Will Ospreay is the best wrestler in the world right now. He's been on fire ever since his brilliant match against Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom. His run in the Best if the Super Juniors was incredible and he just had another 5* banger against Dragon Lee at Dominion.

For me Ospreay is so far ahead of everyone else in 2019 the wrestler of the year is nearly wrapped up in June.
His BOSJ performance was incredible. 9 absolute bangers & then the moty in the final vs Shingo. Today was fantastic too. Best match on the card for me.
Taichi vs Ishii had another great contest & Naito vs Ibushi was a great match albeit a lethal dangerous one.
The tag matches didn't add much for me; I think they're gonna save Suzuki vs Liger for Wrestle Kingdom. Just makes a lot of sense.
I wish Umino got to show what he did vs Tanahashi instead of it being a platform to announce Moxley in the G1.
Main event was ok, like a 7/10 but for a big show I'm not sure that's good enough for a big New Japan show the last few years.
GoD are an absolute dose to watch, the most formulaic act not in WWE. Just bore the hell out of me & I think LIJ feel the same way.
Like a lot of big shows in recent months I'm scratching my head a little bit at the title switches & only Ospreay really has a contender/s now. At least they announced some left field G1 participants who people wouldn't have guessed 6 months ago.

Delighted we're getting Shingo and Kenta in the G1. And that Naito won. Ospreay/Lee was so good, match of the night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Ospreay in the G1 as well. Lovely, going to be bangers all over the tournament.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Ok, I've written out a list of possible participants:

Think these are nailed on participants:
Main: Tanahashi, Ibushi, KENTA, Moxley, Juice (5)
Suzuki Gun: Suzuki, ZSJ, Taichi (3)
Chaos: Okada, Goto, Yano, Ishii, Ospreay (5)
LIJ: Naito, SANADA, EVIL, Shingo (4)
    Bullet Club: White (1)

    Leaves 2 spots for:
Hopefully: Cobb, Davey Boy Smith Jr. , Archer, Umino
    Apathy: YOSHI-HASHI
    Veterans: Kojima, Makabe
Please for the love of god no, please no, don't do that: Fale, Tama Tonga, Owens

Having written this out there may be more than 20 in this G1

  • Registered Users Posts: 758 ✭✭✭Somedaythefire

Makabe will be in. They need Fale for the screwy results. I think Cobb is already announced as taking part of it. Gonna be a good one.

Big surprise is no Minoru Suzuki but hes getting on in years. No Kojima, Makabe or Yoshi-Hashi either.

Bit shocked at no Makabe or Kojima.

I love both Blocks but it would have been perfect if the King was there, hopefully he gets in somehow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

A Block by itself is just incredible, I feel like almost every match has the potential to be match of the whole G1.

Thank fcuk Yoshi Hashi didn't get ZSJ's G1 spot anyway, was always highly unlikely but you never know.

Just catching up but that Ospreay vs Eagles match was absolutely fantastic. Glad to see Eagles get out of BC, have been enjoying the storyline between him and ELP. Nearly G1 time now :D

It's still not on New Japan World right now & they dont seem to know when it will be. Part of me wonders if its cause the feed cut during the Rocky vs ELP match.

G1 press conference starts at 6 pm

Looking forward to ELP/Rocky & Ospreay/Eagles....after I finish the last 3 episodes of season 3 of Stranger Things.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Ospreay is so far ahead of the rest this year. If he has a good match with Fale I'd give him the keys to no.10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Great start to the G1, good to see KENTA looking almost back to his old self. Ospreay/Archer and Sanada/ZSJ were great matches, was delighted to see Tanahashi deliver with Okada in the main, fantastic performance from both. And can't wait for Cobb/Ishii, will be brutal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

The only complaint about last night was how bad it was shot. They drew maybe 5k tops in an arena that can hold 16k easily & some of the angles of the live broadcast were very unflattering.

In the ring the show was a very good watch. Ospreay gave Archer the best match of his career, the Spanish Fly in particular looked incredible. SANADA vs Zack was great too, would love to see these 2 still alive towards the end & picking up a few key wins.
KENTA got better as the match went on which I'm not sure was intentional or not. Hopefully Ibushi's ankle is ok. At least he has a week to rest it. Was worried Ibushi would allow KENTA smash him with the Go 2 Sleep.

Fale vs EVIL was what it was, not anything great but better than I expected in a way. Tanahashi & Okada can't have a bad match together. Tana bringing back the High Fly Flow was cool to see. Made sense who won it too.

Do you mean the shots during the ad breaks? If so that was only on NJPW World not the actual broadcast. They run the same in Tokyo Dome, a quarter of it is closed off to fit the staging, which is quite noticeable when you’re there but you don’t see at all on the broadcast (and no ad breaks eith long shots there because it’s not live on AXS).

Great match there between Juice and Shingo, can't beat some Saturday morning G1 action.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

I think I could write a thesis on my bemusement of Naito's last 18 months

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Was thinking they might go with Goto getting the upset in the main, wasn't expecting that.

Ishii/Cobb was absolutely brutal, in the best way. Ishii is a lunatic, countering the forearms with his head :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Goto absolutely needs this win but I'm confident they'll book him to look bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Ospreay killing it again, brilliant match with Sanada. KENTA and Tanahashi was so good, cocky KENTA is great, and ZSJ is just too smooth to watch, top class. EVIL/Ibushi was really good as well, great start to the G1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Another match of the year contender from Ospreay, that was epic, him and Ibushi are some combination in the ring. Mox and Shooter are great too.

