Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think that's the same for buying from all the supplers in Asia, they just don't take ownership.

Wide open spaces and you'll be fine..

Disaster :( glad you got the drone, first to get hit is really annoying though. Hopefully the weather will get better and you go out and have fun!

I got my other half a DJI spark for Christmas and we are sending it back.
It cant go more than about 200M without picture breakup and the DJI software is a pain in the ass with warnings and constant firmware updates.

Its like having a nanny with the way DJI have built it and try to control everything.
For example in the US the transmitter has more power and you dont get picture breakup even if you go a km or two away. The spark wont even go 400M in europe. Yes you can hack it, but you shouldnt have to go hacking stuff to get it to work properly.

I think this one sounds like a great replacement. Anything but DJI tbh.
We loved the size and portability of the spark, but DJI nanny company ...

Anyone know anything as good as the spark, about the same size but not DJI and with better range?
Failing any suggestions i think we will go for the one in the op. Thanks op

I bought a Spark when the Xiaomi didn't arrive. If you use your phone as the controller then the distance will be significantly reduced, you need to use the DJI Spark controller with line of sight to get the full 2km.

I have used a phantom 4 pro and the spark has similiar range.

We only got 300m with the remote controller.
Did you have to hack it into fcc mode to get that distance? If so what will you do when dji close off that hack?

We made no changes and didn't install any of the updates.

When we started using the drone we didn't have a remote controller so the distance between the drone and phone was very limited when flying.

Once we got the proper controller there was a massive difference in range and comparable to the Phantom 4.

My Xiaomi drone arrived today with no extra customs charges thankfully. As I had to buy the DJI Spark on Xmas eve I wont be needing this one.

I've put it for sale on Adverts if anyone is interested. I have the Drone, Spare Battery and Case. All brand new and never opened.

About 7 weeks from order, but it took 2 weeks after the order for Gearbest to dispatch the drone.

I ordered one a few months ago and crashed it almost immediately, requiring me to buy a second one.

Anyway, i ordered it and it was at my door 2 weeks later.

This one took about 8 weeks.

I think they just ship a load of old sh*te in the one container and it's pot luck if your order gets into this one or the next one.

Thanks Dazzy, that's actually not too bad. (I know if you were waiting for it as a Christmas present it is crap)

Does anyone else have an issue with the compass where it wont take off?

I have to keep turning it until its in whatever direction it feels like and then it can take off.

    Interference from its own cabling?

It happens. Turn at a right angle and wait normally works.

I just turn it 10° clockwise and leave back down in same spot, if still can't take off then turn another 10°. Always works for me so not a problem really...

I've never managed to calibrate the compass, yet I never had a problem with it flying. Or returning to home, or whatever. What does it do exactly?

On a different note, it's snowing in various places. Could be some good shots in the morning. I have the battery on charge because last time I tried in the cold I was getting a battery reheating error, and it wouldn't fly.

Edit. Had a look at the forecast. Looks like it might be too windy regardless

Every electronic compass device initially needs to be calibrated...plenty of info on what exactly it does available online.

Some great shots tomorrow I'm sure. Just keep it dry! Good luck.

Don't forget temperature drops by approx 1°C per 100m of altitude.

I ordered on Nov 24th and up to 3 days ago the tracking information said it was in Prague but that information has all disappeared and I now have no record of where the order is. The tracking on http://www.faryaa.com is returning nothing, no record at all. Has this happened anyone else or is there a better way to track?

Get in touch with gearbest support. Other boardsies went through PayPal directly. See what gearbest have to say, then file a dispute if they can't help.

I got a refund from them - Just checked the tracking as well it was showing as initially shipped from shenzen or wherever on the faryaa site but now it shows nothing

Got the following email today :
    Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for placing an order with us. We apologize that you have yet to receive your package.

There has been a slight delay to your delivery. However, we are pleased to inform you that the package is now in your local country and will be delivered to you soon.

Kindly wait for your package to arrive.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and kind support.

    Best regards,

    Support center

    Gearbest Customer Service

Seems like they don't want anyone else claiming money back because the shipping hasn't updated and the tracking number isn't recognised by an post so it doesn't appear to be in Ireland like they say.

Will continue to wait and hope!

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭11James11

Try this website for tracking .I can see why gearbest are reluctant to give refunds, there is a lot of post online where people got full/partial refunds and received there goods in the end, just seems to be a long backlog with Christmas. It seems that everybody in this thread got their drone in the end.

Still no sign of mine ordered 18th Nov. But got an email the same as lintdrummer's above.

If it's in the local country, it should be on anposts website, is there anything updated there?

The weather has been too poor for flying. It'll be worth the wait in the end, although I'd have flipped by now!!

Damn it thought I'd have it this week- Got the same email just there lads - I'd say it's a last ditch at stopping people claiming refund

Nothing on anpost or 17track wonder has one of the containers gone awol

Not recognised on an post tracking system, that's why I'm convinced it's a stalling tactic.

To be fair I got the bag from same order almost straight away so assumed it wasn't coming- didn't realise so many from Nov hadn't gotten theirs

Finally got out for a good long first flight yesterday. Also gave me an opportunity to mess with Sony Vegas Pro 14 which was on offer for $20 over the holidays. I sped up some of the footage to make it a bit more interesting and cut out a few clips of particularly dodgy camera work, but no visual processing done otherwise.

I have to say, it's a joy to fly. There's a moment of buttock-clenching terror as the machine first disappears from your field of sight and hearing, but then you focus on the video feed from the phone and learn to trust it.

Haha! Nice video. Looks great for your first edit. Now you can see how fun, fast and easy this quad is to fly. Enjoy!

Ha!! SBS was there in that exact spot last Saturday when the river was in full flood got great footage, it's a fantastic place to learn how to fly a drone. I only live about 500 Mt away on the other side of the racecourse if your interested to meet up at the weekends let us know, I don't have the mi drone mines a 3dr solo it would be interesting to see the differences between the two let me know if your interested in meeting up so cheers

I think when the deliveries get into the UK hub, they sort them and send them individually so I'm guessing they would send it back if you got a refund. You might be lucky though!
