using VLC and the provided m3u. I used it about three times, but stopped as I was so unimpressed.

HD channels were poor quality. Some channels labeled incorrectly, others with the wrong audio.

I assume there must be better providers out there!
