After 20 odd years at this crack would love to take a break from the cattle. Especially now seeing as factories are acting the maggot and moving the goalposts again. Would like to go at tillage(probably mad) or take a year off travel around and just take it easy.

Fully agree too many people get too warped up in their farms and forget there is a huge world out there to see and explore .if you want to travel go travel,you'll regret it if u dobt and I'll guarantee you 100% you'll enjoy it.

Amazed having read through this thread the amount of beef, sheep etc (non dairy) that are using this forum. Us dairy guys are def in the minority corner, would've always thought it was more 50/50. U live and learn!

Welcome on board and as JDI advised drop the text spelling. It is hard at first but put in the effort and it is worth while. Text spelling is hard on the eyes on a forum like this.

However two bits of advice get rid of the beef if dairying is an option (I am a small time beef farmer) and as a GAA person you will get similar odds on Limerick and Mayo to win All Ireland's. Up Kerry:)

Kowhai Farmlands, new 3 year old conversion so may not've been going, just below MT Hutt Station. Awesome town now with a new Irish bar opened up called the Dubliner in what used to be The Lodge beside the Blue Pub

Hi all.
Was on here before but never got into it cos someone always on the computer. My wife bought me an iPad for birthday and I'm sitting on the couch with my feet up lookin out at the rain here in cork.
I keep 50 sucklers and fatten there offspring.I hope I can bring a bit of experience to the forum.

Perhaps I should have introduced myself here before posting a thread.

My name is Jamie, and I am a Masters student at the University of Limerick. I am currently undertaking a thesis project concerning the Irish dairy industry. While the main area of research concerns Ireland's exports of dairy products, I am interested in gauging opinions and attitudes directly from those within the community.

I have just added a thread about the general attitudes Irish dairy farmers have towards the looming removal of the EU production quotas.

I would be very grateful for any assistance, opinions or counterarguments that the boards.ie farming community can offer.

How ye going, I said I would introduce myself before posting. I work full time with the HSE and have a few sucklers which the womans father lets me keep on his land. I'v a keen interest in PB angus and simmentals, and I am also looking at getting my own herd number sorted.

Monaghan man, living in the midlands - early 30's, very interested in farming, just dont have any land. Trying to build up stock numbers one at a time. Would love the idea of full time farming, preferably leasing a dairy farm.
Have a full time job in the construction industry.

Hi have been a long time looking in on this forum so I said i better make the leap an contribute something. From Westmeath, work full time at the moment and help out on the farm, with the intention of going full time farming part time working if the auld lad ever gets a motion of stepping down!! We have sucklers and sheep but the sheep get threatened with the gate ever year nearly!!!!!!!!!!!
