They UK seized an Iranian tanker and refused to release it. I expected a reaction and now it happened. Iran a proud nation they were not going to sit back and allow it to go unanswered.

The problem is were in high tension mode now and if Iran refuses to release the ship, they may intervene militarily with the US.

Lawfully siezed a tanker - you claimed piracy

    Whats this

British tanker has been taken by IRGC confirmed by Iranian News sources.

ABC News confirms emergency meetings at the highest level are now convening in the United Kingdom after a British tanker was seized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Persian Gulf.

The IRGC allegedly used helicopters in addition to speed boats to capture the tanker.

Pretty much what Britain did to their tanker so.

Didn't Britain seize one of theirs 1st?

Might be time for irans military to be put out of the game

You're absolutely chomping at the bit at the thoughts of this, I'm guessing neither you nor yours will be anywhere near the action if it all kicks off.

Big ship too not a toy, built in 2018 so potentially the ship is worth more than the oil that it's carrying...

Iran should build a massive tanker that's able to swallow up other tankers, a sort of idea based on The Spy Who Loved Me...

IRGC are reporting a second tanker vessel Mesdar is now captured, this is huge if they have taken not one but two vessels.

Mesdar tanker is now missing in Iranian waters. Yep it lot more serious when you take two tankers.

This is obviously a thought out planned operation. Can’t figure out what the aim is. Maybe the sanctions are working and they are now absolutely desperate.

They can't win either way ,

Not politically and definitely not militarily

They have entered in to a suicidal zone

Old American political trick before elections....bush snr did it with iraq...Clinton did it with saddam as well....bush jnr did it with Iraq ( badly)...Obama did it with bin laden before his second election.....Trump wants to flex his military muscle because there's an election coming up next year and the yanks love nothing better than a war where they're seen as the good guys

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,705 ✭✭✭Cheerful Spring2

US Defence Officials confirm to @barbarastarrcnn that a second (British-linked) tanker, the Mesdar, has also been seized by Iranian forces today.

We not going to war yet. The ships are undamaged and nobody was killed yet. Still it is a crisis, yet still can be solved diplomatically. I worry John bolton and Pompeo will push for a military reaction though

I don’t think this is a false flag. You never know with the western agencies though.

That said Iran seems to want war. They may feel they have some hope.

My take on it is that they are doing this because they see the EU as weak and UK in governmental deadlock.
They think the EU is weak and won't stop not having sanctions against Iran because the EU has been weak on Iran.
Killing dissidents in Netherlands, attempting to kill them in Denmark, and a bomb in France and the response was simply sanctions against individuals.

The EU is terrified that if Iran implodes there will be another refugee crisis and those in charge within Germany, France and the EU itself know something like that would boost their ideological opponents RE Orban and Salvini etc

We not going to war yet.

We? The only 'we' about this is the effect on wholesale oil prices.

The Brits were sharp enough to impound that tanker in the Strait of Gibraltar considering they haven't nearly the resources to patrol the Gulf and escort the 100+ British linked vessels transiting the Gulf at any time. Another case of hitching the wagon to America and ending up covered in horse shyt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,116 ✭✭✭archer22

So all that military and high tech stuff belonging to the Empire and it's vassal in the gulf and still Iran is able to do what it wants when it wants ha ha

Doesn't look good for the Imperial navies if a shooting match breaks out...looks like Iran is more than a match for them

Trump just made a largely non-committal and fact light statement which he used to put the usual boot into Theresa May, also more or less said there is no formal agreement with the UK but that they will talk to them about it.

If UK takes military action it be laughable if Trump says not my business. It too early- Trump reaction may be different in a few hours time. There no sign military action is imminent though. We have to watch and see.

Send in Ofmatthew. She can taken down some of those John Bolton nutters. Bolton captured those ships and Bolton seems to be in control of some Iranians who are disgruntled with Iran's government. These guys are clearly not working for Hassan Rouhani are they? Or even Ali Khamenei? This is all the April 2018 regime and its deviousness. Ofmatthew, now is the time to go to where Bolton is and go insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
