dressmaking or preferably tailoring courses. I'm assuming that beginner's level is likely to be orientated more toward dressmaking though. & I'm wanting to learn how to make clothing for myself a man.

You would need a tailoring course & my guess would be that they are rare. Your best bet might be to find the nearest college that offers a fashion design course & ask them.

A fashion course remember will not cover many of the most important aspects of tailoring/dressmaking such as sewing, pattern manipulation, drafting, finishing, pressing, cloth etc. I would advise you to be quite wary of heading into a fashion course assuming they will teach you proper tailoring and sewing skills. I advise you to look at and join the cutterandtailor.com/forum it has a wealth of detail for the beginner and professional before you start investigating courses etc.

right I thought it would be trying to prepare the student for the workplace but maybe it's "understood" that for a student to get on a course they've already advanced beyond that stage? Or Otherwise be preparing fr a specialised area so bypass the basics. Was thinking more about a dressmaking course because it wouldn't be as advanced.
Have just also been wondering if the basics might be thought of as covered in junior school as home economics which would possibly affect the expectation of taking a dressmaking course.
I've just registered with that cutterandtailor.com thing and am looking through it.

Still I think I'd be interested in knowing what dressmaking courses were around.

A painting or a picture? I know you say painting, but sometimes people don't necessarily distinguish between the two.

Anyhow, the reason I blabber on is that there are a lot of very talented photographers that post here who may have a perfect picture for you... throw them a few quid for the picture, then go get it printed yourself.... everyone wins; you get your picture, the photographer gets some beer money, and the tax-man gets nothing :pac:

Alu chequered plate would be to thin. Galvanised steel would be better