Go out of your way to see Ishii vs Moxley from earlier. It's just incredible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

It was excellent, Moxley has been great in the tournament and flying Ishii through the table might just be the G1 highlight so far :D

Loved Yano pieing off Switchblade and good to see Naito get off the mark too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,929 ✭✭✭raven136

    I fcuking love NJPW

This G1 already has been incredible

    What a match!

    Ospreay vs Okada WOW.

Moxley is having a great showing really enjoyed his match with Ishii

Ospreay is on a sensational run of matches

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Last 3 nights in Korakuen Hall were such an easy watch. Ospreay & Ishii are both trying to outshine one another. Archer has been a pleasant surprise. I do kinda wish DH Smith was still around & there instead of Fale who & has been (predictably) the turkey who lays an egg most nights.
Ibushi, SANADA, Tanahashi, EVIL, Taichi & KENTA have impressed so far too. Hope to see more from Cobb, Goto, White & Juice too.

I feel a little mixed on how Okada is being booked. He's beaten ZSJ & Ospreay clean so many times now in the last 18 months it's pushed my interest in them title matches for a while. Beating EVIL & SANADA would do the same for them too. I can't say I see many matches beyond the G1 to WK that I think you could make with believable opponents. White is after going 0-3 with his CHAOS team mates so it's only leaves Ibushi & KENTA. Ibushi has lost a few too many key matches this year for me to Ospreay, ZSJ, Naito & KENTA.

So many good matches left. Ishii vs Naito and Shingo vs Moxley are on the next show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,061 ✭✭✭leggo

EVIL is quietly killing it, all of his matches so far have been absolute belters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

So far behind on this is there anything that should be completely ignored except the obvious fale matches

Don’t skip Fale/Archer, one of the best matches of the whole thing.

Struggling to take Taichi seriously but aside from that it's been a thoroughly enjoyable G1 so far. Mox vs Ishii my favourite match so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Moxley has been excellent in the G1 so far, him and Shingo and Naito/Ishii were great matches today. Big matches coming up over the weekend in KENTA/Okada and Naito/Moxley, have a feeling KENTA beats the rainmaker.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Only watched up to Cobb vs White & I wish Moxley would have signed exclusively to New Japan as I'll miss him on the tour loops after the G1. He's certainly delivered so far & made others look foolish, next up for him is Naito.
Since he's been booked so strong I can nearly see him getting a match with Okada in the next few months, he's not winning but could be an exciting fresh challenger.
Looking forward to Okada vs KENTA this weekend. I think the latter will appreciate being able to play a heel as some if the fans haven't warmed to him so much.

SHO, Dragon Lee and TJP announced as the first three entrants in the Super J-Cup. You'd imagine YOH will be involved too.

And apparently it's close to being announced that a working relationship has been set up between MLW and NOAH, which would be pretty cool. Alexander Hammerstone is meant to be heading over to NOAH first, would like to see Muhammad Yone be the first to go in the opposite direction.

I was a bit disappointed with Okada vs KENTA the crowd didn't seem into either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,061 ✭✭✭leggo

Same. KENTA is struggling for me. I see people raving about the matches he’s having and, fair enough, it might not be clicking with me but part of me wonders if people just want it to work so much they’re being wilfully blind to the fact it’s not clicking. Which sucks and I hope that changes because NJPW could use someone like him firing on all cylinders to mix up the main event scene.

  • Registered Users Posts: 242 ✭✭Ali Bomaye

Sanada is so boring to me the last few months. His playing to the crowd for cheers at the start of his matches and the nonsense with the Paradise Lock take so much time. His matches seem to go on forever with nothing really happening. Some of the spots in his match with Ibushi looked atrocious, at one point he went for a dropkick which Ibushi didn't even have to move to avoid and then he went for a moonsault and landed nowhere near where Ibushi was initially lying.

Bad Luck Fale needs to be dropped from the G1 next year. He is absolutely horrendous and really should not be allowed work anymore singles matches in New Japan.

Lance Archer has been one of the best things about the G1. He's consistently having killer matches, has very impressive agility for a big and has shown that he more than deserves his place. His match with Ibushi yesterday was so much fun.

Moxley has been inmense in the tournament too. He carries himself so well. The difference between this and what he was in WWE is astounding.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,877 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Not as good as his match with Ishii but still a really enjoyable match with Naito from Mox.

Mox is killing it at the G1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Moxley/Naito was great, Moxley is MVP of the G1 so far, he's been class. Could the master thief steal a victory from him though? Wouldn't be surprised, although I thought KENTA was going to beat Okada so who knows.

I am thinking of signing up to NJPW World at the start of August but I just want to know is there an app for it? And can I cast from the app to my Chromecast? I don't have an xbox or the like I just want to cast from my phone/tablet to my tv?

There is an app, but it's terrible. All it does really is link to the website.

Not sure if it has Chromecast capabilities to be honest.

You can cast from your laptop to TV, service always runs smoothly for me (it’s not mirroring cast either like some so you don’t have to leave it open).

I have the app on Android. When I open the app it just brings me to the website on browser. But when I press play on the video it opens in the app so the app is just needed for playing the video and you can cast from there.

Could watch ZSJ all day, he's so smooth in the ring, great match with Ospreay.
