Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not sure I'd worry about that, presumably querying every chargers status is what the app does. Checking every few minutes would be equivalent to someone sitting on the app all day

I wonder is there a 'get all available' api call that could be useful?

If I get time I'll take another look, or see what calls the app is making using Charles proxy or something.

Had a look. Got the data, just need to think about how to gather it so I can get the best out of it and visualise it

Well, just took the plunge and put down a deposit on the ID.4 1st Max
Decided not to risk the yellow in the end and went for the dark blue :D

Best of luck with it. Probably a good idea if you are set on it. They have sold out in the USA, and that's before MKBHD review is even out

What kind of deposit are Volkswagen.ie looking for - anything like the EUR 1,000 refundable reservation fee for the ID.3 ?

Yeah, PCP with max deposit. It's still not in their finance system, nor is the series model ID.3, but they know the rates and everything so can work out the monthly payment by hand.

I've been told that changes can be made up to the point where the car starts being built. So I can downgrade to a base 1st in the next couple of weeks if the rates don't look good.

I'll be sure to post some pics before I cover the car in scratches :D

So it's build to order, so the deposit isn't refundable as VW are effectively building the car for me. This is basically the same as when all the ID.3 owners ordered their cars and transferred over their booking deposits

I brought up the topic with the salesman of what happens if I cancel and he said they'd try to sort something out where the deposit could be transferred to a new order or something.

True, it's the car I definitely want, and it's in high demand, which is the absolute worst combination for my finances.

I think it sold out in a day in the US. To be fair, the allocation for the US was something like 1500 units, so quite easy to see how it sold out

How did you do this - I registered on the VW website ages ago but have heard nothing back... did you deal direct with a dealer?

Yeah I spoke directly with the dealer over the phone, probably the best way to do it, they still seem pretty low tech on the sales front.

If you do speak to a dealership, I'd recommend asking if they have someone who specializes in electric vehicles. The guy I spoke with drives an egolf and does all that dealerships EV sales, so he's definitely more knowledgeable than most of the salespeople.

Interesting video about the ID.4 here.

No new information about the car really but I thought the stuff about the target market was pretty interesting

Got the PCP figures from the dealership for an ID.4 1st Max:

    Cash price: €56,108.00
    Deposit (max 31%): €17,194.46
    Amount financed: €38,913.54
    Interest @2.9% APR: €2577.58
    Documentation fee: €75
    Completion fee: €75
    Total repayable: €41,641.12
    Hire Purchase price: €58,835.58

    36 Monthly payments: €517.95
    GMFV: €22,921.00

    Depreciation 100%-(GMFV/Cash price) = 60%

Looks like they're expecting it to hold its value a bit better than the ID.3 I was quoted which had a depreciation of 65%

The annual mileage limit was 20,000km, not sure what the excess mileage cost is.

One nasty thing I noticed in the T&Cs is that if you walk away before 50% of the hire purchase cost is paid, you're liable to pay enough to bring it to 50% (€29,417.79 in this case). If for example I walked away after 1 year, I'd have to pay €6007.93 (€29,417.79-€23,409.86). So much for being able to walk away from a PCP anytime!

Personally I was expecting €600+ per month so even though it's expensive I'm happy enough

You could never walk away from PCP anytime.

Would anyone pay 8,000 Euro's more for an ID.3 than a Model S SR+ ? A slightly cheaper Model 3 SR+ is on the way too.

To put it another way, it's around 1800 SHort of a MOdel 3 Long range with even faster acceleration 4.6 seconds 0-100.

Personally If I was spending that money I'd get the long range M3 and keep it a long time.

Or get a 2nd hand model S P85D 3.3 second 0-100 from the UK before we can't get cars from the UK anymore.

Strange comparison there Mad-lad. An ID.3, ID.4, Model 3 and Model S all being compared in the one post. You’re awfully conflicted about your next purchase! :)

They are completely different segments, why would someone looking for a new 5dr hatch look at a used Model S?!
Or someone looking for a crossover look at Model 3/S or ID.3?

Try getting anything bulky into the boot of a model 3 and then you'll see why people would pick the ID3 over it. Not everyone cares about 0-100 times.

That's just the general 50% rule kicking in on car finance, you have to have paid 50% to be able to hand the car back, it's always worth remember with PCP, it's 50% of the total including the GMFV, not 50% of what you pay over the term.

Yeah it's definitely a bit of an eye opener. I was always suspicious of the statement that you can get out of a PCP anytime, there's always a settlement involved somewhere.

I'm certainly not planning on needing to get out early, but it's good to know what it'll cost if that does come to pass

I was looking forward to the test drive but had to cancel it because I had enough hassle trying to get home all week, I wish I could work from home. But probably just as well I didn't get a test drive. :D

Having said that I do like the id.4 too lol.

Too much choice these days but one thing's for certain, if the cost goes up on new electrics after the budget I won't be buying anything new, probably just as well with my mileage anyway.

    Too many numbers ;)

Also it's €56k for the ID.4 1st Max, you magically jumped up by 2 grand there :D

To be fair, there's also the cheaper ID.4 1st for €44k. Still has the 77kWh battery and nice interior, lacks the travel assist, matrix headlights and sunroof and had a 10 inch touchscreen instead of 12 inch. I'd say it's a hell of a lot of car for the price and completely blows the ID.3 77kWh out of the water.

I think thats the Tiguan Allspace (the 7 seater) that's in that image. Just looking at the Tiguan dimensions and it's slightly smaller than the ID.4

    Overall length:

    ID.4 = 4584mm
    Tiguan = 4486mm
    Tiguan Allspace = 4701mm

    Overall height:

    ID.4 = 1612mm
    Tiguan = 1654mm
    Tiguan Allspace = 1674mm

It's worth noting that the US Tiguan is what we call the Tiguan Allspace. They don't have the smaller version. This is why you see some US news sites saying the ID.4 is smaller than the Tiguan, while UK and European ones say it's bigger

Here's a table I knocked together comparing the ID.4 to some compact SUVs

    Manufacturer|Model|Overall Length (mm)|Overall Height (mm)|Width with mirrors (mm)|Width mirrors folded (mm)|Wheelbase (mm)|Ground clearance (mm)|Boot space (litres)|Boot space (seats folded) (litres)|Towing capacity (kg)
    VW|ID.4|4584|1612|TBD|1852|2766|210|543|1575|1200
    |Tiguan|4486|1654|2099|1839|2677|191|615|1655|2200
    |Tiguan Allspace|4701|1674|2099|1839|2787|201|700|1775|2400

Can't say I'm a fan, looks like a Jetta on stilts.

I'll admit however that I've never been a fan of the whole coupe/SUV thing that's going on these days.

totally agree - the rear 3/4 is an absolute mess

the ID.4 is a good looking car, why you would do this to it, I will never know

Here's a table I knocked together comparing the ID.4 to some compact SUVs

Could you add the Kia eNiro?
    Length : 4375
    Height : 1535
Width : 1805 (not sure if its with mirrors or not, its not much wider)
    Wheelbase :4375
    Ground Clearance :160
    Boot space : 451L
    Seats folding : 1405L
    No Towing Capacity
