Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

not a surprise but still disappointing

Anyway, it's a good team. If they play like they did against Wales, especially if England are Vunipolaless, then we're in with a big shout.

Handicap is 7 points which is probably fair given it's in Twickenham but I'm optimistic

    move on from what?

Surprised hodnett wasn’t involved during the week. His stats are excellent and he knows where the try line is.
I can see a back row of CJ , Hodnett and Doris being very dangerous down the road.

Hodnett has one training run v Kings. Let's remember that.

Team is a bit meh. Think England will win by 5-10.

Don't go throwing your crepe on everyone if you think so.

I think we're in with a great chance of a win.

Minus the Vunipolas England are ordinary.

I do hope I am wrong but I think the Welsh game could be a bit like the Scottish game at the World cup as it gave us a false sense of where we were. In reality Wales were woeful, played with the 4th choicer 10 for a chunk of the 2nd half, a rookie at 13 and missing 3 or 4 of their most important players.

As I said I hope I am wrong this is a much bigger test but not as big as it would have been considering the guys England are missing.

I am not surprised by the selection because as a new coach why break up a winning side in a six nations cycle but I am disappointed as I would like to see Doris and Cooney as I geniunely believe they would improve the team over the current stagnant 6 and 9. Just my opinion, dont shoot

Tuliagi too would be huge loss for them

I think England are fairly ordinary and we can win but I think we might still struggle with ball in hand if we can't get the ball into space out wide quick enough to make ground as we are only a few games into a new way of playing and it hasn't been smooth so far execution wise

Still, it definitively answer a few questions : in Andy's mind, POM is better than Doris, and Conway is better than Earlsie.
Apart from his POM mistake, its our best team, clearly.
2021 could be the Year of the Doris though.

I'd say its more down to horses for courses. England has a very good lineout and POM is better there. No Vunipolos will make a huge difference as well.

As for Conway and Earls - Earls is more versatile and a better bench option than Conway (who is playing out of his skin) with Henshaws injury profile.

Doris might get his start v. France, so don't despair yet!

Sorry, I must have missed some news, but is Billy Vunipola out? I know Mako has a family emergency, but I'd thought Billy was still in the squad.

He certainly isn't picking Conway ahead of Earls because Earls is a better bench option

If Tuliagi doesnt make it, I would be confident of us winning. England already weakened will not have the power game to overpower us and get over the gain line which our defence should handle then with ease.

I cant see us scoring too many tries ourselves however as I cant see much quickball for our backs

Unfortunately the referee (one of the worst) could have a major say

That’s pretty much the same as Degan and dorris

Both could be accommodated in the same team. I suppose Earls is a better better bench option than Stockdale.

We're going with a 95K 20y-o guy in Murrayfield again

Why? Earls over wing/13, can’t really say 15 anymore

Stockdale covers wing/15...so both give similar flexibility

I do think it same sense to have an experienced back on bench to come on, especially Earls who still have pace and would be up against a tired defence

Hard to believe a win Sunday and were possibly going into a grand slam game in Paris

A repeat of 2018 would be nice Sunday and then to get a triple crown would be nice also

That’s pretty much the same as Degan and dorris

Deegan has over 50 games for leinster including Champions Cup final experience. Doris has almost 30 Leinster caps and is first choice for the best team in Europe. that is not comparable to 50 minutes against possibly the worst professional rugby team in Europe.

    c’mon man.

Continuity means nothing really! We had continuity last season.... Anyway, let's see a proper game plan.
England are missing key players and we do have a good chance.
I would have selected Dillane off the bench. He is a better ball carrier than Toner. I think that Dillane would be better in the collisions too!
A big week for Healy. He has got to play well for us to have a shot. I think he's been very ordinary this far. Kilcoyne is a vastly better bench option and I suppose Farrell is looking for a dynamic ball carrier late in the match.
Either way, England have been very poor so far and we haven't been great either. I expect England to win by 10.

Dry, mild with light breezes forecast currently. Ideal weather conditions unless something shifts
