Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Liffey Valley similarly empty.
Got two PS4 controllers- that should keep the kids busy for another while (they managed to break the two controllers over the past few weeks).
Its a bit eerie how quiet it is.

I dont know how all the weights were gone first thing. I mean the stores closed as soon as the announcement was made and now there isnt a single piece of weight equipment in any of the stores? Where did it all go? Staff?

the girl at the door this morning said staff are not available to help carry bulky or heavy items to the car, only relatively small items.

Web site is painfully slow to use.

    Was looking for weights myself.

Managed to get a 18kg and 20kg set.

Local only has 1 of each - everything else sold out.

Was looking for something heavier but there was no stock. This was immediately after site went live and 30 mins before it was posted here.

Nintendo Switch is another item people were looking for but same again zero in stock in 4-5 stores I checked.

Its likely that Argos shifted some of their stock to UK Argos/Sainburys to keep it going instead of sitting there for months.

I reserved 1 or 2 items not in stock until Wednesday but the email that's sent to you doesnt say it's really reserved and it doesnt include what you have ordered either so I dont think it will be honoured...

That happens when it says it can be ordered but then on last lage when reserving says out of stock and sends a blank email. So yeah there is no reservation made.

Seems the pavement outside is too narrow to allow social distancing so unless the council introduce a one way system and widen the footpaths then no idea when it could open.

Been after a trampoline for weeks, ordered one this morning from Blanch, rocked up at 4.15, out of the door with bouncing machine at 4.25, utterly painless

I would have thought so, possibly buying them weeks ago. Weights are going for stupid money on donedeal & adverts.

In the fitness forum I saw guys considering buying 2x40g adjustable dumbells for over €1,200, these were professional quality ones and that's actually the usual price.

They have lots of weights which are 20kg or less which is not that bad to carry. Being a smaller compact item it is far easier to lift 20kg of weights than say a big box with a 20kg BBQ in it.

    Argos website is shocking.
Mobile is the worst so I use the full website.

Even then, the search function by name does not always work.
I have to Google the 'item' + 'argos uk' , find the product code and then input the code to find it.

They definitely lose sales over things like this.

    People reserved online.

Checked weights in Cork as soon as it went live and they were all gone. Except for the very light ones.
So have my doubts as to whether they were ever available to the public.

Weights are hard to get anywhere right now, even companies who specialise in fitness equipment don't have them.

Outside of January Argos would not sell many per store and I am not surprised to see they are gone - they probably can't even get any in to sell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 885 ✭✭✭Dontfadeaway

The weights and gym stuff would’ve gone just before Argos closed. That’s why there is nothing atm

Not Argos but just found kettlebells in stock for a decent price from this Wexford company: https://www.profitness-supplies.com/home-weights/kettlebells.html with free delivery

Also noticed they has 2 x 10kg plates for decent price too €55 https://www.profitness-supplies.com/home-weights/olympic-plates/rubber-olympic-weight-plates-10kg-x-2.html

An option if people can't find any in Argos...

Anyone else getting loads of errors when searching now?

I've just looked for 'PS4 Controller', 'Amazon Fire' and 'Zanussi'.

No delays in any of the search- however the 'Amazon Fire' and the 'Zanussi' search results all featured Lego sets.

    Strange.

If it's the problem I've been having, you'll have to put in the argos cat number.

Browse on the UK site and then input on the Irish.

And don't use the mobile Irish site, in my experience.

Just note those are Olympic weights, which mean they have a 2 inch hole in them.

If you got your set in argos or lidl it would be a 1 inch bar or dumbbell so not suitable, 1" holes are usually referred to as "standard", the 2" is "olympic"

This clipper is good value, has all blades from 1 to 8, an #8 on the top of our head does not really have the appearance of a shaved head, its 1" long and just looks like a short scissors cut.

Not sure. Are they normally shipped from the UK?

I bought when it was available from Argos eBay at the start of April for €370, plus €9 for shipping. It was a good deal at that price but its €490 now, so you'll get better value elsewhere.

I'm very happy with the TV, I had a 5 year old Samsung ue40h5500 before it and the jump in picture size from 40 to 55 was incredible. It does hdr also, and seems to do a good job for the price.

The um7xxx series from LG all seem to have the same basic specs, the inclusion of the magic remote seems to be the only difference in some of cases. The um7400 doesn't include it, I bought one from Power City separately. So factor in €30 there if you want the magic remote (It's worth having for sure).

3 to 5 business days, UK shipped with Fastway. At the start of April, I ordered a TV Monday morning and it arrived Friday morning.

    Hi guys,

Would appreciate some advice on the following situation.

I recently ordered that LG 55" TV from Argos eBay which unfortunately arrived smashed, thankfully for the heads-up from another poster on here, I would never have known otherwise as the box outside looked perfect and I was planning on leaving it in the box and not opening it as I'm moving shortly, so was going to wait until I had moved before opening it up for the first time so I could best transport it a sealed box etc...)

Anyways, long story short, planning on returning the smashed TV this week and I'm in sort of a quandary as to what to do.

Will I just return the TV for a full refund as the same TV is now gone up to €490, or will I get it swapped for the sake TV, or perhaps get cash back and get something else if there's something of better value to be had at the moment?

I wouldn't be the best as comparing and discerning specs so if anyone wouldn't mind casting their eye over these few models and telling me which would be the best value (I'm getting swayed by the 58" ones) or best all round model?

Would the LG be better than the Hitachi, Hisense and Philips, or is that a stupid question?

I would like the bigger screen on the Hitachi and Hisense and I like the ambilight of the Philips, but don't know if I would be upgrading or downgrading.

So stick with the LG, get money back and possibly buy eksewhere or go for a different TV altogether, what would you do?

    Appreciate any opinions, thanks! :)

I bought this to replace a Hisense and would never go with another brand over Lg again . The Hisense is dreadful and the picture and colour gets quiet distorted because of the big screen . When I contacted them
They told me I’d purchased a low cost model( I paid €500 ) Would never buy them Again

I have ordered something, but have been charged twice.

Is there any way of talking to any support agent within Argos?

Most of the online links seem to be broken, the costumer support phone number says to use the live chat online but the live chat online is saying that they are too busy to take chats and direct me elsewhere. Going round in circles here.

    quick question

I placed an order for collection, I got a text with a reservation number and it said we'll text when the item is in store for collection.

it's supposed to be there tomorrow and I've to travel for it, so what do they mean by their text? it's not there but will be?
