What on Earth happened to Lansdowne?

Clontarf now 0 for 3 at home after losing to UCD, and Con battling from behind to win again this time against Trinity.

It’s going to be such a good league this year.

Haven't heard of any games being called off today which is a pleasant surprise. Closest I've heard is Malone Mary's was moved to the back pitch up in Malone.

Wesley game has been called off

I’m a Lansdowne supporter and I’m worried at our start to the season....

We've been brutal at home, but we're within seconds of winning today if it wasn't for Patterson scoring in the last play of the game.

It's been a cracking league so far I have to say, aside from Con it's probably been the most competitive it has been in years.

What's happening at Lansdowne. I was expecting them to be serious challengers. Mind you, I think that it is great that it is so competitive.

A mumps outbreak in one of the teams caused Wesley Navan game to be called off

Interesting appointment, Prendergast has done well down in YM the last couple years but they're off to a brutal start this season, yet to win a game.

2 games in cork tomorrow night then 23 games Saturday. Not sure if it will be the wegians or Corinthians game that I go to Saturday.

mumps outbreak in squad unfortunately I believe. Have had to postpone all adult games in club for this weekend.

Shame for them especially with last weekends game also not played. Hopefully all will be fit and well soon and they can get back playing at all levels...

Some big players lining out tomorrow it seems.

Robert Baloucoune and Bill Johnston for Ballynahinch while Cian Kelleher and Harry Byrne start for Lansdowne.

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

Ryan Baird lining up for Trinity in that game against Hinch.

Hunch game is gonna be a lot closer than paddy power predicts at +12 I think hard to hammer lansdowne 7 days prior and then go play the students and expect to be beaten by 12 or more

Trinity have been outstanding since going back to full-strength and boosted even more with Baird playing this weekend.

Plus Hinch don’t have the best historical away record in 1A

Never once said they will beat them although with the way the league has gone so far this season it’s possible all I said was based on last weeks performance +12 is gonna be way off think it’s gonna be closer than that

Conor O’Brien in the ‘Tarf starting line up to play Garryowen.

EDIT: As is Ben Murphy - the som of skills coach Richie Murphy - at scrum-half. Will probably be playing 9 for the Irish 20s this year.

Well call be proven incorrect re: Hinch and Trinty. Sounds like an absolute cracker of a game.

    Tarf and Lansdowne losing again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,721 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Penalty try from a maul left us down 3 after 50 minutes after we went into half time 4 points up.

Extremely frustrating start to the season for Clontarf, two games back to back lost after being ahead for a good part of the game, all 4 of our losses have been less than a converted try too.

Corinthians hammered dungannon. Won by 20 and could have been lot more

Lansdowne will get out of where they are, but its really odd to see and hear of unrest in the camp. Their pack just isn't as dominant as it used to be.

Big win for Hinch and UCD, best league in the world!

This is some score, still horrible to see Mary's mid table in 1B though. The team seems so much smaller than the 2012 Winning side.

Looks like the Navan story going to run a bit more...

Anyway back to rugby. Few games friday night before full round of games Saturday
Tomorrow sees Cashel Nenagh, tarf Lansdowne and Naas Marys

Lansdowne bearing tarf tonight 23-19 game in a way didn’t really kick into life till second half from a scoring perspective. Fingers crossed it’s the start of Lansdowne getting back on track

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,967 ✭✭✭✭The Lost Sheep

    Cashel won 22-10
    Mary's won 16-10

Yeah it’s an interesting one alright from what I understand it’s a month he’s there for but there’s potentially an opportunity for him to stay longer. In the meantime mark McHugh has taken the reins with Scott deasy over backs and Ben Armstrong 20s forwards coach over senior forwards now Still not a bad coaching set up

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,274 ✭✭✭RobbieRuns

Ruddock must want to get back into full time top level though. Why would you go for just a month? Has to be some kind of promise there. Also when Lansdowne are finding things a little tougher than they expected.

There is apparently (big caution on this) an option for it to go to end of the season

You'd imagine there's some element of wanting to help out a region that's still heavily linked to his childhood club. There's a lot of Swansea lads playing for Ospreys still.

I hear you, but personally do not think that kind of sentimental stuff comes into play in professional rugby.

Lansdowne have been good to Ruddock as well. What about some element of wanting to help them out?

Can't understand why we have A interpro's this week - surely they could have been put back a week so as not to clash with AIL?

madness could Irish 20s having warm up games be factor?

  • Registered Users Posts: 308 ✭✭RuPi

Two more A games to happen in January as well, I think they are scheduled for European Cup weekends as Senior sides will be at their strongest to free players up for the A sides. If it is those weekends then one A game will clash with the return fixtures of this weekends clashes.

3 players were asked but all turned it down for different reasons.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,271 ✭✭✭Stainalert

19 Munster club players from a squad of 34 seems a few too many considering the spread of clubs in the 1st division Leinster 10 Munster 6 Ulster 4. Having said that Munster currently have the top 2 clubs.

No Ulster or Connacht representation at all.

There seem to be a fair few players who are not 1st choice in their club Eg JP Phelan (Clontarf)

Think that it is a shame that the international Clubs team is all Munster and Leinster. It should be more representative of the whole country.

connacht clubs all in division 2 and division 2 players are rare enough and they may not have nominated anyone to try make squad. Same with Ulster reps

players have to want to play on it and when theres no division 1 connacht club then far less likely to be players from connacht clubs.
