This is what we do. Can't understand lads cutting lawn cuttings in the last few weeks. Hope to cut here at the weekend. It's dear enough to do silage without ruining ground in the process. Every farm is different. Fertiliser only went out 18th April ground grazed bare

I'm in the same boat (you could almost float it here 😏) as you in the last few weeks.
Coupled with the low level of growth and wet weather its been a tough couple of months.

Only id say last couple of weeks has there been a bit of decent growth.
There was more happening in March !

    Hope to cut next week

the lawn clippings will give you maintenance plus 7 litres the dry cow silage made the past few days and into next week will dry cows off,

The point is some farms had silage ground closed since March. What growth was there since? Lads are cutting as teagasc says you have to cut in May. Every year is different. I can't see how there was the growth for the fertiliser to be out of the grass. Neighbour here has dry ground. Would normally cut mid May. He cut last Thursday and it rained on it all day Friday, picked up Saturday. He said very poor crop

I'm seeing reports of people getting caught with this weather.
And I really don't know how or why they cut their fodder when this weather was forecast.

Is it these weather apps with amounts of rain forecast and %'s of risk?
    They are useless.

If you live along the south and west coast and even further inland if there's mist or light rain forecasted that stuff never shows up on the radar. It doesn't show up on the radar on the forecast mm's neither iirc.
You always always always look at maps.

Right on the West coast here, it can be a totally different day twenty miles away.

Looking out at a fine June day now, overcast, wet, and pretty cool out.

The only forecast I'm bothered with now is looking out myself.

Send some of that Rain this way please.

mid 30's celsius and haven't had meaningful rain in weeks. A thunderstorm dropped 2 inches of rain in 30 minutes a mile away but nothing where we are. Grass is turning brown, plants have to be watered every day.... still weekends are tan time and working outside with lots of water on hand.....

Sun never broke through here in Meath. Started raining in the past half hour. Not what was expected at all.
Grass is on the ground but not much you can do about it. Just take it on the chin.
