So ive been playing the last few days and i have mostly been doing stuff in one area but now there is planes hunting me. Should i go to another area to level up more?

Nah keep plowing through that area. They'll go away when you finish the main story arc for that area.

There's something similar in each area when you get to a certain point.

Anyone manage to get the Zombie DLC before it was pulled?

    Official release is August 28th.

Anyone manage to get the Zombie DLC before it was pulled?

    Official release is August 28th.

I was going to Google when it was out actually, did it pop up on the store?

I've enjoyed both DLCs briefly, the Mars DLC was like a big dumb 80s action movie with Hurk but I enjoyed the Vietnam DLC more.

I'm not holding out much hope for the Zombies DLC but I'll plow through it none the less, probably trade it in too after thats complete.

It appeared the other day in the ready to install list on Xbox for those with the season pass before getting pulled.

It has 7 episodes based on movies that take about 20 minutes and from the video that was also pulled it has
    Blood Dragons
    !!!!

Sounds more interesting than the other 2 DLCs so.

What did everyone make of the ending?

I did enjoy FC5 but there was definitely something about it that left me slightly cold towards the end. I think it started off great and the world was very well realised but it was missing something. If anything i thought there was a little too much to do in terms of collectables etc.

The world built seemed beautiful and mad in equal parts. Graphics, sound, story etc were all quite good (apart from the forced abduction parts which were a pain). I think maybe the part i didn't like most about it was the change in direction from stealth based game which was how i previously played all the farcry's. Then again this would fit in with an American setting of guns everywhere. I've a handful of single player trophies to get and then the arcade ones and i'm not sure if i'll bother with them.

If only all open world games could be like the Witcher 3 which for my money did open world the best. For FC6 bring me back to the Island please...

    The ending?
It ruined the entire game in my opinion. I've just spent X amount of hours tearing through cultists and his Lieutenants and my only choices are to let him walk away (which results in me apparently killing my sidekicks cos of brainwashing) or try to kill him (which results in me being kidnapped, plus Hope County being nuked?). **** off out of that. It totally took away any sense of accomplishment to the hours needed to get there, and didn't make any ****ing sense in the context. It would be like Commando (movie) ending with Arnie just putting his guns down and getting shot to death  A real case of an ending trying to be way too clever for it's own good.

Started playing this on the PC last night, reasonably impressed so far. I know everyone says FC3 is the best but I found that unbearably repetitive after a few hours, FC5 is similar (maybe a little too much so....) but I find it a bit more dynamic despite the silly storyline. Looks great though and the combat is satisfying. AI a bit too dumb for my liking though....

Just an update on the above - now about 20 hours in, and just wrapped up Jacob Seed's region....this game is really magnificent, for me hands down the best Far Cry game to date.

Much more freedom to play the game, the way you want to play, than in previous games, pure sandbox gold. You can literally trigger the final confrontations without doing a single story mission if you chose, through pure creative and random plundering and pillaging.

Tones of Black Ops/Bioshock off the main narrative of Jacob's region too, which is way better than John's.

Glad I played it now, would never have only it came free with a motherboard. I'd say I'll even buy the season pass now for the DLC.

Really? That's a shame. Thought the Mars and Vietnam ones looked cool.

    Not even worth the €20?

I found them a pain to play through personally.

Nope they were chosen via vote on Ubi website.

    It shows, all poorly implemented.

Vietnam one was cool its more stealthy than the main game. Dont think its worth 20 quid on its own though. It is quite short but i enjoyed it

Picked this up again while it was on sale for €20, had forgot I got the Gold Edition when I first bought it, so I have the season pass. Just finished Jacobs area, only yer one left.

The game looks stunning, and they have to be congratulated for the presentation and graphics, but the story is meh and as duly noted, the kidnapping parts take you out of this. I'll plough through if just to finish it until R.A.G.E. 2 is out anyway. Still has a slightly stale feeling to it. FC3 still the best imo.

What difficulty did you play on? I found playing on Hard made a stealth approach to taking on outposts during early game an absolute requirement.

Not sure what the difficulty levels were on this, but I've never played less than hard in a game.

Cleared John's area and gave up. I just couldn't be arsed. The first FC game I didn't finish. No desire to go back.

I picked it up again recently and continued on from where I left off. Think I got it for €10, and I had finished Johns area. Since then, have finished Jacobs area and near the end of yer ones. But, still struggling to go back to it.

It's a stunning looking game, and at times you stop to take in the breathtaking views and visuals, but then you're back to the same rinse and repeat method, and it really didn't add anything new. ]

It's a shame, FC3 was amazing in every way. Couldn't get into 4 so never finished that, Primal was interesting for a while but became very same so didn't finish that either. The only real reason I picked up 5 again, aside from it being cheap and I had the season pass from Day 1, is to maybe play New Dawn. Having now played Rage 2 I'd like to see how New Dawn compares, because Rage 2 is a bit boring tbh.

Anyone still playing this? Missing 3 trophies for the platinum, 2 in multiplayer and 1 in campaign to do 3 missions with friend. Any takers!?

Yeah, it is same old same old.
I enjoyed finishing it tbf but it was repetitive.

Into the second area and I cant take it anymore, first time ever ive not completed a Far Cry game. Think im uninstalling unfortunatly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

Tbh you all should play this in coop, its far better that way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,691 ✭✭✭Glebee

Can I ask what it does wrong in comparison to other Far Cry games?

Dont know really, its a good game, beautifull looking , but the repetativeness is killing me. Maybe ill just take a break from it for a while. Also the guns just dont have a kick to them i feel, just something does not feel right.

Not that you're asking me but for me... Some missions are forced to move the narrative on. For example, you'll magically get captured even though there's nobody near you, you're armed to the teeth, you've got higher ground and you've just mowed down a small army. Yes it needs to move the story on but it feels so forced and frustrating. Also the story plays out in a somewhat polarising manner.

After that, it's good but it's a bit bland and samey and in some areas, not very challenging. Rinse and repeat at its finest for long periods.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it a lot but its not up there with Far Cry 3 and 4.

What made you not complete it? This is the first one I got into.

Think ill just take a break from it for a few days and just concintrate on story missions. Im usually a stickler for completing side missions and maybe thats the problem here... It does look stunning at times though..

Aye that was the worst mechanic in the game imho, completely immersion breaking. One time I was finishing off a compound and got the audio cue the hunters were inbound. I hopped back in my armed chopper, took off and started shooting at the incoming trucks to no effect. I flew over a mountain with no roads and looked back to see on-foot figures moving at mach-1 through the trees, heard something hit the chopper and then.... yup...locked up in deliveranceville.

You don't find Far Cry 3 and 4 repetitive? I personally did although I liked the campaign missions in Far Cry 3.

I thought 3 and 4 were boring and repetitive beyond belief, but that Far Cry 5 was much better for that. Still a degree of repetitiveness, but felt a lot less restricting and more fun to me than 3 and 4. Still a long way off something like Fallout though, the game world is fun but not at all a convincing living and breathing space.

OK, so I stuck with it and finished out the campaign and doen alot of theside missions and collectables. Brutal ending in fairness. Overall a decent game, will not be going back for any DLC, etc.

Got this on the Steam sale - never played through the full game but looking forward to it, picked up Primal as well and its class so far :)

Not sure I agree with the lukewarm reviews here. That being said I played far cry 5 first and then went back and did 4 and found 4 a bit repetitive (ok a bit strange I suppose).

I just loved the fantastic scenery, the scope of the game and especially....the music.
