Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Alright.

Name me a country in South America, Africa, the Middle East or Asia where you'd rather spend the night in jail than in Finland, Norway or England.

Just image searched. Don't fancy it.

It's not Sushi and Sake mate.

Whereas jail in Norway is better than most of the hotels you'd book.

Which ones? There are multiple types of police in Spain, each with their own levels of professionalism and violence.

Yeah, if you're a suspect over there, you're as good as guilty. Our system isn't great but I'll take it over theirs any day.

I think French consider Irish a bit of cowboys. They even held their own trial when Irish wouldn't. British police has great reputation unless you are Irish, Liverpudlian or poor.

To be clear I know nothing about policing in Cyprus. I presume it happened on Greek part but I suspect I still know more than some geniuses commenting on this thread. I would be at least able to locate Cyprus on the map.

I wont fault that but you shifted from spain and italy.... if your claim was the cloumbian police are a bit 'you know' id get that, no question, but what about the italians ?

Ever been to football abroad? the Spanish and Italian police are known for having a penchant to use their truncheon on one's head.

Everyone knows Mediterraneans are a bit mental. Try dating a Greek girl.

A story from the last champions league final of a Liverpool fan who was on his own having a Spanish cop coming up to him and just taking his ticket!

Yes, Australian cops are notoriously corrupt. It's because of the heat. Meanwhile, North Korean cops are trustworthy because of the cold winters.

You don't have to go to far to find corruption within authorities.

I do feel slightly bad for her on one level. I'm not sure what's going on with her, but it's pretty bad if she made a false allegation.

Although, I wonder were they under age and she was trying to get them to delete the video?

so this is back in the news...

A British teenager accused of lying about being raped has said her statement withdrawing the claims was "not in proper English" and there was "no way" she would have written it, told the court that police forced her to make the statement.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-50072902
Her lawyers say she was told what to write by Cypriot police, led by Detective Sergeant Marios Christou, and the teenager made the statement fearing she would be kidnapped or killed.

"It doesn't make grammatical sense," the teenager said.

"All the way through there isn't one sentence an English person would write."

Wasn't there video evidence of some kind and some of the participants were underage in British law?

I wonder what would have happened if this happened in Britain or the boys weren't Israeli? I wonder how they would have been treated if they were refugees or something?

Tbh, I can only think of two options why (if she is lying and I do believe she is based on video evidence (Which I have not seen) and the fact that one of the assailants wasn't even in the room) she would double down.

    1) The Israeli boys are apparently going for blood in regards to civil actions.

    2) They maye be underage as the cyprus age of consent is 17.

You wonder some strange things lad, TBF.

    What if they were Martians?

You personally think she is lying based on video evidence, video evidence you haven't seen?

    That seems legit.

God, the information from this case is really odd. She said she was afraid to call the British police because she was afraid of getting kidnapped and murdered by the corrupt cyprus police? The statement is in greek English?

Imo, she really isn't doing herself any favors in the newest statements.

Her friend was actually a psychology grad and I would never want that person anywhere near a person in need.

Yeah, I've been following this as it may serve a benchmark for possible false alegations. Kind of an odd development.

This, correct me if I'm wrong, is from a psychologist for a current evaluation and not a past evaluation. Very, very odd tbh.

Well the girl in question got a 4 month suspended sentence so can go home to her family now.

if the whatsapp videos doing the rounds are real then there was only ever going to be this outcome.

It's a disgusting sad video. She was used and abused. I'd like to know if she has alcohol on board,if so then she was basically raped!?

  • Registered Users Posts: 325 ✭✭thequarefellow

This case may not be as clear cut as many on here would like to think. She retracted her initial statement after being 'questioned' by Cypriot police for seven hours without a lawyer present (Imagine the horror of her situation if indeed she was raped). The Cypriot government has a vested interest in portraying the island as a place where holidaying tourists do not get gang raped.
Watch the Amanda Knox documentary on Netflix for an insight into how a corrupt prosecution and a vile misogynistic media turned an innocent woman into a sex crazed murderer and robbed her of four years of her life and led to a whole generation of people jumping to the wrong conclusion.

Knox is an odd one. Its her eyes. I was glad she was acquitted but I had some doubts about her.

Are these guys dirty too? surprised some of the abuse she received here called a slut by someone else are the guys sluts too?

Whether she was willing on the night or not,she was used and abused and there is consequences for any womans mental state getting video taped being used by 12 men, even if she willingly albeit while drunk went along with it there is gonna be consequences for her mental state when she sobers up.

Ridiculous the calls for her to be jailed she didn't make the rape claim for any personal benefit,no doubt most women who get used by 12 men while drunk will feel raped when they sober up.

Gets used? She used their penises too. **** this women are victims culture. She had consensual sex and then regretted it and cried rape.

That was kinda my point. Assumptions based on a video clip doing the rounds. It may not even portray the actual event, it certainly doesn't capture the event in its entirety.

I understand your point,i didn't see the video but just because she looked like she was enjoying it at the time doesn't mean there isn't mental repercussions when she sobers up.

You only have to look through this thread shes been called a slut and a dirty cow,so for the woman that seemingly enjoyed it,when she sobers up shes the slut and dirty and they are just players and studs.Shes the loser when she wakes up no matter how much fun she had.

As men its unlikely to be used by 12 women so the feeling is unique to women and gay men who get used by groups of men,but every person that gets used like this is always insecure weak and vulnerable so while it might not be illegal you have to understand that a secure confident strong woman would not willingly allow this to happen. Its only the weak so shes vulnerable to start with so its not really a surprise that they make false accusations and the accused in cases like this are never whiter than whiter.

I don't have an opinion on her guilt. I suggested that the truth of the situation might come out over time and that people should keep an open mind in that regard before labelling the girl as a dishonest slut. She was not allowed a lawyer during her interrogation and neither was it recorded. The Cypriot police have a history of misogynistic behaviour such that local Cypriot women have come out in support of the girl. Their investigations into the event were not exactly exemplary either - hotel guests that booked into the room after the event found a used condom.

If she was a willing participant, it doesn't matter if she regretted it after the fact.

If she was willing, even after a few drinks, she can't claim her bad decision was a rape.

Cool. Someone found guilty shouldn't be guilty because you never know then?

I suppose you hold that true for men who have been found guilty of rape?

Its common nowadays no doubt about it,but you should ask yourself next time is this woman a strong secure confident woman they never are.And i don't doubt how much they enjoy it at the time it feels so real right,it looks so real.Marry a woman that gets used regularly like this and see how it affects them no matter how much they enjoy it on the night, unpopular opinion in the modern liberalized world but you will learn it eventually.

If the men involved put their phones away while all this happened she may not have made an accusation at all. I can't understand why they'd record it to be honest? Are there lads out there who would get off on watching their friends having sex?
