Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

London Bridge Incident - mod warning in OP

Shots fired and bridge cleared by police, not Tower bridge (!)

One man was described as being under attack from others with people trying to intervene. Scene cleared and other shots fired.

    Mod warning

And that applies to everyone. Once details are confirmed feel free to discuss them, but do so civilly and stay on topic. Do not try and bring the likes of Johnson and Corbyn into this unless it's commenting on specific references to this incident

Thought it was an incident on the bus but the lorry across the road is strange

Is that an armed police officer lying down on the left hand side of this video?

The Mirror said something about a lad carrying a knife (now extinguished).
So it's likely either due to someone's particular skygod, or another run of dreaded bluestory movie about to start in a cinema somewhere near the locality.

    .

Now they're saying he's being detained.

Re the white lorry - police fired on that from both sides apparently. So all the elements of a terrorist attack at this point it seems.

But it all be hokum until we get a statement at teatime

Police declare it a "major incident".

Isn't this getting out of proportion!?

Yes, it's a horrific attack on a handful of injured pedestrians, but does it really deserve to be dissected.

Many of these incidents are so small and self-contained, they don't warrant the extreme media attention they gather.

Videos on twitter looks like he was disarmed of one knife by public then police shot him

Death to anyone who thinks it's acceptable to injure and kill innocent people.

Always rush a gun and run from a knife.

Sky News understands at least one person killed not including the attacker.

Taking no chances on the videos I seen on twitter pulled member of public off him and then bang ...
It’s a fair enough outcome ... could have been wearing a suicide vest or anything.
Well done to the public on tackling him ...

    'Normalisation' you mean? Perhaps...

Then again, the only reason it became 'small or contained', and only a few were injured - was directly because it 'quickly' became a (contained) 'major incident'.
There is also always the risk it could be part of something larger.

If you were travelling in the area you'd want to be informed that the tube station, the bridge (with hundreds of people on it) and all local roads are closed.

Well done to the police and the people who stopped the attacker. I've watch the videos and it's all handled really well.

But why on earth are all the videos cut just at the moment the fatal gunshots are about to be inflicted? Why do people do that? Do they have any idea how frustrating it is to watch?

He'll have plenty of questions to answer going by the video above. Unless they established he was wearing explosives he could have been apprehended with a tazer

And hopefully a full enquiry finds everyone to have acted like hero’s and doesn’t start expecting people and police to do chuck norris type leg shots and Jackie Chan immobilizations.

You turn up at a tourist destination with a knife you should be shot and your manifesto should be thrown in the bin.

Politically, this could be a gift for Johnson.

He could issue a response outside No. 10 and harness public anger in his own favour, offering some sort of robust defense of the UK against those who wish to harm the country.

I imagine Cummings or his equivalent is crafting the speech as we speak.

And firefighters told people to stay in Grenfell Tower.

It’s really not. When you’re day to day life includes worrying whether there will be a terrorist attack, there comes a stage when you have enough. If someone’s gonna try and kill you might as well try and take them down.

    Ah stop....
Come on the **** you have NO idea and nor do the cops to what extent this chap was armed. Why take a chance when its clearly proven minutes earlier this person is out to kill.

    Does he have a firearm?
Does ha have a bomb vest?
    is he a suicide bomber?

Shoot the vermin. This is not some innocent by stander being apprehended resisting arrest this is a man out to cause serious pain.
